Chapter 68: A SECRET RESCUE

Ciana kept a straight face, but even he, was afraid of Death,

He looked at Lucifer in the eyes, even though he knew, mercy, he will never get,

"True or not, I will not let you live if I cannot get your abilities,

So say goodbye to your world, and make your last wish,"

He closed his eyes simply, and didn't move at all,

"I thought you were given up by angels, do you expect them to answer your call?"

Lucifer pulled his hair as he slammed him on the table,

"Pay attention to me, say my name and COWER!"

"Lucifer, calm down, I've been telling you this all along,

This could be an angel, a spy, and we could be wrong,"

"Shut it, Belphegor, you know the angels are too morally right to do that,"

"So sacrificing a human won't be so bad?

Lucifer, think again, even God sacrificed His only son for humanity,

What makes you think angels won't sacrifice one of their own, eventually?

We need to be smarter, I've had reports that archangels had come back to heaven to replenish,

If we give them more time, then this war will never be finished,"

"But it could also be that they are afraid and would let me rule the earth,

After all, I'm just being confident, and it wouldn't hurt,"

"Have you heard their story of Icarus? I think you need to know it,

You're at it again, falling for such tricks aren't worth it,"

"Fine, let's say he's an angel, and so?

That's such a cheap blow,

If they failed to convince us, what then?

We'd kill him either ways and?"

Ciana smirked as they continued to argue,

If they're not falling for the trick and those who believed are only few,

He guessed he needs to stick to Selaphiel's plan,

Give out the prison location, for reapers,

to save as many as they can.

The seven demons continued to give out opinions,

As the angels' allied reapers proceeded with their action,

Soon, Asmodeus heard the ruckus from below,

"You're the closest to the door, so you should go,"

Lucifer ordered, as Asmodeus followed dilegently,

Quite worried of the noise, and was more than shocked when he reached the prison halls,

Humility, the head of all reapers stared at him menacingly,

"Let's see who among us, would fall,"

The reapers gathered, and though quite few,

Most are tactical, and predicted what the'yd do,

The other demons ran for their lives at the sight of the Reapers,

Knowing that they have fought them more than once, and in sheer abilities and tactics are much stronger.

"We've been quite busy mowing the souls but the angels gave us a quest,

I guess after this, we could have our sweet deserved rest,"

Holland, the second strongest said,

As he striked to attack head to head.

Asmodeus was given no choice but to fight them on his own,

As he was surrounded, and all the more, just quite alone,

And even if a few demons stood by his side,

They were merely distractions, and eventually died.

Asmodeus may be strong, but he relied on his enchanted objects,

So he was careful, and tried to analyze their movements,

The reapers struggled as Asmodeus was fast,

He easily dodged their attacks, and reading him was a task.

His smug grin was on all the time,

Showing no fear or remorse, as he burns the field with fire,

The smoke made it harder for them to see him through,

As he showed them who he was, and he was better than they knew.

Despite his youthful face, and his mentality,

He was quite strong and even scary,

He laughed all the more, as he hunted them one by one,

Reminding them that he's far superior, by everything he've done.

But Humility's team were mainly a distraction to keep him busy,

As the other reapers appear on the cage, their job quite easy,

Teleport some humans, for as many as they can carry,

As Asmodeus fought, still aware something's fishy.

The reapers tried to scatter, and locate more people to save,

But that very opportunity, Asmodeus never gave.

He blocked the exits with flames,

As he reminded them who controls the game.

Not being able to see anything but smoke,

Humility didn't take the risk and ordered to fall back,

The other prison cages are unidentified,

But soon, information they will strive to provide.

They disappeared one by one in retreat,

As Asmodeus wasn't sure if victory he achieved,

As he was left all alone with such mess,

"Lucifer would be mad," he sadly guessed.

Ciana only managed to identify one location,

But because of it, saved people from torture sessions,

And even if Lucifer believed Belphegor in the end,

Ciana did his job, to serve and to lend.

He was killed in cold blood,

His body tortured in unimaginable ways,

He screamed and struggled, oh how they've turned mad,

Even drowning in lava, wouldn't have been so bad.

The last thing he saw, was Satan's face,

As he had the widest smile, clearly amazed,

Amazed of such suffering, and delighted by his tears,

As he screams for mercy, but they pretend not to hear.

Death was a gift, as he breathed his last,

His chest no longer heavy, as he died so fast,

His fingers twitched one last time as the demons felt upset,

"He's already dead, so go on and clean this mess,"

"Which reminds me, isn't there a noise below?"

Mammon asked worriedly, "Maybe someone stole our gold!"

"Don't be stupid, no one would dare touch your money...

Wait...why didn't Asmodeus came back immediately?"

Leviathan hurried downstairs,

As others followed, why Mammon barely cares,

If it's not his gold, or son, then he's well,

While Satan simply sighed, he's as self-centered as one could tell.

They came and saw a mess,

Demons dead, as the reapers completed their quest,

Asmodeus turned around rather shaking,

As Lucifer was still in awe, of such scene so unforgiving.

"Lucifer, this isn't his fault," Satan reminded as he surveyed his emotions,

Belphegor hurried to Asmodeus' cost,

As Leviathan summoned his water dragon to wash the halls.

Beelzebub helped, by eating the remains,

As Lucifer sighed, not sure how to feel,

"Asmodeus, how strong were they?"

"Strong, but...I'd make them pay in a way!"

Frustrated that he had still been outsmarted, Lucifer could not be talked that day,

As he locked himself in his room, as Satan waited,

Not wanting to leave by the door, and simply stayed.

Asmodeus felt guilty, moreso because he wasn't punished,

Even Sellena noticed his uneasiness, that never seem to diminish,

He was quiet, and felt very upset,

That the once happy Lucifer, was now heavily distressed.

Sellena sighed, even though happy he's not very annoying now,

His vibe was very off, and it was surely wearing her down.

"What's bothering you?" She asked, trying to sound sincere,

"Don't worry about me, just sleep, than lending your ear,"

"But I really want to know, why are you so gloomy tonight?"

He looked at her, and he felt his chest turn suddenly tight.

"It's...nothing to be worried off,

Now...to bed you go and goodnight,"

...

"It must be a second plan, for such move was so bold,

They failed to convince us, so to the other plan they hold,

They knew they cannot save everyone, but for the sacrifice not to be in vain,

They pursued to atleast free some,

although they knew the imposter would be slain,"

Satan explained, trying to cheer Lucifer,

"You made the right decision still, even if at first you weren't sure,"

"I just wanted to be the most powerful being...to surpass God and to rule,

But their actions, made me look like a fool,"

"I guarantee you that we can improve from this,

Just give it more time, and soon you'll be free to do as you please,

So just chin up, and keep it together,

One day we'd defeat them, it won't take forever..."
