What Happens At The Church... Stays At The Church!

Detective W opened the door and looked around the sanctuary. The teachers were all huddled up in the corner, mumbling things amongst themselves. It seemed like they weren't disturbed by the previous commotions.

"That's what I call suspicious..." Detective W muttered, then chortled. "Priest Morgan gets into a fight, and no one gets anxious over this?" He see brooms and mops resting on the gray wall, yet the floor wasn't any cleaner than before.

Detective W whispered to you, "Get your notepad ready. Ha-Eun will take care of the recording."

He then clapped to get the three teacher's attention. "Hey! Mr. Medico, Mr. Benjamin, and Ms. Rebecca! If you can come over here please! There's some things I have to know!" Detective W hollered.

The three of them shuffled towards him. "What do you want, sir?" Rebecca asked. "I can help if it's not too complicated."

The other two teachers agreed. You scanned them from head to toe. Mr. Medico had reddish-brown spots on his large hands and his white jacket. A ring rested on his middle finger.

Mr. Benjamin had a slight cut on his left knuckles. His suit jacket, however, remained crisp and pristine.

Ms. Rebecca had her right hand in her winter jacket pocket. She shrugged and grabbed a tissue paper from her thick red jacket.

Detective W grinned and exclaimed. "All right! Thank you guys for cooperating! Now, I need answers to these questions!"

"What... questions?" Benjamin asked. "How long will this take?"

"Not too long," Detective W promised Benjamin. "If we can get it right, it will take under an hour. Worst case scenario, an hour and a half. Nothing too complicated."

Mr. Medico sighed. "That's good. I have to meet with a pawn shop dealer after this."

"I have things to do afterwards too," Rebecca confirmed.

Detective W gave a slight nod. He ordered you, Ha-joon, and Ha-Eun to look for more clues while he questioned them. "Okay, let's begin. Do you guys know what happened with Priest Morgan?"

All of them shook their heads. "No. What happened with Priest Morgan?" Rebecca said, confused.

"Well, well. Someone had assaulted him and took the holy chalice. The holy chalice is still in this church. One of you must have took it." Detective W went for the blunt route today. He was displeased that his only day off of work was ruined.

As expected, the three of them went on an outrage. Detective W was taken aback by all the fiery screams.

"Hey! How could you assume one of us did it?!"

"I swear to God that didn't happen!"

"Jesus Christ! Priest Morgan was injured?"

"Who fought Priest Morgan?!"

"The holy chalice is stolen? Oh no!"

"No!" Priest Morgan shut all of them up with a fierce bark. He then shadowboxed some more, ending with a right cross. "By God, I am a boxer! That wussy got nothing on me!"

"Priest Morgan, let me continue," Detective W warned. "I see that you guys know next to nothing about this incident. Why is it?"

Rebecca went first. "Priest Morgan had me paint and clean the walls under that stained glass over there," she pointed at the stained glass left of the sanctuary entrance.

Medico went next. "I was cleaning the pews, starting from the back. I wiped the pews carefully with a rag, sir. Priest Morgan also wanted me to paint the pews. So, Rebecca and I shared paint."

Benjamin explained his situation, "I was sweeping the side entrances to the sanctuary. I got my knuckles cut by a protruding nail near the door. Luckily, there was a hammer."

Detective W checked the nail, and went on to the next question. "Do you guys know what the chalice is made of?"

This time, he got surprisingly different answers.

"It's gold!" Medico answered.

"Stainless steel," Rebecca offered.

"Brass!" Benjamin argued. "No way it's gold!"

Detective W took note of that and asked, "Do anyone of you know what the chalice is used for?"

All three of them answered at the same time, "For the Lord's Supper, of course!"

Detective W blinked in surprise. "Okay, then... all right. Whatever that is... on to the next question! Besides the kids in the library, are you three the only ones in the church?"

They all nodded. Detective W looked down at his shoes and stroked his chin. "Just two or three more questions to help me find the answer... what should I ask?" he breathed to himself.

After several more minutes of thinking, he asked another question. "Rebecca, Medico, what happened to your hands? At least Benjamin explained what happened to his hands."

"I'm clumsy with paint," Medico explained. "I keep forgetting that the paint isn't dry yet. I know, I'm clumsy..."

Rebecca expounded, "I burned my hand yesterday with the hot coffee, and I hit my hand hard on the kitchen table. Yeah, my right hand is kind of busted for now. My left hand? That's due to paint."

Detective W looked at her hand in the pocket, nodded and walked around with hands behind his back. 'Two more questions left to the truth...' he thought. 'What should I ask...?'

He spent a few minutes looking at the laminate flooring. Detective W took a deep breath and said, "I think I got it."

"What sports do you guys used to do?" Detective W queried.

"Softball and boxing," Rebecca proclaimed.

"Dutch kickboxing and weightlifting," Medico boasted.

"Golf," Benjamin stated.

Detective W asked the final question. "Have you guys ever been to the changing room?"

All three of them shook their head. Detective W walked around them one more time. He could smell the faint scent of lavender, but he couldn't discern the scent location. "Well, males and females use lavender... so scent can't be it..." Detective W grumbled. "I'm honestly lost here..."

You, Ha-joon, and Ha-Eun had just finished investigating. You three searched the changing room one more time and found these two evidence. "Boss, here's what we found," you told Detective W.

One was broken shards of glass. The other one was a non-descript, palm-sized, light purple cloth. The cloth had no debris and dust on it. Detective W ran his fingers through the cloth. 'It felt softer and smoother than regular cloth. It's also thinner', he observed. 'Could it be...?'

Detective W chuckled and rubbed his hands in delight. "Thank you, my friend. This two pieces of clues changes everything. I'm eighty percent confident as to who the thief is now."

You forced Detective W to tell you, Ha-Eun, and Ha-joon everything he found so that you three can join in on the fun too. After all, the assistants needs to have some fun in the cases, too!
