Central City Hospital

I stopped the car in front road leading to our office and saw Steven was waiting for someone outside. While getting down from the car I asked him whom he was awaiting.

"Emily is late."

"WHAT!"- an utter annoyance was expressed in my tone.

"I thought that, may be I am a bit late today! Did you call her?"

"Yea. She said, she's on the way."- Steven casually replied while I threw my car key to the security boy who would later park my car.

"Okay let's get in," I said, showing Steven the way towards the elevator and continued, "Hope she'll reach here before the meeting;" and as we were about to get into the elevator, a call from behind -

"HEY! WAIT, WAIT FOR ME!"- It was Emily, and I saw her practically running towards us with a bag on her shoulder and surprisingly with another bag on her hand.

"Here's your bag, Steven."- she said while panting.

"Thank you so much, dear."- Steven looked somehow grateful. But then again, I saw Steven is also a bit nervous. "Wait a minute!" – I asked.

"What?"- Emily looked at me while she had bent on her knees to catch some breaths.

"What are all these, you are late on the crucial day, and you brought a bag, and Steven thanked you, what signifies all, I can't really get you two."- I asked Emily while Steven was found hiding his face behind his office bag.

"Steven told me, he forgot the draft plan at his quarter, so I had to go to his place and bring that."- said Emily and as I glanced at Steven, I found he was still hiding his face behind his bag.

"I see, but, Steven was telling me, you're late but he never mentioned the reason behind."- I said and Emily made her big eyes round and gazed at Steven and in the mean time the elevator brings us on our office floor.

It took a quarter hour to check out all the files including mine, and before getting ready for the meeting we talked about the strategy, how we would be going to place our project before them and treat them accordingly.

"Ma'am."- Peter came in and called me. It was unusual from him to call me like that, because even the day before yesterday we all were friends, how come this friendship gets terminated; we used to share lunch, gossip together, laugh or shout at each other all out, and in a spontaneous manner. I don't expect it to be over for my being a superior in post. I looked at him.

"They're coming, Director ma'am informed over phone."

"Yea. so? We all know Peter, they will be coming any moment, nothing new about it dear."- I wanted to release the tension from his face.

"Had anybody checked the project room, the wires and connections, all okay, the projector?"- I asked casually.

"Remember, last time the projection got stopped, I don't want to get embarrassed this time."

Emily went out for inspection and Peter followed her. Steven laid his hand helping me arranging all papers in line, the company profile, price offer paper, insurance documents, lease deeds, the advertisements published in journals etc.

Steven helped me to carry all the papers, files to the project room; a broad room it is, with a large table in the middle with grey painted walls on three sides and a beautifully designed stained glass door in one side. 10 chairs around were placed to make the table fully mannered. I came out of the room. A glorious sunshine has covered the veranda outside the room, as if bringing the good luck to all of us, and we were enthralled with a descent and pleasant mood. A mild breeze outside the window were felt as I stood outside the room, I wanted to be alone and refresh myself last minute before the crucial talk. I looked back to my colleagues, who were still at work to make the room look more beautiful.

And finally, the visitors arrive.

'Am I a bit nervous today? Being the head manager of the company, this is the first business deal I am handling, and the amount involved here is quite huge.'

The visitors team is comprised of two perfect gentlemen and one elderly lady.

'She must be the chairperson of the company.' I thought to myself.

Everybody took their seat. I found suddenly Peter went out of the room and I began with a small introduction.

"Hello! I'm Hannah Masefield. The Head Manager of the Dobson's Pvt. Ltd."- I took a pause and then looked at my colleagues and introduced them to the visitors. "Emily Keys, my companion secretary and Steven Paul, Head of the workers. We are here on behalf of our Head."- Emily and Steven shook hands with all of them and then the lady said with a beautiful accented voice.

"Hello. I'm Merry Brooks. I'm the chairperson of Brooks and Shields' Pvt. Ltd."

We presented our project plan and the offers for the normal buyers and we stressed that they being most valuable customers we have decided a better deal for them. They showed us some of their previous works which I found much neat and clean than ours. But still I was hoping that they will like our projects.

Some hours passed away in this meeting and we were still advocating all about our company benefits. Projection screen demonstrates our production styles, the job pattern and our special surveillance on the quality of the production.

"This is how Dobson's unity works."- I exclaimed with a satisfactory tone in my voice while had a scrutinizing eye on them and then continued further, "we have also captured some good memories with the customer and you can easily understand our previous parties have already…Oh! Excuse me -" I got cut off by my ringtone.

'Bloody shit! I forgot to switch off my phone.'

I quickly pressed the power button to cut the call and then again continued with my presentation.

But in the following second the phone began to ring.

'Who the hell is this?'

Before I disconnect the call the lady nodded her head, implying that, I should take the call. Embarrassed I took the phone on my hand.

"Well, I'm letting you to watch the video and gentlemen please excuse me, I'm coming in just few minutes."- I came out of the room and received the call.

"Hello! Is this Hannah Masefield?"- I heard a voice of a lady from the other side.

"Yes. Who's this? I'm in the middle of an important meeting. So can you please call me later."

"Sorry ma'am, but this is to inform you that your daughter is in Central City Hospital and she had caught in an accident."- my heart seemed stopped working and the phone slipped down from hand and it hit the ground.

I quickly picked up the phone and heard Peter was calling me from behind; he wanted to ask me something, I simply ignored him and went inside the room.

"Emily I need your help."- Everyone looked at me as my face must have worn a worried look by then. I continued,

"Well I'm so sorry ma'am and gentlemen. It was an urgent call from hospital, my little daughter had been hurt in an accident, and I've to rush now. Emily will guide it all on behalf of me. Please excuse me, I am really sorry!"- I tried to bring out a false smile on my face but became unsuccessful, tear drop is ready by then to roll down my cheeks, and I hurriedly rushed out of the room.

Coming out of the main door of the office, I started running. I didn't know who, but someone called me from my back. But I just ignored it and ran off from the main big gate of the office.
