The Werewolf of Bedburg

Howling was heard in the distance, but the girl was not concerned, for she was enjoying herself too much.

She had always been told: to never go out during the night, and especially: never during a full moon.

But as stated before: Melusina never did what she was told(she was rebellious like that).

But this was the night… where such warnings should have been heeded...

Melusina turned to her side to see a large wolf snarling at her.

She ran with all her might, the barking wolf right behind her.

She was mad at herself for not having listened.

She did not pay any attention to the many cuts she received from the branches, but to her horror and surprise… she stumbled…

The wolf was about to devour her, till a man rammed into its side.

Melusina saw that it was her brother, come to her rescue!

The hope quickly turned to despair, as the wolf managed to mortally wound her beloved brother, but he had made sure to take the wolf down with him.

Melusina buried her brother, and walked home in shame.

But the brother's story was not yet over; for the wolf he had fought was cursed: whoever was bit by it: would turn into a wolf themselves.

And that is how the brother became:

The Werewolf of Bedburg.

Awooo!

Njord had just arrived within Bedburg.

Father Rhine had decided to pay the local inn a visit, for he always loved a cup of cold beer after a long journey.

Father Rhine took a seat, Boy sat down next to him.

" Bar-keep, one please. "

The beer was poured.

She skimmed the top, and then handed it over to Njord.

" Ah, that hit the spot. "

Boy whimpered.

Njord looked around, and saw a young girl sitting all by herself.

Now that Njord thought about it: the inn was practically empty.

" Bar-keep, how come I am the only one who gets to enjoy your liquid gold? "

She smiled, then looked serious.

" The folk are too scared. The man-wolf has been up and about. "

Njord took a sip of his drink before he said:

" That is no excuse. Your beer is worth the risk. "

She blushed this time.

" What about her? " asked Njord, nodding backwards.

" For some odd reason… She is never hounded by the beast. She merely comes here to escape her sorrows. "

" Hmm. "

Njord finished his drink.

He paid for two more, and then made his way towards the lady.

" May I? "

Melusina lifted her head to look upon the handsome countenance of Njord(for Christopher Waltz do be handsome.)

Instead of an answer: Melusina let her forehead go back to French kissing the table.

" I will take that as a: sure. "

Njord sat down, sliding Melusina a beer, he then enjoyed his own.

It was the presence of the beer which reawoke Melusina.

She shot up, and partook of the poetry.

" So, " said Njord; " what makes you so special? "

Melusina just looked at him.

" Whatever do you mean? "

" Why would this 'werewolf' not attack you? "

" He is my brother… "

(Well, that was anticlimactic.)

Njord leaned forward, now really interested.

" Do go on. "

Boy had picked up the scent, they were close.

Njord had advised Melusina to stay back, whilst he and Boy dealt with the hound.

Boy raised her snout towards the sky, she then growled at the cave before them.

Njord could not see inside, but he could most certainly smell all the blood and rotting corpses.

" Ew… " said Njord, covering his nose: " I would prefer it if we could talk out here! "

All was silent, till all the hair on Boy's back shot upwards; for the werewolf was approaching.

" My, my… Look at you. "

He was enormous, and herculean-built.

Spots of dried blood were visible on his grey fur.

Bits of human flesh and bone were also visible from his sharp teeth.

The werewolf growled at Njord.

Boy was ready to attack.

" No. "

Boy halted.

" I will handle this myself. "

Njord picked up the Tarnhelmet, then placed it upon his head.

Both Boy and the werewolf looked on: as Njord was transforming into a werewolf himself.

The transformation was complete, and Njord-werewolf was now the one to growl at the enemy werewolf.

Boy stepped aside, as the battle commenced.

There is little else to say: then that: Njord-werewolf had clearly won.

He towered over the downed creature.

The finishing blow was about to be struck, till Melusina flung herself over her brother(clearly not having heeded Njord's advice. She was rebellious like that, after all.)

" No… "

Njord took off the helmet.

" A killing blow must be struck. He is no longer alive. His soul is trapped within the coffin before you. "

Melusina cried over the unfair situation.

She did not cry over what she had to do.

She cried over the simple fact: that her brother deserved none of this.

He had always been kind.

Always been good towards her.

He never found her fear of the dark silly, hence why she fell in love with the night.

Melusina looked within the human eyes of the werewolf.

" I… love… you… always… "

Melusina wept bitterly.

" I love you too… "

The killing blow was thereafter struck.
