Silent Steps (1)

Victor was observing their surroundings whilst Zhong kept the boat on the direction of the island, the boat was an old model not like the new expensive yet fast ships, its speed wasnt fast since it was cheap due to it being used by tourists and it was funded by the citizens of black turtle island, it was wide and had a roof with the pattern of red and white.

Even though victor looked like he was just looking around but in actuality his mind was working at its maximum capacity, within his mind he was thinking 'Hmm even though it looks like there is gonna be a storm, some of the fishes should be active but why cant i see nor hear a single creature in these waters, did the villagers overfish here? No, that is not possible this area is still a part of the ocean so even if the villagers did overfish there should still be new batches of fish swimming here but this place looks devoid of life, there can only be a few reasons, the corals here have been destroyed, there are massive amount of predators, or hopefully this is not the case, there's a new and more powerful predator in this area'.

While Victor was thinking Zhong had maneuvered the boat to the islands pier, brother zhong got off the boat and tied its rope on a wooden pillar on the pier.

"Dewy were here, let's go and scan the area, we might find a murderer here and get some action"

Brother zhong called out to victor whilst he was seemingly staring at the water all spaced out, zhong pulled out a flashlight and turned it on he then simultaneously placed a hand on the gun in his holster, zhong might not be a detective but anyone would find what he had discovered weird.

The island residents reported an incident and should be awake but the island had no lights on at all, that phenomenon made even zhong raise his vigilance to its utmost capacity, zhong observed the place with his eyes whilst waiting for victor and just from the sight of the place even though he had been here multiple times caused the hairs on his body to stand up.

The village was deep inside the dense forest of the island so there was a gap that acted as the entrance, it had a man made pathway which now exuded an eerie aura, the tall forest trees looked even taller than they should have been and the branches looked like arms that were reaching out to them, the whistling of the wind was even more apparent due to the deafening silence of the island, no bugs nor animals could be heard from the island, the waters were still and not a ripple could be seen nor heard.

A hand reached out behind zhong and landed on his right shoulder this made zhong jolt and freeze in place, he turned his head to the side to look at the one behind him and once he saw who it was he loosened up just a bit.

"We've been on this island many times before but why does it look and feel so different from the times that we have been, it feels... how should I say this, it feels like something is watching us"

A drop of cold sweat dripped down victors face as he looked at the tall trees, they gave the sensation of being watched but he didn't see anybody or anything on them, victor calmed himself down and walked in front of zhong.

"Zhong let's go to the village and question the residents, I have a feeling this place is hiding something more now"

Victor placed his hand inside his trenchcoat and held the gun he had just in case as he slowly walked into the open pathway of the forest, zhong saw this and banged his fist against his chest to loosen up his nervousness, he kept a hand on the glock and pointed the beam of the flashlight towards where victor was and then immediately followed behind him until he arrived beside victor.

Victor had his phone out and turned on its flashlight function, he used his phone as his own light source, the light from his phone was strong but he could only see so far in front of him specifically 3 to 5 meters in front of him, when the light passed that length the forests darkness seemed to devour the light even zhongs flashlight could only reach the same length, victor walked on the path but he couldn't shake the feeling of being watched from earlier and it even became even worse since he now had a feeling that they were being followed but he didnt hear a single step from behind them, he was thinking that maybe it was just his imagination from the stress he had accumulated overtime due to him working for 10 days straight with only 2 hours of rest, but he also trusted his instincts and decided to wait till they were in the village to not alert their supposed follower.
