Chapter 15

Two years ago from today, Half-Animals had gained their freedom. The two species had coexisted with each other, careful not to destroy the bond they have made once more.

Over the years of living alongside one another, peace had ruled all over the city; no more accidents had happened, and the number of wrongdoing people had gone down significantly.

During the time, Half-Animals and Humans lived with each other; some even lived with each other, some just as friends and others as lovers.

Animals had even helped out will all of the construction work on future buildings; since they had their wings, it had made it easier for the workers.

One particular wolf had flown to the city multiple times in the past, some of the times, he would go out and play with the children, and the other times he would watch over the city. He had to make sure that the Humans kept up on their promise, he did trust them, but he had still been wary over the situation.

The 500-Acre of land that had once been a battlefield had turned into a place of joy, a place where children could play and run around with no fear that a Half-Animal would take them away from their families.

Every day the orange would also wait for his closest friend's arrival to visit him once more; he wasn't losing hope as he knew it wouldn't just take a couple of days to start a new life of his own and get comfortable.

Okami flew down to the wood's entrance and started to walk around the land that had once separated the two kinds. Dirt paths had been made across the entire land as some paths extended into the woods; they were made for any humans who had wanted to visit his village.

It had been two years since he had seen Mark; he had wondered if the male had looked any different over these past years. Okami knew how much humans changed over the time they grew; it was much different from animals, who barely changed their appearance over the years of their growth.

The orange wolf looked in the direction of the city's entrance to see that someone was walking down the path; now, Humans regularly walked down this path as they always wanted to visit the village.

Okami had known this person, though; it had also looked like he had a girl and a child with him. Mark had kept his promise and visited him; the wolf was happy. The orange wolf then started to make his way to the couple and meet them up in the middle of the land.

Okami couldn't hold in his excitement anymore as he jumped onto Mark, giving him a big hug in the process.

"I see that you are still the bubbly Okami from two years ago; it's been too long since we have seen each other; what have you been up to? How has the village been?" Mark had spoken up to the wolf as they both had separated from the hug; the wolf had a big smile on his face.

Everything had been doing so good, especially ever since he had proved that his kind was superior to the Humans.

"Everything is going well; nothing but peace has erupted since the day since my kind was set free. All of this seems so unreal to me, I was born in a world of chaos, and now my kind is free, and it's so peaceful. All of this is just something I need to get used to. By the way, if you don't mind me asking, who are these guys."

The orange wolf had responded to the male and his family next to him; the wolf had motioned to the girl and the child when he had asked his question.

Mark looked over at his family before smiling and then turning his head to face the wolf once more.

"This is my wife and my daughter. Honey, this is Okami; he was the one that I had helped in the war to set his kind free from the wrongdoings that out kind had done to them." Mark had explained to the wolf as he motioned to his wife and child.

The orange wolf had shed some tears as he looked over at the child; she had looked at him with curiosity. The orange wolf bent down to her level before she ran up, giving him a big hug, knocking him down in the process. Okami was now laughing as he had played along with the little girl; he had enjoyed her company.

Mar was smiling in the background; he had thought it was cute; he had never seen Okami like this in a while; he had thought the orange wolf would be a great Father.

Mark then remembers the question he had asked the orange wolf those years ago; he had wondered if the wolf had found love for himself yet.

"Hey, Okami, did you ever find yourself a mate. I remember asking you a similar question two years ago, and you had said that you didn't believe you could fall in love. Has any of that changed at all?"

The orange wolf looked up at the male, shocked once more. He shook his head to the side as his ears fell; the little girl had cuddled into his stomach, trying to comfort him.

"No, I have not found my mate yet; Maybe I don't deserve to fall in love. Do you remember that nightmare I had two years ago before the war? A voice told me I needed to make a sacrifice to win the war. Maybe love was the thing that I had sacrificed for my freedom; it makes sense because I have not found my mate yet."

Mark had immediately shaken his head; that was not the sacrifice; he had already given his sacrifice. He had given it years before that had even met; his parent's lives were sacrificed so that he may live a good life, free from all of the torture.

The family and the wolf had talked for what had seemed like hours; they had to leave shortly after to get their child home and in bed. Mark had encouraged the wolf to visit them in the city next time so that he could see the new set up of his house, since the last time that Okami had seen the house, it was a mess.

Okami had a good life; he couldn't have asked for a better one. His life had its up and downs, but he had gotten through it thanks to the help of his friend's support.

Half-Animals and Humans had lived in peace once more, and it would stay that way for as long as his kind lived.

Or so he had thought…
