Chapter 232: HAND, TEETH, AND CLAWS

"What are you waiting for? Kindly use your barrier!"

Humility yelled, making Haborym scream louder,

"I CAN'T! I don't know how this works!

I only know how to be faster,

But I don't think speed would make much difference to this monster!"

Humility gritted his teeth and ran towards the beast,

Turning to butterflies whenever he thinks he'll be hit.

The monster opened its mouth wide to eat Humility up,

But Haborym didn't let that.

He quickly snatched Haborym away,

As both of them fell on the muddy pond.

The monster seemed to be pissed,

But knew that the two could be a risk.

It skipped eating Humility and Haborym,

And walked straight to the two ladies.

155 almost felt like fainting,

Her bombs could only go so far with the way its standing.

...

Beelzebub watches as the former duke struggled to open his barrier.

The demon sighed, for it was easy to do so.

He suddenly missed using the angelic abilities,

But at that moment it wasn't about him,

But those two ladies.

He pondered hard if he was really supposed to do it.

By helping them, he had officially betrayed Lucifer.

And still, does it really matter?

A few years from now, they'd probably be forced to kill him for his worsening hunger.

Even right now, his stomach wouldn't shut,

Mouth salivating from everything he sees.

He quickly bit his arm, to clench the thirst he has,

But seeing the monstrous size of the monster,

An idea came to mind.

His back suddenly oppened,

Three monsters peeking.

All growling in hunger,

As if whispering to pursue it.

Beelzebub's eyes scanned the area,

The monster seemed to stop ever since it heard his growls.

It tightened its hold on Sabrina,

While 155 wonders if she could just bite the monster.

"Quickly! They're going to get killed!"

Humility says in a panic.

Haborym was close to punching himself,

But seeing that the ladies were too close to the monster's mouth,

He ran, desperate.

His steps were stopped however,

Seeing another fast-moving creature.

Beelzebub climbed the beast's body as if it was just some tree,

Digging his claws on it's hard flesh, making it wince.

"Lord-I mean...Beelzebub?" Haborym could not believe his eyes,

As the beast continued to dodge the monster's attacks.

The huge beast was even forced to drop Sabrina,

Whom was quickly caught by Humility's whipclaw.

It tried to kill Beelzebub but failed,

As if Beelzebub could read its mind in some way.

Haborym concluded that the Seventh Lord's instincts could not be beaten,

It knows how monsters are, than anyone else.

Soon, the monster threw 155 as well,

Not even thinking of eating that point.

It felt hurt as Beelzebub's claw kept drawing on its skin,

So its only goal, was to finish him.

Haborym quickly caught 155 with ease,

Who gasped for air,

Rejoicing she could finally breathe.

Haborym checked if the chemicals were squeezed,

But was happy to find out,

That the containers weren't weak.

"No, no, no, the bag's dangling, so it wasn't squeezed,"

155 clarrified, when Haborym's inspection ends.

He simply nodded, and looked at Beelzebub, himself.

Beelzebub was still dodging the brawny moves,

But by the looks of it, not much has to be proved.

It showed how experienced the Seventh really was,

Looking at it's precise pounces, and direct attacks.

"Why is he helping us?" 155 asked.

But truth be told, nobody knows why.

Beelzebub shrieked loudly, causing the monster to panic.

It wasn't an ordinary cry, it was a horrible warning.

It's a language only they understood by the looks of it,

But even with Beelzebub's size, he was dominating.

The beast tried to swat the Seventh again and again,

But like a fast-moving fly, he wasn't harmed in any way.

Soon, the monster grew impatient,

And dipped its body in water, hoping to kill him.

But Beelzebub was already close to its head,

And the water only helped him feel motivated.

Before the monster could even soak itself wet,

Beelzebub had already scooped its eyes off its sockets.

The four could not figure how to react,

Seeing the gruesome way of attack.

Beelzebub even seemed to have forgotten about them,

The moment he swiftly chowed down on its flesh.

He ate like he've never eaten for days,

Nose seemingly entrance by the bloody scent.

He barely heard the rushing steps towards him,

Ears occupied by the sound of him chewing.

He felt shocked when he felt a cold touch on his shoulder.

"Lo-...Beelzebub. Why...did you...did you saved us?"

Haborym couldn't help but ask.

He felt a bit suspicious as well,

Since Beelzebub was known to act only for himself.

And what if he was only hungry and it just so happens they're on the way?

But...would it make sense that the food was not brought to him?

"What made you to this?"

Haborym asked again.

But Beelzebub didn't even looked at him,

But his shivering hands which he tried to hide.

"You don't know how to use the barrier,

You...were discussing about it earlier,"

Haborym's cheeks turned flush red from embarrassment,

He was a duke of many knowledge, but he didn't expect to recieve such a blessing from an angel.

He simply nodded his head as Humility watch with interest.

It was rare for him to see Beelzebub talk. Let alone hear from him in this close range.

"It's not my forte, yes...

After all, I had just recently recieved it,"

Beelzebub grins as his back closed,

Stomach a bit steady than before.

He tries to stand up, as Haborym insists to assist,

Yet even the slightest touch, could send Beelzebub in frenzy.

As response, Beelzebub steps back,

Looking him fiercely in the eye.

"You...are not supposed to touch me,

You're supposed to have a running start,

If ever I go hungry."

Beelzebub warned and Haborym could only nod.

It felt scary still, to hear Beelzebub say such words.

"And you, reaper. Don't use your power any more,

Your scent is getting weaker.

I'm afraid if you keep doing so,

You'll fade in less than an hour.

You need to rest."

Humility felt shocked at the sudden mention,

But he only nodded in response, not questioning how he knows it either.

"You, have to learn how to use it.

I've been an angel before,

And I can still remember the process.

You don't simply put your hands on the air,

Hoping a barrier would appear.

It's not as easy as your illusionary tricks.

It's more than what your mind thinks.

First, you have to have faith.

It's the one thing that activates an angel's ability.

Not that I still recognize what it feels,

But you have to have faith, not in yourself but on your Creator.

It...sounds silly coming from a demon,

But if you love your friends,

You have to follow."

Haborym obediently nodded,

And tried again.

And again.

And again.

He felt quite ridiculous seeing no improvement,

Even 155 could barely hold her breath.

She tried her best to cheer him up,

But Haborym's nervousness was evident a lot.

"Calm down." Beelzebub reminds.

Haborym closes his eyes,

Hoping, then thinking,

He could do it with God's hands.

He soon opened his eyes to see a bright light-

Forming into a circular barrier, protecting him from all sides.

His eyes quickly lit up in happiness,

And was about to smile until this happens-

The barrier shattered with Beelzebub's fists,

Swiftly making the former duke, jump in fear.

"Your illusion-base abilities are still recharging,

I know it is because you've barely used it.

You were desperate while thinking of fighting that monster,

But it seemed that you don't even know the true capabilities of your borrowed powers.

If you don't know how to use what's available,

You won't stand a chance with the new batch of monsters.

I could smell them, close and getting closer.

If you want to take a hit, you have to fortify your barrier.

So try again.

This time, make it thicker."

...

Ken was quickly running out of options,

Simply dodging and hoping won't defeat the monster at all.

Even using Barbatos's own arrows had just made the worms multiply.

At this point, he was just helping the enemy more than himself.

"How do they die?!"

He couldn't help but yell out in frustration,

Is this truly the end? His very last mission?

But he have traded so much, sacrificed so many,

It shouldn't be like this.

There must be a weakness hiding.

"Ah, you're already sweating pretty hard,

Why don't you take a break?"

Barbatos taunted as he got ready on shooting him on the head.

Ken dodged again as expected,

Seeing where it would shoot with his eye's help.

And yet, for how long would it take?

How could he defeat something,

That shouldn't be hit?

(A worm...

A worm...

A worm...

With this number, it won't matter even if I try to burn them all.

I'm too small and too slow to burn even one whole,

This...this just make things worse!

Salt...salt...where could I get one?)

Suddenly, an idea came to mind.

He looks at Barbatos, almost in mockery,

Making the duke ponder, what got to him lately.

He quickly yelled at the worms to finish him off,

"With his staggering steps, his expression may all be just bluff."

But Ken's consistent smile says otherwise.
