Chapter 224: LEVIATHAN AND LUCIFER

"And I do not pity you either!

You, you...angels, were the ones responsible of killing my sister!"

A roaring voice was heard behind,

And Dawn would have already died,

If not for the swift counter of Jegudiel.

Who had managed to pull, the sea creature's tail.

"Enough. You and I both know I could kill you if I want to.

But my heart does not want to simply kill anyone.

I...am giving you a chance your sister, and Leviathan did not take.

I will give you one final chance, to either die, or change!"

The words were enough to make the monster cry,

Wondering, if the angel would not dare lie.

But seeing the angel's hands slowly loose it's grip,

The sea monster knew, it's a promise he'd keep.

"I...Jegudiel, is giving you a chance to repent,

Something...my brother, and your brothers, did not appreciate.

I...never wanted this.

I never wanted to stain my hands with the blood of others.

Please...live on, don't be settled just being a 'monster.'"

"I...I'm still mad. After all, you killed a lot of us."

"And you did the same with ours.

But, let's end it all here. Let your brothers and sisters live peacefully.

Never mingle with the creatures we're trying to save,

And I promise, your kind will grow tremendously.

Think...

very wisely."

Dawn sighed and readied his spear,

But Jegudiel sharply looked at his hands.

"Dawn, do not make me a liar and lose face,

Learn to forgive, not always eager to take."

Dawn reverted back his composure,

Still puzzled of what he deemed an illogical response.

The monster wasn't even sorry, at least in his eyes.

And yet, Jegudiel was still acting kind.

Dawn, upon receiving his emotions knew that point,

Despite being foreign to it, knew he was feeling angered.

Angered that the monster was given something he does not deserve,

Until Jegudiel, again spoke.

"Most people, do not feel sorry for their mistakes.

But if we open up our hearts a little, fix than break,

Then, one day...they'll see the world like we do.

Hatred, will never breed something good."

Dawn's eyes widened in response,

And for the meantime, obediently stopped.

His chest no longer wanted to kill the beast in front of him,

But now eager to try and understand him.

The beast on the other hand, felt quiet.

He looked slowly at Dawn, who no longer showed intent.

He thought back about what Jegudiel had said,

And looking back at what Lucifer had made them go through,

He realized it was not worth to go back to hell.

He bowed with the newfound humility,

And apologized to the celestial beings.

"I hope God would forgive me.

Truly, I am not worthy.

I...I will call my brothers back,

No longer would we, participate in this war."

The answer satisfied Jegudiel very much,

So he smiled ever brightly, while Dawn was much touched.

"See, Dawn? Forgiveness...could mean, a lot."

But remembering Barachiel, the two were reminded of the gruesome plot.

...

Lucifer was just happily bragging all his achievements to the ever-bored Selaphiel,

When all of a sudden, the Demon of Pride felt very unwell.

The sudden silence gave Selaphiel some worry.

And quickly asked about it,

And with a snap of his fingers, the yellow-eyed Demon, snapped back to reality.

"What must have been the matter?"

Lucifer quickly stood up, and summoned the sea monsters.

"I had a bad feeling that Leviathan is...not good,

I could no longer detect his presence, and I fear the worse."

The concern and shaking voice of his felt new to the angel,

And while it was a demon he was concerned about, it was something that he still, somewhat cared.

Selaphiel waited until the room shook and a sea monster appeared.

Who delivered the sad news that Leviathan no longer lives.

The revelation deeply pierced Lucifer's heart.

And for a moment, he regretted giving him such rank.

He knew Leviathan wanted to prove himself worthy to be his second-in-comand,

But if he was placed much lower, he wouldn't have fought alone and tried so hard.

Such thoughts drove Lucifer to be very mad,

And in his trembling hands, dropped shards of glass.

He looked at Selaphiel with hatred,

"Now, which of your...brothers?"

"I...I have no idea, we've been talking here the whole time,"

"You...you'll kill that brother of yours or I'll kill you both.

This time...I no longer...yearn for wine."

He quickly stormed off the room and left Selaphiel speechless.

What now? Now that Lucifer's decision cannot be unset.

Selaphiel gritted his teeth and followed him too,

Pretending still, as much as he could.

...

Lucifer's eyes were covered in a different kind of gloom.

It had never crossed his mind, to lose Leviathan so soon.

After all, he promised a lot of things to the demon who first followed him.

Who believed he could dethrone God,

Who believed he was special and different.

He remembered the first time Leviathan had clung to him.

They were just young angels, battling each other for their future titles.

And while he, had been easily recognized as one of the strongest,

Leviathan, was labelled one of the weakest.

He always notice how Leviathan would run away every fight he lose,

Crying at a corner, wondering when victory would be close.

And seeing him repeating the same thing over and over,

Lucifer felt some kind of pity, and for sure, have wanted to give him power.

Yet despite his own drive, to be a future, chief angel.

Leviathan just doesn't possess the same intellegence.

His attacks were too readable, too predictable,

That it didn't take a genius, to see past his drabbles.

Lucifer finally had enough, and decided to approach him.

He wasn't the kindest angel there is, and Lucifer's first training with him felt hopeless.

He was bratty, spoiled, and too confident,

Qualities that make his failures, bound to happen.

After an exhausting training,

Young Lucifer had called everything else useless.

Leviathan do not take his advice,

And every effort he took training him had been wasted.

He simply had enough.

And in great anger, complained to God.

"Why had you made such a useless angel?

He is weak, terribly weak.

And doesn't listen to whatever I speak."

But that was when he heard Leviathan's voice,

A bit teary, hearing what he had just spoke.

Lucifer was too stunned to continue,

But the revelation was enough for Leviathan to change his virtues.

He listened to whatever he says,

And soon, their trainings, bore more fruit in the passing days.

And while they're not the closest of friends,

Leviathan had grown fond of Lucifer, and gave his outmost respect.

It was when he realized his summoning abilities were his biggest specialty,

And since then, he vowed to follow Lucifer obediently.

Seeing him as a way for him to also achieve greatness,

As he was already popular, ever powerful, nonetheless.

He looked up to him so much,

That he failed to see how far apart they are.

He did not hesitate to join Lucifer's dangerous plans,

He did not hesitate to lay out his life.

To kill his own brothers,

To capture humans and plague the earth.

He had no hesitation with it all,

All for the sake of following Lucifer.

"Just tell me what to do, Lord Lucifer.

Don't give this mission to anyone else, I'm way better!"

"I can handle this plan of yours more than anyone!

I'll kill those who'll get in our way, before the rise of sun!"

"I can handle those weaklings master,

I can kill them all with this power.

They wouldn't stand a chance, ever."

But that confident phrases of his,

Would be heard no more.

...

"He was not just a pawn..."

Lucifer weakly spoke.

He stopped his steps, as tears fell down his cheeks,

Remembering Leviathan, who he deemed terribly weak.

"I shouldn't have lied to him about his powers,

He might have...might have saved himself from trouble.

He should have...should have been a little humble,

So he wouldn't have died...all for the sake of my endevours."

He looked at Selaphiel, tears streaming on his face,

"You better kill that angel,

In the worst possible way there is.

And if you fail to accomplish that task,

I'll do those procedures to you,

And I'll make sure you'll beg a thousand times,

And yet, I won't stop."

The threat made Selaphiel's eyes widened.

Despite being older, Lucifer was not threatened.

He was the one threatening him as if he was miles beneath him,

Which insulted and amazed Selaphiel the same.

How can a demon be so confident?

"I know your heart is distraught,

But fighting in such state, can never be good enough."

Selaphiel tried to stop him from joining the war,

But Lucifer had had enough.

"If I was there, he would have not died.

I underestimated the angel's preperations.

I cannot risk another comrade die.

I will join the war, Selaphiel.

No words of yours would make me change my pace.

They killed Leviathan,

And now, I'll end their race."

Lucifer threatened further,

As Selaphiel knew,

He wouldn't be able to stop him anyways.
