Appreciation

By the time Theodore came home, it was almost time to go to bed. Coming through the back door, he was immediately tackled by his sister who was wiring for his arrival.

"Oh my goodness those boxes are huge! Let me see! Let me see!!!!" Megan hopped up and down taking the small box first from Theodore.

"Alright calm down, let put these boxes into your room" Theodore said. The two siblings went upstairs to Megan's room. After Theodore settle down the big box with the purple bow tie, he turned around to see Megan's bewildered face.

Megan was shocked beyond words when she opened the smaller box. She was looking at a pair of gorgeous purple heels and ruby earrings. "T-Theodore, how did you get these shoes? A-and these earrings are ruby encrusted! Who did you ask for help?"

Theodore started to panic and broke into cold sweat as he racked his brain trying to think of a good excuse. "Ahaha I once saved this young man from a mob of crazy ladies who were chasing him. He said he would return the favor with whatever I needed. So I guess he put a little extra in there because I accidentally said that you liked rubies ahahaha."

Megan's hands shook as she slowly opened the bigger box. This was nerve wrecking as she didn't think there was anything better than the heels and earrings, but opening the box and seeing the contents inside proved her wrong.

Inside the big box was a pastel purple dress that's folded neatly with a silver eye mask on top of it.

She took the mask and admired the beautiful details on it. Then she took her hands to feel the fabric of the silk dress. She unfolded the dress from the box to see the details embroidered on the front. Walking up to the oval mirror in her room, she took the dress and put it over her body. It was a prefect fit, not too big and not too small, just the perfect size. This dress was even fancier than the dress she had seen in the high-end boutique.

"Theodore... thank you" Megan said as she came over to hug her brother.

"No problem sis" Theodore said hugging her back.

"Wait what about your suit? That person didn't give you one?" Megan asked.

"He offered one to me, but I declined because I felt bad that he had already spent so much on you" Theodore lied. "Besides, I still have the suit that mother made for my nineteenth birthday. It still fits me."

"Okay, but say thank you to this person for me Theodore, I appreciated them helping me. On the other hand, when you go to the ball try to find me a sister-in-law please. Many ladies are going to the ball hoping to find a suitor" Megan teased her brother.

"Will you stop with that? I'm perfectly fine being single" Theodore rolled his eyes. He ruffled Megan's hair then walked out of her room to avoid further nagging.

Megan continued to look at the dress and the other accessories. She still couldn't believe it, the dress alone must've cost a pretty gold coin and the person also bought her shoes and accessories. Megan carefully put the dress back in the big box, the heels and earrings in the small box. Then she puts them neatly in her closet drawer. Megan was so excited to tell Marie about the news tomorrow that she couldn't sleep a wink.

The next morning, a young lady woke up feeling sluggish as she couldn't sleep last night. Megan sat up on the bed with her adorable bed hair. She went to fresh up and get ready to start the day when she suddenly remembered the luxurious dress. Megan ran to her closet and opened her drawer to see two boxes. She open the boxes to check if what happened last night was real and not a dream. Megan smiled and closed the boxes as she went downstairs to open the bakery with her family.

"Mother! The dress that Theodore brought back was gorgeous! You have to see it later, oh! I will be going to Marie later to tell her the good news! Hehehe" Megan giggled with a broad smile, showing her dimples.

"Alright alright" her mother laughed as she look at her hopping up and down.

After a day of customers coming in, "Vinnesia Bakes" closed.

"Mother, I'm going to Marie's place now!" Megan announced.

"Alright, get back home early!" Her mother replied as she sweep the floor.

"Okay!" Megan yelled as she left the bakery to see her best friend.
