Chapter 67: A FEELING OF LONGING

Ken remembered the scent of ink,

The cool wind blowing in the window,

As he focused on the table-barely blinks,

Writing the news he was given so.

He was passionate about writing,

Although his own mother barely supports him with anything,

She was always looking away, as he was desperate to prove,

But it matters not-as he was always deemed not too good.

He remembered the headache, and the tears forming in his eyes,

As exhaustion seeped to him, and the number of crumpled papers began to rise,

His fingers felt sore, but he tried to remain in his seat,

Wanting to prove to her mother, to recieve her acknowledgement, sweet.

The heat of the sun soon warmed him inside,

As he looked at his papers, how many he tried,

He stared at his bed, and how tired he's been,

If only this hardwork, his busy mother have seen.

He managed to finish it, and how excited he was,

As he looked for his former teacher, his steps walking fast.

"I've got what you asked for, Sir,"

"Good, although I thought it would take much while,"

Ken gave the news articles, in hopes to be credited as a contributor,

But that dream soon faded away, as he was greeted with something bitter,

His name was not on the paper, yet his rich student was,

He even tried to bribe him, but that moment destroyed all his trust.

Broken hearted and upset, he walked back disappointed,

Knowing that all those time and effort, had surely been wasted,

Many times before, he have always been an object,

Used, then set aside, was helping them even worth it?

Then he remembered meeting a woman,

One day at the park, as he quickly ran,

Smitten in love the first time they met,

How mistaken he was, it was only a bet.

Money, heart, time, he lost them all,

Surely it was a mistake, for to her he had fall,

Depressed and broken, as she rejected her calls,

Only to see her with someone else on the busy mall.

Why did mother not love him?

Why do others only use him?

Why would they always want something?

But give him back with nothing?

He remembered clearly one of the last calls from his mother,

As she cry on the phone, "Please help your brother,"

And he did, he spent, a whole lot of money,

To save for his brother's expensive surgery.

He knew well how she loved him more than he,

So he set away pride and let things be,

Although sometimes a thought would sneak,

"Why couldn't it just be me?"

Maybe when he's the one visibly hurt and paralyzed,

Maybe his mother would soon begin to realize,

How important he is to her life,

How truly sad he is beneath his guise.

Ignored like before he decided to left,

Now feeling alone, he was buried with debts,

His life went downhill, as he slowly lost faith,

But how can he not, at this depressing rate?

At one point he saw his younger self,

Wishing quietly for the world to end,

And one day he woke up hearing monsters call,

As the world start to break, and humanity to fall.

Now Ken found himself covered in darkness,

As a voice called out to him in the cold nothingness,

"Knowing you've been used all your life,

Would you still help the heavens in this fight?"

He felt himself crying,

"Not doing so wouldn't be wise..."

For the first time, he was very willing,

Now able to have, someone worth fighting,

He was scared, sure, but he knew one truth,

She have gone through more, yet she gave him comfort.

He woke up, his heart felt like shattered glass,

As his mind was enlightened and very touched,

Many questions still exist in his mind,

But for now, those questions, must be first thrown behind.

He tried to stand, although sleep deprived,

As he had more nightmares, than dreams combined,

He tried to remain strong, though his hurt cannot hide,

As he tried to practice more, as others watch him from the side.

It was truly unfortunate how he wanted not to be a hero,

But in the end was chosen for this fight for tomorrow,

Was it destiny? Fate or perhaps just merely chance?

Though clear, to the devils, and angels, he'd partake in, a deadly dance.

For maybe, MAYBE this will give him the acknowledgment he longs for,

Would cover up the failed efforts he tried before,

Maybe this would prove he's not worthless,

That he was more than a dysfunctional mess,

Once longing for his mother's love and sweet caress.

...

Elenchos felt still as Sellena spoke such words,

But soon replied, "Don't speak of that to Asmodeus, one of the Lords,"

"What do you expect? A child of God falling for such spawn of hell?

Well surely, you should put your feet on my shoes, so you could tell,"

Her words were like poison to his ears,

Asmo tried to walk away, in a brink of tears,

She was right, but why does it sting?

How stupid of him, to think that her eyes would see him more as her everything.

Meanwhile, Sellena regretted spewing her thoughts,

As Asmodeus had been kinder to her than most,

In embarrassment she apologized as quickly,

"Well, maybe, we'd get along eventually?"

Elenchos smiled, then thought for a while,

"Maybe, but you truly have to try,

You're lucky you haven't met him back in the time,

Where he was the walking Death, and keep demons in line,

His presence screams respect, as he was easily angered,

Influenced by Satan, who found him and was then his Master,

After all, Asmodeus means Wrath,

And who would you expect to name him that?"

Surprised and curious of this newfound information,

She couldn't help but ask him more questions,

"Found him? What was his true name then?"

"Only Satan knows, but he'd probably never tell,"

"Then why the sudden change?"

"Maybe he got tired from all the rage,"

"Why is he and Satan not close anymore?"

"Satan is busy, and Asmodeus was raised by Belphegor,"

"That...explains a lot, but do you know his full past?"

"Hmmm, go easy on those questions, and not so fast,

But to be honest with you, no one ever replies to me about that,

Might be tragic or embarrassing, but I don't know a lot,"

"Ah, that's still something, but why is he obsessed with sleeping around?"

"I guess that's the closest thing to love he'd ever get,

You know, true love for demons is rarely found,

But I really don't know, you should ask him out,"

"Never mind, I tried once but he dodged my question,"

"Well, maybe it should be your new mission,"

"I won't, it might change my perspective,"

"Are you afraid of falling for him? So it would be easier to leave?"

Sellena's eyes widened in shock,

As Elenchos leaned, and then quickly laughed,

"Don't worry I won't tell anybody,

I can be your friend, when you have nobody..."

Sellena only felt half assured, but wary as well,

As he was still a demon, she doesn't know well,

She smiled at him softly, but to his eyes she dare not fell,

For if he really is sincere, that much she cannot tell.

...

Satan walked passed Sellena, still talking to mammon's son,

He quickly felt angry, knowing what Sellena to Asmo has done,

He remembered she was the reason, why Lucifer got mad,

And gave Asmodeus the punishment, he never was supposed to had.

He gave her an angry look, as he trailed behind Lucifer,

And by those eyes, Sellena, couldn't help but slightly shiver,

His red eyes were dangerous, and felt very much threatening,

But more so to Ciana, who was now the center of attention,

As the demons gathered, happily watching.
