Chapter 5 Eva's P.O.V

It's been months since I last talked to Daniel and as much as it hurts me it is what it is. I started basketball season so now I have another thing to occupy me. I even started talking to a guy from the boys basketball team. His name is Marcus. He is sweet, funny, and smart. He is also very tall and muscular. He has green eyes and black straight hair that he wears up in a man bun with the perimeter of his head edged up, he is a very good looking guy.

Now that basketball season is upon me I am constantly busy, I am either studying, with Kim, or Marcus, at basketball practice or at the gym. I keep myself busy.

I was at practice and I couldn't help but feel like someone was watching me. I mean Daniel was there but he was with Lisa. I don't know it was weird after practice I was in the showers and I heard Lisa talking about how her and Daniel are super sexually active and how she couldn't believe that she took his virginity. It was to much information for me.

Once I was done getting dressed Kim and I make our way to her car and I see Daniel there by his car. Kim and I are just joking around making fun of Lisa. Kim knows just how to get me in a great mood.

"I'm starving Kim. Lets go get some pizza." I say rubbing my belly.

"Girl I was thinking the same thing." She begins to rush over to the local pizzeria while I am placing a mobile order.

We wait in the parking lot for about 10 minutes before I get an alert that the food is ready. We hurrily go inside and get our food and make our way to the car to go back to my place. As we are walking out, I see Daniel and Lisa walking towards us. Ugh!

"Well hello there Eva. I didn't know you guys liked to come here to after practice what a coincidence." She says as I notice her grabbing onto Daniel's arm tighter.

"Daniel knows that I come here very often." I say pissed at this point.

"Well it was nice seeing the two of you, but Eva and I have to go we are taking some food to her mother before work." Kim says while trying to push me out of the way.

"Say hi to your mom for me will you Eva?" Daniel asks. I just nod my head and keep walking.

I get to the car and my stomach is just aching with anger and jealousy. I begin to bang on the dash board. Kim is just looking at me and then says, "Look I am going to be honest. It is clear that the both of you miss each other. And I can tell that he loves you, and not just in the friendly kind of way. I don't understand why you guys just don't talk to each other and tell each other how you both feel."

I mean she isn't wrong. Lately I have been feeling like Daniel has a crush on me but he won't bring himself to admit it. But if he won't admit it I won't admit it either. I feel tears coming down my face and all I can get out is, "Just drive." She looks at me and I just beg, "Please." She nods her head and drives me home.

We get to my place and Marcus is there waiting for me.

"Hello beautiful, I thought that I might bring you some dinner. I know that after practice you are usually starving so I thought I would bring you over some dinner that I made." He is holding a bowl in his hand, he is to cute but I am really not in the mood for company.

"Thank you Marcus that is really thoughtful of you. But Kim and I already got dinner and I have to pack what we bought my mom and then I have to study." I say trying to hint that I don't want company but he isn't taking the hint.

"Well I knew that your mom was going into work as well so I brought her some as well. I even packed it up for her." Dammit. I mean he is so sweet for thinking about my mom as well but I really don't want company. But on the other hand he might be the distraction that I need.

"That's very thoughtful of you. Thank you. Well lets go in I'm sure that my mom would be happy to see you." I say not really wanting him to come in.

We go into my house and my mom is walking down the stairs dressed for work.

"Hi mija. Hi Marcus. What are you two up to?"

"Nothing mom I just got home from practice with Kim and Marcus brought us some food. I wish I would have known that so I wouldn't have spent money on pizza."

"I already packed it for you and everything ma'am. Its my famous million dollar spaghetti. And I also packed you a salad and some fruit. Oh and here is some water with cucumber and lemon. My mom drinks this before work and says it gives her energy. I figured that you might like it." He says while handing the stuff to my mom.

"Thank you mijo. That is very thoughtful of you to have thought of me. I like him Eva." She says chuckling and takes the stuff. "Well kids I have to go. Behave and I will see you tomorrow mija."

"Good night mom. Have a good shift." I say as I watch my mom make her way to the car.

"Well lets eat." Marcus says.

I get stuff out to begin eating. We are sitting down eating and I'm trying so hard not to make it awkward but unfortunately it is.

"So how was practice? I hear you have perfected your lay up."

" I guess you can say that. I mean it wasn't always bad but its better. Kim has been working with me to perfect it so..."

"Well that's good. Do you think we have a chance at winning state?"

"Duh we are the best team in the state. No one is going to beat us. Coach even said that there is a scout that is interested in me. I would play for the basketball team and they would pay for my school. But it wouldn't matter because I could also go to any school I want with my grades. I basically have a 5.0 average. as long as I keep this up I can go to any school in the country that I want."

"Damn smart and beautiful and athletic. Is there anything you can't do?" He says while leaning closer to me as if trying to kiss me. I have been talking to Marcus for about 2 and a half months but I have never kissed him. I have never kissed any boy before ever. And I don't want Marcus to be my first kiss.

"What are you doing?" I ask him as I lean back.

"Come on Eva. We have been talking for what almost 3 months now. When can we make this official?"

"What are you talking about we are just friends."

"Really after all the hang outs, and dinner dates? And you say that we are just friends?" He sounds like he is getting angry. But I don't care, who the hell does he think he is. "Eva do you know how many girls would kill to be in your place? Who would kill to sleep with me?"

I get furious, "Well then go be with them. I don't want a relationship like that I thought you were just being friendly. I am sorry if you thought different."

"This is bullshit! You are supposed to be mine. That's how this goes."

"Look I don't know what you are talking about. But I don't belong to anyone. Second of all get the hell out of my house!" I yell and go to open the front door.

"You will regret this Eva."

"Whatever just leave." He then walks out the door and I slam it behind him. I run upstairs crying at the fact that this asshole really thought I owed him something.

"what the hell just happened." I whisper to myself.

I call Kim right away I need a friend. My initial reaction was to call Daniel but I just didn't want to deal with him or Lisa.

"What's up bestie?" Kim says in a cheery tone.

"Girl you won't believe what just happened." I say and my voice is very shaky at this point.

"What happened?"

"Marcus bro, he thought that I was supposed to throw myself at him or something, because just now he tried to kiss me. And when I didn't let him he freaked out on me. And right before he left he said 'You'll regret this.' Like what the fuck does that even mean?" I say pissed.

"Are you serious? What the hell is his problem? I think it's time that I talk to him huh. I mean I liked the guy he was always so nice to you and everything, but he always did seem like there was a hidden agenda."

"I don't know I mean I don't think I lead him on. I mean I thought we were just being really good friends. Whenever he would see Daniel and Lisa he would hold my hand. At first I thought it was weird, but then I saw what he was doing so I just went along with it."

"That still doesn't give him any right to threaten you like that."

"Whatever I just needed to vent. Do you think you can come over and spend the night with me. I don't really want to be alone tonight."

"Sure girl. I'll be there in a bit I'll go rent us a movie and we can study for the test we have tomorrow."

"Thank you. See you soon."
