Adam and his family were nearly to their destination, roughly another hour until they reach the capital.
"System, load a brief history of the world for me. I don't want to go in blind when we reach our destination. Keep it centered around this country." Adam said.
"Loading... The world that you currently reside in is known as Giga, meaning large. The country you live in is know as the Fidelas Kingdom. The capital city is named after the kingdom, Fidelas city and the King is Marcus Fidelas. There are two princes and four princesses. They are, in order from oldest to youngest, Marcus Fidelas II at age eighteen, Dean Fidelas at age sixteen, Margo Fidelas at fifteen, Clair Fidelas at twelve, Diana Fidelas at age seven, and Gwen Fidelas at age five." the system said.
Adam nodded and began to review the etiquette that he was supposed to display. The customs of this world were mostly similar to the Middle Ages back on earth. The buildings were a little more refined then that time period, but that could easily be explained with magic. The party they were to attend was called The Showing. It was were the Nobels of the kingdom were supposed to bing their five year old child to be presented to the king as well as for the children to get to know each other. The youngest princess was also there as it might be a good chance to set up and arranged marriage for her future.
It was as Adam was thinking about all of this, that the capital finally came into view. The only thing that could be seen from the outside were the walls and the castle. It was evident from the look of the walls that they were enhanced by magic. The walls were most likely sixty feet tall and, judging by the gate, twenty-five feet thick.
The castle, at its peak, was most likely ninety feet tall and was built on the highest rise in the cityscape. It had walls and battlements of its own that looked to be just as fortified as the outer most walls.
They made their way to the entrance for Nobels and it wasn't long before they had passed checks and were allowed to enter the city. The city views weren't that different from what he was use to seeing in his home town. It then took them an hour an and thirty minutes to reach the castle due to the traffic. The city was divided into the outer district, where commoners lived, inner district, where merchants and Nobels lived, and royal district, where the royal family lived.
They were greeted at the castle gates by a few guards and the castle staff. The staff carried their things and led them to the rooms they would be staying in for the duration of their time there.
"What do you think so far, son?" Gregory asked.
"Overall, I feel that the king must be a reasonable and modest man. All though the castle is large, it doesn't give off the feel that the king wastes the riches that he gains in taxes. My conclusion would that he is most likely a shrewd man and terrifying when it comes to calculation and warfare." Adam stated.
"You would be right. Though the king may not show it, he can definitely be compared to an earth dragon when it comes to his battle prowess." his father stated.
It was then that there was a knock on the door and a butler announced that it was time for us to make our way to the main hall. It was actually a short walk from the living quarters and they arrived just in time to see the family ahead of them moving into the dining hall. They approached and all knelt in a line in front of the king.
"Your Majesty, Marquis Gregory Saints and his family at your service. My child, Adam Saints will be presented today as he will be five in a little over a month." Gregory said.
"Gregory, it is a pleasure to see you after such a long time. So this is the newest addition to your family." the king said as he sized up Adam.
The king was pleased to see cute and seemingly mild mannered child. Adam did not seem like a scared pup in his presence which showed a maturity that surpassed all of his peers.
"It is a pleasure to meet you Adam. I hope that you do well at the event and give me a good show." The king said.
"I will do my best your Majesty." Adam said.
While they had been talking, Adam had tried to scan the king to get an idea of how strong he was, but was unable too. The difference in their stats was just too absurd and the magic that the king put off prevented the system from seeing anything. It seemed that he had been right to assume the king was more than he seemed.
