Chapter 190: FREEZE!!!

Leviathan was sure that they'll soon tire out,

So became a little cocky on their little runabout.

He slowed down a little, looking at them from afar,

They seem to avoid scattering,

Something he wished they did have.

Killing them at once is a task for him,

He could be outsmarted, though his chances of losing is still thin.

But he decided to be careful since he knew the Chosen is in their side too.

Underestimating opponents, is not something he'd afford to do.

"My good dragons...follow their scent,

Once you're sure that there's no openings,

Do drown your victims.

Don't let even a pinch of light escape...

And you know, I am certain.

They'll rescue some humans on the hallway,

That will slow them down,

Aren't you happy? All the advantages,

are presented to us now."

The dragons obediently followed,

Making their way in fast and silent steps.

Leviathan smiles as he pulls something from his pocket,

It beheld small packs of marbles.

"I'm sure that the Chosen is still vulnerable,

And with these marbles...

I'll freeze the atmosphere,

Till he suffocates and crumbles.

Good...luck trying to escape me.

You'll never be as humble."

He grins and chuckles,

Excitement filling his mind,

And as he drop the little marbles,

How fast it spread, the cold and ice.

He knew he may not be as strong as Asmodeus,

But he is quite resourceful.

He'll make sure that next time,

His name be known as a sign of misfortune.

For now he could only hope,

This spree becomes successful.

...

Ken ran and ran, but the opening seemed too far.

And with the angels busy carrying some humans,

He needed to think of a plan.

He apologized under his breath,

For the aftermaths of the path he'd take,

But the longer they do stay,

The closer they'd be,

To the doorstep of Death.

Even though they're here to practice stealth,

Ken noticed the change in the air.

The atmosphere felt thick, and he couldn't breathe,

This could slow him down gradually, if they stay like this.

"I'm going to break the walls,"

Ken said as he aimed to the sides,

One angel quickly voiced his hesitance,

"But if you do, the other demons would hear us."

"The humans are freezing, aren't they?

They'll die, and our efforts of rescue would have turned to waste."

Ken's words made all of them silent.

However, Haborym noticed that the walls are too thick.

"We have to destroy it in a few hits,

The noise would have given our location right away,

The demons will ambush us on the other side,

So make sure...we'll do it only in a couple times."

The angels agreed as they rose their hands,

Blinding light coming from their palms.

Ken rose his, as well,

But noticed that something, isn't going as said.

The moment they broke the wall,

It revealed a rotten jail.

But search as Ken may,

No one was there.

And so, they kept moving, and looking for a way out,

But because of the heavy stench, it was all Ken could think of.

The darkness did not help either,

It consumes too much time to be careful.

And so the angels glowed in order to guide him,

As the former duke made sure no one was behind them.

But as soon as Ken thought they got away,

He felt something slither, something move on his way.

He crumpled his fists as he quickly turns around,

The angels seemed to knew the issue as well.

They opened their wings to feel their surroundings more,

But found no one near them, even with the light they emit continue to glow.

How odd. Ken swore he felt something move.

Haborym released some of his snakes,

But they always find nothing there.

"We need to hurry," the former duke reminds,

As the team continued on, despite the freezing temp and limited time.

Their careful steps were halted however,

When some of the rescues were scratched in the elbow.

A laugh of a man soon followed,

As a female voice showed irritation.

"You blew our cover!"

And with that, Haborym was now aware of the danger.

Soon, the woman who had been wounded quickly shrieked in pain,

As her small wound, wide opened.

Ice came out of her small body,

As the other humans quickly panicked.

Some angels carried the humans,

Some stayed behind.

Ken felt confused, because although there was voice,

There was no one there, though he could feel their movements, he supposed.

Haborym sighed and revealed a chilling ability,

Leviathan's dragons, can shift their bodies.

They can grow small, grow big, grow into humanly forms if they please,

With them hydrated, you can easily count their limits.

Their scales in cold temperature, could also make them blend in,

Making them harder to fight and see.

Their claws can pierce skin easily,

One small opening, can be deadly.

Ken asks for weaknesses, but Haborym could only shake his head,

"So long as the dragons aren't hungry, they're formidable, and we're prey,

So all we should do for now, is dodge their claws, or end up as shattered ice, melting away."

Ken couldn't believe his ears, so they're the Demon Lord's most valuable skill.

He gulped and closed his eyes,

Feeling their movement,

Their next attack.

Despite him trying to peer into the near future,

His mind is distracted, due to the cold temperature.

And when the male dragon was about to scratch him,

Haborym quickly pulled Ken, and quickly reminded him.

"Ken! If you do not have what it takes,

Run away now and escape.

This is real, did you not see what they did?

In this mission, you cannot afford a mistake.

The fate of the world rests on our shoulders,

If you die, so would the world's hope.

You need to focus.

One scratch, and-"

He was not able to finish however,

As the female dragon quickly froze an angel behind them.

She laughed as her brother followed,

The freezing temperature made their reaction time rather slower.

"I haven't tasted an angel in a while!"

The male dragon commented as he gobbled up his prize.

Their humanoid form was swifter and much agile,

Even Haborym could not spot them in time.

He curses under his breath,

As he tried to follow the movement with his eyes.

But with the cold temperature creating a fog,

They have very few time to realize.

Ken got an idea however,

As he decided to absorb the freezing temperature,

He told the angels left to secure the room,

Making sure the creatures were still there,

As he aimed his hand on the floor.

Haborym looked at Ken who was fighting back his pain,

His jaws were tight shut, as he absorbs the freezing air.

The dragons were shocked that Ken could tolerate such task,

And soon, their scales weakened its camouflage.

There, revealed before their sight,

Are two humanoid creatures with two pairs of eyes.

They have light blue tinted skin,

And hair long and flowing, with water trapped within.

Their bodies, barely covered, were flexible,

And thus, were able to dodge, the aims and all the trouble.

The female dragon did not like the new atmosphere,

As Ken was absorbing all the water.

So she opened her mouth wide,

And made the air much colder.

Ken's body then could not take it,

As he looked at the culprit.

She was smiling, and even with her bare body aimed to bring him distraction,

Ken ran towards her, wanting to give a blow.

But the freezing air slowed him down,

And soon, he was hunged upside down.

The dragon lady taunting his weak strategy,

As as she was about to scratch his cheek,

Ken reminded himself that to die, he can't afford already.

He bit the woman's lips and it gave her a shock,

That the hold she had on him, simply loosed and he was given a chance to attack,

He pulls his sword, strapped to his back,

And injured the dragon, who was not yet ready to react.

Her brother quickly opened his own mouth and froze the air further,

And Ken was surprised, to see her wounds heal faster.

She laughs and mocks him, and as long as the air is thick,

The two would seem invincible, unless he figures out a trick.

Just then, he saw that they truly had gills,

And if those were blocked and they couldn't breathe,

They'd have a chance of keeping them out of their tails,

Or even enough distraction to get away.

The two dragons were working together effortlessly,

Making it hard to kill one and move to the next,

The hole the team have made earlier as well,

Was now shut frozen, thanks to the dragons' breath.

"I can't see anything," one angel complained,

As another one of them, got easily enraged.

He shot an unthought blow, which did not work,

Instead, the room became more foggy, with the dust and smoke.

Ken knew that the angels were weakening,

And thus encouraged them to keep glowing,

The heat may not rival that of a demonic dragon's snow,

But atleast, it could thaw the ice, that's covering their sight.

Ken coughed as he dodges the dragon's attempts,

Only saved due to his future peering talent.

And with his body's endurance weakening,

He quickly made his way to Haborym.

"Help me trap the dragons,"

Haborym nodded as the angels followed.

The dragon lady felt curious as to what the little pests were about to do,

But she decided not to act too careless,

or their master would punish them two.

Her brother however, have something different in mind,

He decided to mock the Seer, as he had doubts he'd make it out alive.

"The angels perhaps...could have escaped if not for you, Ken,

And as sad as it sounded, you are a burden."

"You may have helped, but you had also hindered,

Just give up now, your effort doesn't really matter.

A thousands of angels, we have already devoured,

As long as Master is near, victory is ours."

Ken refused to give in,

Even if their chances are thin.

The angels, despite their trouble seeing,

Were told to glow vibrantly, no matter the risks of failing.

The heat they emitted could kill a normal human,

But Ken told them to give what they can.

Ken released the frozen air he had absorbed before,

And covered his body in all those frost.

He hoped that could save him, from the fire the angels will produce,

He hoped he could survive, although he isn't sure.

And with the angels glowing,

Ken swore he could still see his surroundings,

Even with his eyes closed shut,

He could still see them.

The dragons were shocked and quickly made a signal back to Leviathan,

Urging their master to drop more frozen marbles, the way they want.

But when Leviathan felt that the dragons were too slow,

He decided to run towards the trouble,

Why was he doing such? Even he, doesn't know.

The dragons soon had their scales burnt,

Making their skin appear much darker,

And even with their sinister smiles still plastered,

They were in pain, hoping that they could see their master.

And when Ken shot the sister down,

As she felt too weak to even move around,

The brother quickly cried in pain,

Making Ken realized, they were somehow the same.

The worry on the dragon's face was evident,

He love his sister dearly, and to have her killed will be torment,

Ken felt confused if what he's doing is truly right,

Are they really to be saved? Or was killing them the only mercy could truly give?

The dragon screamed and charged at Ken sloppily,

Desperate to save his own sibling,

And while Haborym was about to slice its head,

A heavy atmosphere entered their place.

Leviathan arrived,

And he had a rather,

Sour face.
