Black Diamonds

Ele had notified her parents of the cancelled engagement, they were on their way to the banquet. This vixen's happy days were about to be finished. In the mean time she decided to slap her face first.

"Brother Ye, is this the woman you have cancelled our engagement for? Look at her, she definitely lacks some manners. She came to her Mother's-in-law birthday banquet empty handed!" Said Ele with a smug face.

It was the second time someone has picked on her manners. This has nothing to do with manners, she was offended by this woman first and she also tried to put another girl between her and her 'husband'. In Jo's opinion she didn't deserve a present. Only a congratulatory will suffice.

"At least my family should have been notified before this annulment! Don't you think so?" Ele added.

Lin Yan felt her face redden. She knew her son never agreed to this engagement, it was her mere wishful thinking and it was her duty to notify her parents. Who would have thought, that her son will get married overnight. She had never seen this woman who had becomed his wife before.

"Ele it is mother's fault! It all happened so fast, that it was too late for me to do anything!" Lin Yan replied looking guilty. Before tonight she thought that this marriage was fake, but her son's behaviour made her doubt her self. She would never brake apart a couple in love.

Jo fell pensive at the dialog between these women. It was too late for her do to something? Was that implying, that if this marriage was real and she knew about it before it had happened, she would have opposed it? Jo didn't want to rush and jump to conclusions, this sentence had a double meaning and despite Ele's attacks she didn't want to create a ruckus and ruin her birthday.

Lu Hongxiang was nearby socialising with some guests, but he heard the dialog that went on behind him. He excused himself and joined the arguing party.

"Ele, indeed our family is at fault here. We are sorry and we will properly apologise to you and your parents, but let's put this aside for now and enjoy this evening!"

Lu Hongxiang's words infuriated Ele even further. Who does this geezer thinks he is. He can make a promise and then back down as he pleases. He obviously hadn't met his match. Ele was about to explode, when Lu Ye Ze cut her off.

"Mother, this present is from me and my wife!" Lu Ye Ze put his hand in his pocket and withdrew a small black velvet case.

Lin Yan was dumbfounded. In her entire life Lu Ye Ze had never given her not even a single flower and now he is giving her a gift?? This isn't as simple as it looks. Lin Yan stole a glance at the girl beside him and picked up the gift from her son.

Lu Ye Ze understood Jo's action when she put the box in there. She didn't want to come empty handed, but she didn't want to give the gift her self either. What she didn't knew was that, with Lu Ye Ze's affection history towards his Mum, the later would understand immediately from whom the gift was actually from.

"Ah-Ze, Ri-El thank you!"

Ele froze on her spot her slap had never landed, but the show is not over yet.

Lin Yan usually didn't open her gift publicly, but given the person who gifted it, her curiosity prevailed her manners and opened the black case.

Shock enveloped her as soon as her eyes landed on the object inside. Seeing her Mum's reaction, Wei Wei looked over the shoulder at the gift in her mother's hands, her eyes suddenly started sparkling greedily at the beautifully encrusted black diamonds.

"Oh... oh! So pretty!" Exclaimed Wei Wei.
