Chapter 111: THE POWER OF OUTCOMES

Ken and Mar held each other's hand tightly,

As the reapers scanned the place, carefully and silently.

One felt a movement scurry from behind,

That he quickly tightened the hold of his scythe.

"Get ready," he told the others calmly.

Which formed a small circle, to guard the two humans from the enemy.

The darkness seemed still, and so was the air,

That they slowly doubt, if they're overprepared.

In the end,

They saw nothing, and continued to move on,

As the rain kept pouring, it was such a heavy storm.

As they continued to walk, they could hear females scream and cry,

It was by then that they realized, it was the devils' concubines.

Some were left behind, for they could only fit so few on the arena,

The reapers scanned each room, seeing most of them were starved and in trauma.

Some were still undressed,

And all seemed quite depressed,

Some can't even form coherent sentences,

Most of which, looked like a mess.

Mar bit her lips, and felt extremely angry,

While Ken only felt nothing but pure raw pity.

How could they do this everyday?

Seeing people cry, suffer dismay.

"Those devils...I can't believe this,"

Mar said in a deep voice, clearly pissed.

Ken only helped, unchaining the women from their beds,

As Mar calmed them down, as they holler, their cheeks all wet.

"We'll give you five minutes to recover and we move forward,"

One reaper said, determined to continue onward.

But Mar felt it was way too short,

Some could even barely stand, and many are wounded, "Could it not be sort?"

"Young lady, those who cannot stand, or those we cannot carry,

We're gonna have to leave them, I'm very sorry.

We're just a few reapers, and there's still plenty of rooms ahead,

We care, we do. But it can't be helped to leave some be,"

Ken sighed, and looked at one of the weakest ladies,

Although his body is still in a traumatized state, he decided to man up and carry,

Mar carried one as well, determined to save as many,

As the reapers did so, although many are left behind, "We're sorry,"

Most that were left cannot feel their legs,

Or those who simply cannot be communicated with,

Although the reapers knew the importance of souls,

They know the harsh truth, that they cannot save all.

The reapers could only grab as much as they could,

One even decided to assist two.

Some women who are strong enough to stand,

Decided to carry some of the women, without command.

Even with such help,

Ken and Mar felt frustrated,

There are so many they cannot saved,

That they had to pass along the way.

Their steps were now more identified,

And their breaths more heavy,

The reaper ahead of them said a warning,

To keep their voices down, as he feels something is coming.

An idea then popped to Mar's head,

"Why can't we just turn them into birds instead?"

"Their bodies are too frail to accept magic,

If they do, they'll definitely be dead.

Magic drains the person as they use so,

It works on every being, one cannot simply be forever strong,

Those women, if we could, we'd do everything to save them,

But listen carefully, deciding in a blur is our biggest problem,"

Mar quiet down as Ken saw her legs trembling,

Mar may have been tired, since carrying a body sure could be exhausting.

The woman she's holding, realized her shaking,

That with tears in her eyes, she told her to leave her be.

Mar was quick to deny the idea,

And told her that they'd reach Utopia,

But the woman felt she was being a burden,

"You may get left behind, if I'd be the reason for your demise, myself cannot be forgiven,"

Suddenly the reapers heard more noises from behind,

The woman on Ken's back quickly went down and warned them all,

"I know those sounds, it's Mammon's scouts,

The scent of coins, the atmosphere around,"

She showed them the mark on her arm,

And the bruises left when she was being harmed,

"I am a concubine of one of the leaders,

If they find you, they'd have coins grow into your stomach and livers,"

The strongest reaper of the bunch summoned a shade,

A part of them that could fly the other way,

It's a bird, the form of a shadowy creature,

He quickly sent off, to know the path they'd venture.

When the being went back, delivering the news,

That the other path is crowded, and to go there was no use,

The reapers were quick to decide, that they teleport the humans,

But Ken said firmly, "Send the women first, I'll wait, and by then, hide,"

"Are you out of your mind?

This mission was to bring you safely, one wrong decision cannot be put on rewind,"

"I can fight, and hold them off for some time,

Those women don't stand a chance, just letting them wait here, would be a crime,"

Even Ken could not believe the words spurring out of his mouth,

He would have loved to get away from here, but he'd do everything for the woman he loves.

He knew Mar needs to get out of here, and so were those ladies,

That he knew have been through worse, and would then have a chance to leave finally.

Though the reapers were deeply against it,

They simply don't have time to argue and leave him for the moment,

One reaper however, who had never talked before,

Stayed by Ken's side as he watch Mammon's scout near.

The enchantments put on by the witches,

made the reapers have difficulty returning back and forth,

And teleporting the people so, took them all their effort.

It was as if passing through a wall, and having to destroy it,

The abilities they have, were truly limited.

Soon, all women were safely transported,

As Ken felt grateful, his heart full of thanks.

And yet when he was about to celebrate,

He realized what could have been his fate.

Ken smelled the scent of money,

And heard the steps noting many,

The clanging of earrings, of coins, of silvers,

The laughter of men, the deadly aura of devils.

The reaper behind him, quickly held him up,

As the two turned to lizards, that stucked above.

Since Ken had just carried a woman in the back,

Having him accept the magic, was like being drugged.

He felt dizzy, he felt like he could barely hold it all,

As the reaper reminded him, to keep his hands on the ceiling or he'll fall.

The men walked by, wondering why the rooms were empty,

They looked at the window, and was fearful of the time Lucifer sees.

By looking at one of the men,

Ken saw a quick vision sprang up to his head,

A scene of the devil attacking,

And the reaper beside him dying.

Fearful that it was not just a thought,

He convinced the reaper, that they fly away with all they got.

The reaper convinced him that the men were too many,

To venture outside as well, could be quite a risk to carry.

The reaper confesses that he doesn't have much energy left,

And that he stayed behind, for he knew his nearing death,

At least, he wanted to make some use of his ability,

Before being wiped out, and forgotten eventually.

Ken felt angry, that the reaper lost hope,

As he counted the enemies, they were 30 at most.

He thought about it, and felt the light in him radiate,

Hoping that he aims perfectly, or they'd both have the same fate.

Before he does any action,

He waited for another vision,

His head gave quick interpretations,

Which made him feel dizzy, but desperate for fixation.

He recalled them time and time again,

Although it almost made him insane,

By mastering the turn of events,

He reverted back with confidence.

The reaper was shocked of his sudden decision,

And fell with him, hoping to get part of the action.

The demons laughed, and taunted the seer,

Without knowing, that the outcomes to him is clear.

"Someone's cocky," One demon said as he ran towards him,

But Ken quickly dodged and gave him a painful kick.

The other demons tried to attack,

But Ken knew their actions, even those in the back.

He dodge, dodge, as the reaper slay them with his scythe,

Although he knew well, that his energy is disappearing with every swipe.

Ken aimed at one of the demons who's not paying mind,

Making the reaper realize, Ken know how to fight.

"Stay back, Mr. Reaper, it's my turn to test this skills,

I cannot let you do this, I cannot let you killed,

By memorizing the most common outcomes, we have an advantage here,

Just use your raw strength, and hold on to life until,"

Ken was tired, that's for sure,

But he knew that failing, isn't an option,

He fails to remember all of the outcomes,

But managed to get most things done.

He decided to play the visions as he fight,

Now realizing, that his abilities could be quite a fright,

The demons felt scared that he was aware of their next moves,

That they ended up down, and badly bruised.

Ken was scratched, and his face a bit bloody,

After being slammed to a wall, and losing his jacket in the hurry.

Despite being outnumbered, he was surprised to see them down,

The power of visions, of knowing the nearest outcome.

Even the reaper felt impressed,

He was strong and capable, in his own way,

As he wasn't alive yet when the legend was born,

He now was lucky to witness,

A direct descendant, that fought through storms.

Ken felt his adrenaline fade,

As he felt like falling to his grave,

The reaper carried him as they wander outside,

Where to the other reapers, after a while, they reunite.
