Chapter fifty eight

*The king's wives stepped forward along with the king and looked at their reflections with him .

Queen Alexa's moon appeared partially as she looked in the holy water with the king .This was unusual .*

"Queen Krystal ,please step forward and perform the moon sighting with the king ."

*Once she stepped forward ,her gaze and focus fell on Wales and his on hers .*

'If I don't get to see the king's reflections in the holy water ,then it will mean that Wales was right ,we are truly meant to be together . '

'You look really beautiful tonight ....the king said and kept starring at her beauty ' .

*Once they both looked into the holy water ,the moon became dimly lit so their reflections couldn't be seen properly .

This didn't seem to please the king at all * .

"My king ,this is inauspicious ,the priest said as the queens and the other royals stood up on their feet . The ministers and subjects were not left out either .

I suggest you look at your reflections again ,my king .

Otherwise ,it would mean that this is a bad omen for your kingdom and your reign as king" .

*They looked at their reflections for the second time ,this time their reflections got darker and so a third time was needed .

The moon didn't appear at all for the third time and this shocked everyone who was present in the hall * .

"What bad omen has reflected on this kingdom ,some subjects whispered among themselves " .

'This doesn't seem good for us .It has never happened ,the ministers and some royals discussed among themselves ' .

"My king ,the priest called out .If you couldn't see the reflection of your wife in the holy water for three consecutive times then there are two things involved ;

It 's either the queen has seen the reflection of another man or the queen isn't meant to be your wife ."

"What are you saying ,Priest ?"

I'm her perfect soulmate but if we can't see our reflections then it means that she has betrayed me with another man ,the king said with a smirk on his face ."

"My king ,we will know the truth once we ask her highness but before that, she will have to swear an oath to the great sorceress Rubida" .

*The sorceress was brought into the ceremonial hall and Krystal was made to swear an oath on her staff which she did without fear * .

"My Queen ,did you see the reflection of any other man apart from your husband while the moon bore witness today ?

" These words made Wales' heart beat faster than normal .

He was afraid that something would happen to his Krystal so he decided to stop it but his wife held his hand and asked him to comfort her because she was scared of what will happen " .

'No my priest ' ,she answered clearly .

*She was asked for the second time and still denied firmly * .

"My queen ,this will be the last time I ask you the same question .

If we find out that it's true then you will be struck down by the sword of the king so tell us the truth now ,the priest cautioned " .

"My priest ,I have no reason to deny in front of you .I have sworn already to the staff of the sorceress and I will do it again if you want me to but my answer still stays the same ,I didn't look at the reflection of any other man today ."

*After saying this ,she looked at Wales who shook his head to her decision and gave him a blink of her eye telling him not to worry .*

"It's good Rhian has got his hands so that he doesn't create a mess over here.

One single mistake of his will ruin in my plan to escape from here ."

"Your Majesty ,the sorceress began speaking ;

her highness has denied looking at any man's reflection so in order to prove this ,she will have to walk in the burning flames of fire barefooted .

Her denial to do this will mean she 's telling lies and therefore will be sentenced to death immediately ."

"What ?

Wales questioned himself as he looked at his love been tortured for nothing .

Sorceress ,he interrupted and caught everyone's attention in the hall ."

'Is this necessary at all ?

I mean that fire can kill even if you are ten meters away so why this punishment ? '

"My prince ,this is a custom which is performed in such situation.

You are against it because you haven't witnessed it before but today ,you will all witness this and the generations to come will also do same so I suggest you allow me do my duty ."

"Buh .....he didn't utter a single word as queen Marga stopped him right there " .

*What they didn't know is that Krystal was going through such torment to save her love *

"If the queen is really telling the truth then ,she should start her journey into the fire to prove herself ,the priest added ."

'Why do you have to go through so much for me when you were just telling me yesterday that ,you didn't feel the same I feel for you .

Why ? ,the prince cried within as both mother and wife had sandwiched him in their middle'.

'What more would you have to endure to cover up your lie Krystal ?

This burning flames of fire is no joke and even thirty meters away ,you feel the heat from the fire so how much more a minute closer to this fire ?

You will burn into ashes Krystal ,so back off and tell the truth .

No I won't do that .I will sacrifice to get what I want .

Krystal contemplates these words in her mind and draws a step closer to the fire without fear etched on her face.

*The fire was increased seven times higher than it was before yet Krystal kept walking towards it .

Alexa couldn't witness this so she bowed down her head and shed tears bitterly .*
