Commitment

Lin Yan took out the black diamond encrusted brooch and started studying it meticulously, looking intrigued. A few years back, she attended the Jubilee Crown Jewels Exhibition in London, she is a jewellery collector and enthusiast, her self. The Queen's Elizabeth II jewellery collection, is her all time favourite, she knew quite a lot of them by heart and this brooch looked very familiar.

Ele had a few more words to say, but she was caught by Lu Ye Ze's fierce gaze and froze on the spot. She swallowed her words and kept silent, but not for long though, as her parents had just arrived and joined their group. Jo felt a headache coming.

"Lin Yan, my dear friend happy birthday, may the Gods cast all their blessings upon you. You look splendid this evening" Ning Hua congratulated Lin Yan whole heartedly.

"Mother, Father!! You must give me justice!" Demanded Ele with a stomp of her foot.

Lu Ye Ze, took Jo by her hand and excused him self and his wife. "I will let you all, discuss your matters privately then. Please excuse us!" He wasn't going to allow his wife's mood be ruined by this family. So he took Jo away. At the same time Wei Wei and Pei Lightian left as well.

Seeing the departing couple, Ning Hua started fuming and demanded an explanation.

"Lin Yan, this??!!"

Lin Yan looked at her long time friend and her heart sank.

"My dear, we have just found out as well, our son kept it from us, as the girl was on her death bed and he didn't know if she would make a comeback. In fact that is why he had decided to marry her!" Pleaded Lin Yan with a sorrow heart.

"I understand, but its not fair to our Ele! What is she going to do now? She had waited for this engagement to be consumed, since she was a little girl! This has completely broken her heart!!" Retorted Ning Hua.

Her words didn't sit well with Lin Yan. Only a few years back Ele was crying and shouting that she would never marry a Chinese, she hated China. Her mother then explained, that she was bullied at school back in Germany, due to her Asian background and appearance. Lin Yan became very suspicious at this mother and daughter duo.

Although Lin Yan was doubtful of her friend's words, on this occasion she didn't dare argue. They were now trying to make amendments with their long time friends and ask forgiveness for their son's lack of commitment.

At the buffet, Lu Ye Ze was carefully placing various types of food on a plate.

"Do you like mini burgers?" Jo was startled by his question, she instantly blushed and replied with a shy "Yes". David hated when she would eat burgers he was afraid that it would ruin her figure. She shook her head in her mind, why was she comparing Lu Ye Ze to David, they were so different from each other. It wasn't fair to her new fake husband.

Lu Ye Ze finished adding food to her plate and then he handed it to Jo to eat. He helped her sit down at a table near by and excused him self to make a phone call. Jo looked at the plate full of delicious western food and started munching happily.

In the mean time, a few steps in the distance Lu Ye Ze's parents were still trying to make amendments with their long time friends, the later seemed to run out of excuses and arguments, but Ele wasn't going to let this endless pitch of wealth slip through her hands, so easily.
