The silence in the room was hard to deal with. Adam hadn't felt that uncomfortable since his reincarnation into this world.
"You never cease to amaze do you?" the king said.
Adam had a wry smile on his face at this statement. It seemed this path would be a difficult one to follow and might put him at odds with the kingdom that he lived in.
"How do I go about following this path?" Adam asked
"Very little is known about it. The only thing we do know is that a pact must be made with the god of death, Thanos. The pact is supposed to dictate how your powers grow. The place to do this would be a place of death like a crypt or a grave yard. The larger the place, the easier it is to contact Thanos." said Sarah
"The place I should visit would have to be either the public grave yard or the underground crypt for criminals then." Adam said while deep in thought.
"The undead already exist in this world any way, so it isn't like controlling them or creating them is a bad thing. There is actually a labyrinth a little distance away from here that would be a good place to take control of some. However, I would like to ask you how you intend to use these powers before I allow you to learn too much on this path?" the king said.
"I have no interest in having my own kingdom, nor do I have any ill intent towards this one. At most, I would use my power to protect this kingdom and my family that lives here." Adam said
The king nodded his head and then fell into deep contemplation. It seemed that he had some thoughts on how he could use Adam to his advantage in the future.
"If you are willing, I will sign a contract with you stating that as long you agree to maintain a positive relationship with this country and do not harm those that do not deserve it, you will have unlimited access to the information that I can give you." the king said with a smile
"Deal. The only condition that I raise in return is that you won't abuse my loyalty and trust as well as provide protection to my family. If you agree to this, I will sign a spirit contract on the spot." Adam said with a smile
All in the room were shocked as this was a serious matter. A spirit contract placed a seal on the soul of those bound by it. If they broke the contract, it could cripple a person at best and at worst they could directly die.
The king wore a serious expression as this was no laughing matter. Adam was strong already and could eventually become strong enough to rival a kingdom all by himself. The ability to control the undead was no laughing matter as it provided the chance to have an endless army. The only real limitation was the caster themselves. There was already a class for necromancer in the world and it was quite rare, but having the path for it was a different story.
"I accept your conditions. I will also place in the contract that if anything happens to your family that the contract will be broken." the king said.
Adam nodded and accepting the terms. The contract wasn't that bad for him since it didn't pose any real restrictions on him. It was actually quite beneficial. Now the only thing he had to do was wait for the contract to be drafted and to decide where he wanted to attempt to communicate with Thanos.
"I think your best bet would be the criminal crypt." Gwen said
"Why do you think that?" Adam asked
"Well, do you want to raise those that were loved in life and hurt those that buried them?" Gwen asked
"I see your point. That confirms where I should try to begin then." Adam said after giving it some thought
"Let's hold this off till tomorrow. We should get the contract drafted first since there is no telling how long it could take you make a pact with Thanos." the king said.
After the conversation was over, we said our goodbyes to Sarah as she had to return to the academy. We then had lunch and went about our day like normal. Tomorrow would be the beginning of their true power growth.
