Luke

I wonder around the city as the day passes. Its lunchtime now and I'm hungry but I have no money. I guess I'll go ask shop keepers if they need help with anything to earn a few coins. As I'm walking to a shop, I hear shouts from farther up the street.

"I wonder what that ruckus is about?" I wonder

As I listen more, I realize that the shouts are getting closer, so I go into an alleyway to avoid the ruckus.

"Get back here!" shouts someone,

"We can't let you wonder off on your own!" shouts another.

Now they're right outside the alleyway I'm in. I wonder why they're getting louder? Suddenly a boy comes running straight towards me.

"Get out of the way!" he yells at me,

"AAah!" I yell back.

I grab my hood and he run straight into me and we both fall over in a tumble.

"Ow, that hurt" I mumble as I start to get up,

The boy who ran into me is still on the ground, so I help him up.

"Get him!" shouts someone coming in the alleyway.

"Are you being chased?" I ask the boy,

"Maybe?" he replies,

"This is unbelievable." I frown,

"Get him! He's in the alley!" Someone shouts,

"We should go." The boy urges as he grabs my wrist and starts running

"Why are you being chased?" I ask him as we're running away

"I'm being chased because ... because they want to chase me." He replies

"That isn't an answer, and you're terrible at running away." I tell him as I take the lead and go through the crowded streets and into various alleys. Finally, we can't hear them chasing us anymore.

"I think we lost them." I huff through heavy breaths,

"Thanks, for helping me get away. I'm Luke what's your name?" he asks,

"Your welcome, and my name is Emily"

"Well Emily, where should we go now?" Luke asks me

"WE, won't be going anywhere. I will be going to find a job so I can get lunch. Unless you have money, don't come with me."

"I have money. Let me buy you lunch as a thank you for saving me."

"Alright, fine." I reply

After we eat lunch, I get a better look at Luke. He looks like he's my age or a bit older. He's wearing fairly expensive clothes too. He has Brown hair and vivid green eyes.

"Are you rich?" I blurt,

"Well aren't you blunt." he replies with a smirk,

"Well... your clothes look expensive... that's why I ask." I mumble with flushed cheeks,

"How about this. I can ask you a question and you can ask me a question." He explains,

I nod.

"Good. I guess I'll go first then. Why are you wondering around the streets with a cloak on? Are you a criminal or something?" He asks,

"I'm not a criminal. I just… I just like to wear cloaks..." I lie,

"Hmmmm. Alright your turn to ask a question" he says,

"Um… Why were you being chased?" I ask,

"I was being chased because we were playing tag…" He lies,

"You're not a good liar." I tell him,

"Neither are you" Luke tells me,

"Well, now that we're done, I'm going to go look for a job. Have a good day Luke."

"Wait. Can't I come with you?"

"No" I relpy,

"Well why not?" Luke asks

"Well obviously because your being chased by a lot of people."

"Ok, ok. What if I hired you instead of you looking for a job?" asks Luke,

"I'm listening?" I nod,

"I'll hire you to be my body guard for 10 coins an hour. How does that sound?"

I raise my eyebrows.

"Fine, 15 coins an hour." He says

"Deal." I agree

"Alright, so where do you want to go?" I ask,

"Hm. Let's start walking down the street." Luke replies

"Ok, but I should know who was chasing you so I can do my job better."

"The Guards were chasing me."

"Ok, so we can't really walk through any of the main streets because there are always a lot of guards there. So, let's start by going through there." I point to an alley on our left,

"Alright, let's go." Luke agrees

As we walk through the city I can't help but feel like we're being watched.

"Luke, I think we're being followed" I whisper

"Yeah, that's what I've been thinking too."

"I have a plan, but first were do you live?" I ask

"At the palace." Luke replies,

"Ok, so we are going to… wait, you live at the palace? Why?"

"I, well… I'm a butler."

"Hm. Alright, what direction is the palace from here?" I ask,

"It's east from here. We're about a twenty-minute walk away, and a ten-minute run." He tells me

"Okay, so the plan is that on the count of three we are going to run to the palace and go to your room where we'll be safe… I mean, it's not a great plan, but it'll work." I explain

"Ready?" he asks

"Ok" I nod,

"One"

"Two"

"Three"

"GO!"
