Chapter 31: DOOM

Slowly we ascend, the boy helping us as we escape,

Each grabbed and gripped, then held our breaths,

Thankful we managed to escape,

Before it's all too late.

It was dark, and the only light we have was the shining stars above,

It felt chilly, but we were thankful for what he have,

Each felt empty, almost surreal of what we just decided to do,

But one's certain, is that we all hoped we made the right decision through.

Carefully, the young boy lead us back to our old shelter...

Empty, smelly, but no devil is better,

Because here, we know, that we won't be tricked,

won't falter,

We make experience hunger, but it's better than living in danger.

The boy told us that because he's near, the devils won't find us,

We felt satisfied, and hoped he's worthy of our trust,

Then all of us decided that this house seems too inhabitable,

That we must take action, clean this,

Till living in this space, seems reasonable.

We cleaned the blood filled house,

but...

A memory of horror came back,

A sense of terror, aroused,

This is real time perhaps,

Or the presence of uncertainty we once lacked...

We slept, not certain of tomorrow,

We slept, wondering if we'd eat or experience sorrow,

We slept, wondering how time we're left to borrow.

And while I fell, I dreamed once more...

A distant place, filled with many trees,

Blue sky, blue birds, blue fish and seas,

A beautiful scenery, stretched far and wide,

Where plants and animals, were roaming on every side.

I heard laughter, of men and children,

I heard songs from what I thought were angels,

I heard duets and saw dancing in the pond,

While some were building castles from the white pure sand.

What is this? I asked myself,

As I walk, and compare of what in reality,

We had left...

This was beauty, but back there was grief,

But in the end, we're the one who robbed this future,

We're the one supposed to be called thieves.

Then as I was wondering, loving the dream,

A dove perched on to me, beady eyes so it seems,

It chirped and sung a beautiful tune,

That made me forgot the horrors and doom.

The more I stayed, the more I don't want to leave,

This place was heaven, I don't care if I am deceived,

This is peace, a well deserved release,

When would I come here? Shall I know at least?

But despite all the calm, the beauty I am witnessing,

I remembered that it is no different,

From when we were with the devils..

Comfort is deserved, not grabbed or simply wished for,

So as much as I wanted to stay,

I changed my mind and decided to wake.

The smell of blood and chaos greeted me in the morning,

The sound of hunger was what came next,

I felt like crying, thinking if this is the end of me,

But I tried to be positive, and hoped that someday...

we'll reach success.

The boy greeted us, and gave us pieces of bread,

It was just enough, and we were thankful for we were fed,

But while we were feasting, by the looks we gave each other I knew they were thinking back,

Now the devils are awake, I wonder what they'll think?

Would they attack?

...

The devils, woke up, with cheerful grins,

Excited to commit, yet another great sin,

But the moment they prepared breakfast, yet another bountiful feast,

They noticed the number of people, were yet so very least.

They tried to hide, their disappointment and anger,

And tried to smile, but became more pissed as time grows longer,

Just what did happen? Why did some run away from wealth?

Do they want to experience hunger?

It felt too soon, too soon for them to process,

They gave everything, from small things to bigger wishes,

But why would they go away?

Escape from all this wonderful dishes?

How they wondered hard, did they got bored,

What else to do? To make sure the rest won't do the same...

They kept feeding them, grooming them,

Making sure they're satisfied.

The rest of them were so unaware,

And as time passed by, the devils grows more hungry.

Eat, play, sleep, repeat,

Life has never been this sweet.

Eat, play, sleep, repeat,

None of them saw their grinning sharp teeth.

Eat, play, sleep and repeat!!!

No one noticed that they'll soon be the brand new meat...

They became fatter, but soon began to realized better,

Were they all being fed to die?

The endless cycle could make one seem insane,

It was comfort, it was peace, but it didn't felt like the same.

This was no heaven, they don't feel happy,

All they ever had, was a tummy never hungry,

But in reality, they were like goats on a fence,

Fed, groomed, their purpose never made no sense!

The devils sensed their hesitance,

The next day they prepared yet another meal,

But since they dont want them to run yet another far distance,

They decided all the openings be sealed...
