Chapter 176: AN ATTEMPT

155 could barely sleep, as she feels the warm hands touching her skin.

While Lucifer was asleep, but the females surrounding him, couldn't have their desired rest.

She sighed, and was about to succumb to the hopelessness,

Until she heard slow, nearing steps.

She saw one of the slaves, holding a sharp object,

But she couldn't quite make it out,

because of the darkness.

She knew she was desperate,

But not foolish enough to make an attempt.

But, was it she, who is the fool?

For doing nothing here, as the demon beside her continued to drool?

She felt worried nonetheless,

She wasn't sure if the slave would be successful in her attempt.

But she made no further sound to warn the demon,

As the woman slowly, aimed for his throat.

She quickly plunged it, hoping the demon won't wake,

But before it hits Lucifer,

He meets her gaze.

Piercing yellow eyes, calm and collected,

Despite someone, openly, attempting his Death.

The woman, shook uncontrollably,

Her knees feeling shaky.

She wanted to scream, to beg,

But half of her just wanted a quick death.

But Lucifer knows exactly what she wants,

And he refused to give him that.

Pulling himself from the covers, the seal making him handsome was erased,

As his true form, slowly unleashed.

He rarely did this. He rarely showed the curse the heavens had given him.

But he felt no need to impress anyone in the room,

All he wanted,

Was to give this woman the most painful torture.

His figure was definitely the opposite of before,

The only thing that remained, was his eyes, yellow with a shining glow.

His horns grew thicker, and his body covered in fur,

His breath felt like fire, as his size grew twice too.

155 and the woman beside him quickly covered themselves under the bed,

As the demon didn't broke away from his failed assailant's gaze.

Now, he let himself grimace.

His calm exterior melting away.

His mouth split in four as he screamed ever so loud,

The sight becoming unbearable for the woman to react.

She falls helplessly, as she aims the sharp piece of knife at the demon,

Lucifer only laughs,

"You're killing me with that? Come on."

"Why did you do this to us?"

The woman, in a shaky voice asked.

She kept holding the weapon, as high as she can,

Determined to defend herself, although she doesn't have a plan.

"Because humans are supposed to be my slaves,

You deserve this, after giving me this disgrace."

"We did nothing to you! Nothing at all!"

"No, it is I, who serve God, but He simply loves you more.

I cannot stand it, and I do not understand,

Why must feeble creatures, be of importance,

you're just mere specs of dust."

The woman did not answer, she only cried,

Whatever thing she may say as counter,

Lucifer will always, refuse to understand.

He will always...always do what he wants.

155 wanted to speak,

But...she wanted to live.

She felt ashamed having no strength to change his mind,

After all, she was also a sinner,

What could she say,

That he won't find silly,

Hypocritical.

Funny.

Besides,

To Lucifer, he will always be right.

Every attempt to correct him will fail,

Even Satan, his trusted follower has difficulty convincing him as well.

So instead, 155 just closed her eyes,

As she heard the deafening cries.

One women, who seemed close to the person begged Lucifer to stop,

But instead, the demon decided she should be the one to shut up.

Already pissed, he pulled her jaw right out of his face,

As 155 briefly opened her eyes, only to see her gruesome state.

She hid further under the bed,

Not wanting any involvement.

And as Lucifer throw the lifeless body away,

She let the assailant be, but after he chopped her legs.

"I like seeing you suffer more,

As your rotten flesh slowly gets eaten by infection.

Or...perhaps, do you want to be eaten by my dogs,

Alright, for once in your life, I'll give you the choice."

The woman shook her head, as her body began to feel cold,

Feel numb, feel dizzy, as she loses more blood.

Lucifer changes back to his princey form,

As he calls by Haborym to pick the woman out of his room.

...

Haborym sensed that he was being summoned,

So he quickly woke from his table, and head out of his room.

When he smelled the stench of blood coming from his master's door,

He felt his heart break, at the possibilities it could offer.

He knocked, but his fists were shaking,

As he felt fear, manifesting.

The only person, (however unlikely) that showed care for him,

Couldn't be possibly dead, right?

He felt chills bite his skin.

Lucifer opens the door, his face tainted red.

And in a cold, merciless voice, he said:

"Ah, well then, pick these rotting bodies out. One is dead,

And the other...hm, missing legs."

Haborym quickly entered the room,

Passing by Lucifer, and forgetting to bow in return,

Lucifer let it be, he's too tired to argue,

But he saw how much,

Haborym grew concern.

That was what worried Lucifer.

If this goes on, he may not even be reliable.

He needs to think of a plan to retrieve his unshakeable loyalty,

What more does he have to do?

And more importantly,

How did this happen specifically?

155 came out of her hiding,

Making Haborym sigh in comfort.

The two seemed to look at each other in a way,

Far more intimate that what he claimed to say.

Haborym summoned his huge vipers,

Carrying the women as they all began to slither.

Having completed his very late mission,

Haborym looked at his sad companion.

As always, there was a new collection,

Another bruise here and there, another split of flesh and skin,

Haborym looked at his master,

"Lord Lucifer, are you finished with her?"

The demon Prince not wanting Haborym to hate him,

Acknowledging his importance and value to the Seven Prince,

Decided it is better to approve of his wish,

Hoping it would restore the loyalty that once faltered in a whim.

"Go on."

He said with a sway of his hand.

The Duke, though looking calm,

Quickly turned to the red-dressed woman.

His face may look composed,

But his body language tells what he was thinking the most.

Lucifer saw how gentle Haborym holds the woman.

The same way Haborym holds the other fairies as a little child.

The youth and innocence, the little demon once have,

Now displayed in front of his eyes.

"Do you want to marry her?"

Lucifer asked, as Haborym froze.

"Master, I, have..."

But he thought hard,

Of why his Lord would give him a choice.

Was it a choice to begin with?

And why was Lucifer asking, what does it mean?

Confused and clueless, Haborym fell quiet,

As Lucifer sighed and spoke, just to break the silence.

"I will not kill you if you answer truthfully.

Did you, by any chance, grew fond of the lady?"

Haborym wasn't sure. It couldn't be love at that point.

He just cared about her, well, far better than most.

She just reminds him of something,

Perhaps freedom, the calming sound of rain.

She was simply, there, to make him anticipate every passing day,

Is that what love is? He is not sure to say.

More so, he cannot simply tell that he wanted to marry her,

It could be selfish, and she may not feel the same way either.

So instead of answering, he looked at her warmly,

"Well? What do you think? I honestly am not certain."

155 wasn't sure if she was to laugh,

Or cry, or feel any comfort,

Knowing Lucifer, this may just be disguise,

One wrong answer, and her life would be over.

So she did not gave a reply,

As Lucifer longed for an immediate answer.

Wanting confirmation about his hunch,

He quickly grabbed 155 by the hand.

"Do you want to marry her, or not?

If not, I'll have her marry someone else,

Is that what you want?"

Haborym felt even more confused.

Questioning if his master was serious.

But then again, he realized the woman had suffered enough,

And she deserved at least, a bit of comfort without a doubt.

Despite being certain he wasn't in any way showing affection to her,

He decided to aggree to marrying her.

After all, they do not need to love each other,

He simply wanted her to leave with Sellena,

To make finding such opportunities easier.

She had the spirit and the guts,

And knew she could make it out alive.

So he bowed down before Lucifer,

Accepting his offer.

The demon Prince pushed the woman unto the duke's side.

"Alright, here's your bride.

And now that I've given you, your beloved prize,

You better do anything I say, without complaints or you'll lose your to-be wife."

The threat should not normally affect him,

But somehow it worked.

He felt fear losing someone he just had,

But hoped that things won't go any worse.

He needed to hope.

Maybe if she did escape with Sellena,

And she successfully saved her soul,

She'll remember his company,

And one day return.

Haborym won't finally feel alone.

...

155 seemed surprised,

As they were informed of the ceremony to be held next night.

She doesn't know how to feel,

More so when her heart was pounding not of excitement,

But rather fear that something, doesn't sit right.
