Arrival

"Mmmmm. This is so good. I never got food like this at the orphanage. I only got to eat the scraps." I tell him,

"I'm glad you like it. After we finish eating, we'll get back on the wagon. We only have about an hour of traveling to do until we reach the capital."

"Ok" I reply,

"What are you going to do once we reach the capital?" He asks,

"What do you mean?"

"Well, where are you planning on staying? You can't just sleep in the streets. It's too cold and dangerous."

"I haven't thought about that… I'll figure something out when we get there."

We finish eating and head back to the wagon. I do wonder what I'll do when I get to the capital. Maybe I'll find a job.

As we reach the capital, I can see the beautiful castle and the big city like buildings.

"In the entrance of Clovesto the guards are going to check the wagon. They may think your appearance is strange so you should cover your face with your blanket and pretend your sleeping" Anthony explains,

"Okay"

I put the blanket over my head like a hood and lay on my side.

As we pull up to the front gates, the guards come over to check the wagon. Two guards go to the back of the wagon and rummage through our boxes, and one guard comes up to Anthony's side of the wagon.

"What are you shipping in those boxes?" Asks the guard

"Just some pelts, clothes and blankets" answers Anthony

"Who's the girl?"

"She's... She's my niece. She wanted to see the capital so I let her come along this time" Anthony lies,

"How old is she?" asks the guard ,

"…"

"I'm sixteen." I answer while laying down

"Hmmm. Alright you can go." the guard says.

I let out a sigh of relief as we pass through the front gates into the capital. I sit up so I can see better. The capital is full of big buildings, and bustling streets. As we ride down the main road, I see that every corner of town is full of shops, and crowded squares. It's nothing like the town I left behind. It's a little overwhelming.

"You alright over there?" Anthony asks,

"Y-yeah... I'm fine. I'm just not used to this." I tell him as I pull the blanket over my head.

"Let me buy you a cloak Emily." asks Anthony

"Why? You've done so much for me already." I reply

"I know you don't have a coat and its cold out. You also have to be wary of people because of your appearance. It's been fun kid. Honestly, a cloak doesn't cost much anyways"

"Well I guess if you insist."

"Good, then let's go to that shop over there and I'll buy you one before we part ways." Anthony motions.

After he buys me the cloak, I fold the blanket up and put the cloak on over my dress.

"Wow, thank you so much Anthony! I love it"

"I'm glad you like it. Well, I guess this is it. See you around Emily." Anthony says with a smile,

"Bye Anthony. See you!" I exclaim as I wonder off towards the crowded streets.
