Anticipation

Megan hopped through the streets towards "Hui's Pharmacy". She opened the door to see a few customers sitting in the waiting area for the Hui couple to finish making their medicine. Hearing the door bell ringing, Mrs. Hui looked over the counter to see Megan waving at her.

"Megan! How are you darling?" Mrs. Hui asked.

"All is well Mrs. Hui! I'm here to see Marie, is she upstairs?" Megan asked.

"Yes, she is! You can go on up oh! Give this hat to her, will you please?" Mrs. Hui said giving Megan a sun hat.

"Alright Mrs. Hui" Megan took the hat and sprint upstairs.

Megan knocked on the door as she yelled, "Marieeeeee~"

"I heard that annoyingly loud voice and knew it was you Meg" Marie said rolling her eyes.

Megan came hopping inside the room and sat on Marie's desk chair. She put the sun hat on the desk and excitedly said, "Marie you won't believe the dress that Theodore helped me find. It is GORGEOUS!"

"You managed to get a dress? Wow, your luck is really good" Marie said with a surprised look.

"I know right! The person that bought the dress also bought a mask, heels and earrings! Ruby earrings!"

As soon as Megan said ruby earrings, Marie slightly narrowed her eyes in suspicion. "Did Theodore mentioned the person's name that was willing to get you the dress?"

"No, he didn't. He just said that he helped this person out one time from a crowd of crazy ladies, and he owned Theodore a favor" Megan explained with innocent eyes.

"..." Marie had her own suspicion, but wasn't sure if she was right or not. Her hunch is telling her that it's definitely "that" person behind the scene. However, she didn't tell her best friend because she didn't want to crush Megan's expectations if her guess was proven wrong.

"What color is your mask? We can match our masks" Marie said as she took a bland white mask to show Megan.

"It is silver. Are you going to paint it silver?" Megan asked holding the white mask.

"Hm" Marie replied.

"Are your parents going to the ball too? My mother and father is, including Theo too... the whole family is going.

"No, they're not. They can't skip their responsibility giving the elderlies their timed prescriptions, so it's just me."

"Oh! Then come to my place on Saturday so we can ride the carriage together!"

"Sure"

The girlies talked and talked until it was night time. "Oh my goodness, my mother is going to kill me. I have to go home now" Megan hurriedly stood up, gave Marie a little kiss on the cheek and said goodbye. Heading out Megan gave the Hui couple a bow.

Megan walked home... but at a faster pace than she normally walked. There are fewer people walking on the streets, and Megan started to get scared as it was dark.

Her heart raced as her feet moved faster and faster. She have heard of girls being raped or molested during night time on the streets. Recalling the stories, Megan started to sweat with nervousness at the possibility of her being a victim. Then suddenly she felt a hand that pulled her into a dark alley. Megan was about to scream when the person with a hooded black cloak hugged her from behind. They had their arms around her waist as their head on the crook of her neck. She was confused and scared, but the person's scent smelt so good, it was addicting. They smelt like the fresh ocean breeze with a hint of mint. She felt as if the person hovered no bad intentions, yet their actions said otherwise.

"P-please let m-me go" Megan said with shaky voice.

"I'm sorry to scare you, I couldn't wait to meet you again...see you at the ball" the person said with their deep husky voice. The person's breath tickled Megan was they whispered into her ears. They saw the ruby hair pin on her head shining in the moonlight. With a small smile they let go of her and vanished into the night sky.

"What the fuck..." at the ball? Sorry to scare you? Megan was confused on who that was, but she didn't care as she ran for dear life.

She came back home around midnight and tiptoed to her bedroom. Thank god everyone was sleeping or else she would've heard an earful. Softly closing the door, Megan's legs finally gave up as she slumped on the floor. That was... terrifying, she never experienced something like this before and never want to experience it again. The man had said they he couldn't wait to see her again... but she doesn't recognize his sexy husky voice to be anyone that she knew. Megan was physically exhausted from the running and mentally exhausted too, so she didn't bother to change her clothes before hitting the sack.
