Chapter 114: BACK ON TRACK

Ken kept looking around,

The people there were so feeble, they barely make a sound.

They eat contently, without much complain,

As the children either sleep, or quietly play.

It sure felt something, seeing humans once again by his side,

He felt joy, and sadness, both at the same time.

Joy, since he knew he's not the only one with such burden,

Sadness, because their own world had been blatantly stolen.

Mar saw how he clenched his fist,

Seeing a bright and peaceful tomorrow, was a far-fetched wish,

He closed his remaining eye, as he began to sigh,

"Martha, do you think we could see, a new world again, alive?"

The woman gave a supportive smile,

"We have God and His angels right by our side,

What are we doubting for? No matter how it turns out,

I believe we'd win, so chin up and be proud,"

"That's not what I meant,

The world could be saved, but what if we're dead?

What if it costs it our life, so the future lives?

I...I'm honestly still fearing, the death latched within.

More so, I feel awfully tired of how slow my progress is,

Many have died, from those monstrous beasts.

I'm afraid I'm not doing what I'm meant to do,

I'm afraid I won't be able to save them and you..."

Mar nodded her head, and simply pat his back,

She understand his worries, and the courage he lacks,

Powers or not, who wouldn't be afraid of Death?

Most of people who try to end their lives, may have regretted it, she bet.

Mar sighs, and looked around them,

"The humans...they learned humility after all,

They keep learning, and because of such hardships let their egos go,

They realized that everything's a blessing, even a simple tomorrow.

Every breath we take, we owe it to God, right, Ken?

All the trees, the air, the skies and men,

And if God takes it, why blame our Creator?

He planned every page of our lives, that's for sure.

At first, when we first met, I relied most on my instincts,

On myself, on my abilities, on what I do or think,

But looking back at what happened, I realized I'm too powerless,

Without God's guidance, I would have met Death.

I realized that every good thing that happened to me, isn't just because of me,

That I need to have a wider perspective, so that I could see.

So Ken, I know you have doubts, but it's normal and fine,

Just remember how far you've come, and what so if we die?

If it's written that way, then why question His work?

What matters is that we made our life worth.

Back at our hometown, it's only wars and chaos,

But I'm still thankful, because until now we haven't lost.

We haven't lost hope, that keeps the person alive and fighting,

Because if it's gone, then it's the same as dying,

I'm happy I never lost faith, in God, in His promises,

I'm happy I've changed, and I think it's the best.

I have my life, hurt, but alright,

You have yours too, although it cost you your eye.

You know, I'm actually proud of you either way,

You kept your humility, despite your powers growing day by day.

Maybe if it's someone else, suddenly finding out you're a seer would make them cocky,

But the fates chose you, and I think the world is lucky.

I'd rather have a humane hero, slowly realizing his potential,

Than a cocky narcissistic hero, whose weaknesses he kept in denial,

You're honest, and I love that about you,

You're inspiring, although you had no clue.

But remember this, you're not just a hero,

You're Ken, a survivor, fighting for tomorrow.

You're just like us, you're always like us,

A man striving to live, and not give up.

So please, don't think too much,

Just do your best, and to God, put trust.

Instincts will be useless when you don't have faith,

I learned that, perhaps a little too late.

It took me the end of the world to realize this kind of stuff,

But it's better late, than never at all."

Ken smiled at her, and felt enlightenment,

"Mar, the seer should have been you, you're strong and intellegent,"

"You're flattering me, but it's easy to say because I'm not in your shoes,

If I were the seer, I honestly may not know what to do.

And Ken, didn't I just recently told you?

No matter how this ends up, I'm proud of you,"

Ken remembered the kiss she gave him back at the Devil's lair,

Her bold act, that made him brave,

He turned peach red, and Mar laughed lightly,

"What's up with you? You're all red and blushy!"

"I...thank you, for...for always being there,

But...I, I have...(something to tell),

(Nevermind, telling her will be useless),

I...think you're really cool (in every sense),"

Mar laughs more, "You're really making me smile wider!

Oh how I wonder who you took after!"

"Hahah, but you deserve every praise you get,

I'm just happy, we met..."

Mar stopped laughing at the change of tone,

"I wouldn't have survived, if it were me, alone,"

Ken held her hand, and shyly squeeze it tight,

"So now I promise, I'd continue to fight,"

Mar giggles and leaned to his ear,

"Thank you for being my voice, when the words aren't clear,"

And like that she placed a quick peck on his cheek,

That after such action, Ken couldn't right away speak.

Mar kept teasing Ken about how blushy he became,

As Lluming kept watching them, amused of their games,

He wondered why Ken becomes so red after a quick kiss,

Of how such romantic feelings, the heart and mind twist?

He recalled his encounter with Sellena, herself,

It just happens she's the first woman, he had his feelings swept.

He knew it may just be confusion, as he was new to being a mortal,

So he set those feelings aside, since it's never even mutual.

He wondered how she's doing,

if she's still holding on, or maybe crying.

If she still sees Asmodeus as a good guy,

Or if her perspective was changed after watching him kill Uriel on sight.

Still, just how can Lluming stop this feelings deep inside?

A feeling of longing, he don't know could split his mind,

Raphael saw him holding his chest as he kept frowning,

So he approached, the ever serious Lluming.

"Just what are you doing?"

He quickly turned around, "Ah! This is nothing!"

"Heh, but I caught you, you were thinking of something,"

"It's just...a tight and confusing feeling,"

"Are you infantuated by someone? Those red ears don't lie one bit,"

"No sir Raphael, I don't think that's it,"

"Keep lying and you'd go to hell,"

"Okay, I admit defeat! How do you know me so well!"

"It's easy to see who's in love or not,

It can be distinguished, even if you're a fool or smart,

I can see your expression, soften a bit,

I guess it's a woman, who took you off your feet,"

"I'm just new to this, so it cannot he helped,

Besides, she may be in love with someone else,"

"Ah, poor mortal. That's something I'd never feel,

Since I'm still a spirit, whose romantic feelings are sealed.

But if I could ask, may I know who she is?"

"She's Sellena, the prisoner, and wife of the fifth,"

"Ah, really? That woman destined to help the seer?

Is she truly in love, with the demon of lust, is my hearing clear?"

"Whenever she looks at him, it was warm and tender,

She's letting her guard down, that's for sure,"

"What can you expect, from the son of the King of manipulation,

He've learned from the best, and with apparent succession,"

"That's what I find very confusing,

To Satan compared, he is nothing,

He doesn't act, nor look like him,

He's just a demon, whose carelessness and lust is his sin.

He's gentle, whenever he's around her,

He treats her nicely, and every day they get closer,

What I find intriguing,

Is that his onyx eyes seemed genuine,

He doesn't feel like a demon at all,

It's not too impossible, if Sellena falls.

Truth be told, it's like he's two people in one body,

One the friend, one the enemy.

Despite those said, I'm still quite angry,

He killed Uriel after all, I now lost my emphaty."

"Hmm, I still think it's his disguise,

And falling for his tricks, is never wise,

They're demons, master of deception,

Getting near one, is not a good decision.

Just forget about the good side he showed you,

He may be fooling you, it may not be true,

Keep your goal, clean and simple,

Kill all evil, and same the people."

Lluming nodded and closed his fists,

"I'll truly crush him next time we meet,"

"Ah, don't get too pumped up now, you need to rest,

Fighting with such a strained body, wouldn't be best,"

"What are we supposed to do now, shouldn't we attack now that they're weakened?"

"You may have forgotten, our numbers too, have lessened,

We need to wait for a few months to keep the numbers steady again,

We need to have patience, and we'll attack, till then."
