It was then that I thrust my hand into and through the coffin that held my 'new' body and through six feet of soil over and over again until I broke through into the cold wet surface. I pulled my entire body up from the grave. It was quiet and empty. The only sound was the light rain and the occasional thunder. I circled through a few graves as lightning flashes lit up the place. I crouched and squinted my eyes at the tombstone of the grave that I rose from.
There was no name on it so I carved the word 'deadman' into it then left. I walked out of the gate and then I heard the trees rustle... and there was no wind. I looked toward the noise and saw this man with black formal clothes and a cape. He had long and neat black hair and had a pale face with glowing red eyes. "You know Halloween is not today pal," he said. "I could say the same thing to you 'pal'," I retorted.
"Oh? do you really think I am wearing a silly costume like you?" he said maniacally. "If you want to be rude, I suggest you do it at a bar with someone else," I said turning away and walking off. Suddenly he jumped at me and bit into my neck all the while I was still walking away. I felt his fangs dig into my cold skin and was trying to suck out something. He was a vampire huh. He jumped off in front of me and looked at me with fear in his eyes.
He then scratched me with his long claws for fingernails which ripped through my clothing but nothing past that. "What are you made of?" he asked looking at the dents of his claws. "Just walk away and you won't have to find out," I say slightly annoyed. "Foolish human! You can never match the strength of a-WAIT! COME BACK HERE, YOU COWARD!" he said as I walked away.
He then flew in front of me and threw a bunch of mud in my eye and then sunk his fangs into my neck again. This time I grabbed his cape and pulled him off my back. I then swing him around and let go. making him crash into a tree toppling it. I then raise both my hands and lightning struck the tree making it catch on fire.
I then looked at my palms surprised. Did I just do that? I then hear a horrible screeching noise come from the fire. I turn my attention to the vampire and see nothing but rage and malice in his eyes. All I could think about is how he needs to rest. If he was that angry at a stranger who was stronger than him then I would hate to see how many he knew that he made suffer and made him suffer.
The thunder sounded as I pulled off the muddy rags on my body then put my fists up ready to fight. He screeched as he shot toward me and he tried scratching and clawing my face but I dodged most of his attacks then grabbed his head with both hands and started to squeeze and twist.
He then jabs his thumb in my eye and pushed me into the mud and started slamming my head into it. He then claws and scratches into my neck until I decided to play possum. He started cackling like a maniac when he thought he put me down but then a bolt of lightning flashed in front of him distracting him long enough for me to teleport behind him.
He looked around and when he turned to me I grabbed him by the throat and then lifted him high into the air. As he struggled to get free I looked him straight in the eye and nodded. I then slammed him into the ground and drained his soul from his body. I felt some kind of energy come from his chest to his throat, then go my hand and finally ending up in my eyes as his body slowly went limp.
I then drag his body through the dirty mud since I wanted to find out if he had any family. It is the least I could offer him since I ended his pain. So I drag his corpse for about 5 metres away to a nearby town. It was nothing special. It had a dirt road, so it was a somewhat poor society, and the buildings were somewhat small compared to what I was used to.
So I knock on the door of the biggest building I could find and it was answered by a man with a dog face. "What do you want stranger?" he asked. Then drop the Vampire at his feet. "Is this thing yours?" I asked, "Who-Oh what happened?" he asked. "He jumped me, drank my blood and tried to kill me so I took his soul," I said. "I see, come in and tell us what you know," he said stepping aside.
After a loud ruckus in the building, everyone froze at the sight of me entering the place while dragging the vampire across the floor. The dogman then checks on the body while I was looking down at him. "Hmmm... you say you took his soul?" asked the dogman. "Yes," I confirmed. "He then scratched his chin. "Do you recognise this...creature?" asked the dogman.
"All I could gather was that he was some form of Vampire," I said. "Yeah, I'd say this one's got a 50 gold coin bounty on his head," he said. He then went to a nearby desk and got a few things and got a piece of paper. He then called me using hand motions and I walked there dragging the vampire with me. "Okay, leave the body here and write your name on this," he said.
I do just that and he hands me a pouch full of coins. "Where's the nearest tailor?" I ask him. "Across the street and two houses to the left, Agnus is really good. Tell her Lynn's son sent you and she'll get you the best suits in her shop," he said. I then nodded then left.
