The God of Death

The following day, Adam made his way to the library to sign the contract with the king.

"Are you sure about this?" the king asked

Adam simply nodded and signed the contract with his blood and the king did the same. When the finished signing, the contract began to float then burn. A symbol formed in the air and flew into each of their chests meaning that the contract was complete.

"With that done, I have assigned a guide to lead you to the crypt. They will take you as far as entrance. The rest is up to you." the king said

Adam left the library and made his way to the receiving hall where his guide was waiting. The guide gave him a simple greeting and then began leading him to the crypt. It took them about an hour to reach their destination.

The crypt was in a relatively good shape on the outside as it was maintained by the kingdom. Adam said his goodbyes to the guide and began to make his way in. The crypt expanded fairly deep underground and the deeper one went, the more skeletons one would find.

Adam decided that he should make his way to the very depths of the crypt as that would be the place closest to death.

He found himself in front of a pit that was filled with skeletons. The walls in this area were basically made of bones.

Adam sat on the floor and began to meditate in an attempt to reach out to the void of death. He channeled his method during this as well since the magic in the area was also tainted with the energy that is created by death. The concentration of this type of magic was very high in this area. Adam could almost hear whispers while he was channeling his method.

All at once, Adam felt that he was being immersed in ice as the temperature around him began to drop. Adam opened his eyes to find that his surroundings had changed.

The sconces that burned in this area now glowed with a eerie blue-black flame and there was a door made of skulls.

When Adam stood up, the door slowly creaked open to revel only darkness on the other side. Adam stood in front of the door and looked back, only to see his body still sitting in a meditative pose. It was clear that his soul had left his body in order to cross the boundary and attempt to find death.

Adam braced himself and stepped through the door. When he passed through the door, a path lit up on the ground that led away into the darkness. Adam followed the path for what felt like weeks when he found another door.

This door was very different from the last one. It was a majestic color of white with intricate carvings covering the surface.

Adam pushed the door open and stepped through. He found himself in a room that was comfortably decorated. There was a desk to the right where a man dressed in beautiful black robes sat.

The man looked up from his desk and looked right at Adam. His face was very pale, but was only made more handsome for it. His hair was black with streaks of silver and gold and his eyes were entirely black.

"Hello young one." said Thanos

"Greetings Lord of Death." Adam said as he immediately knew who he was speaking to.

"What brings you to my domain?" Thanos asked

"I have come seeking the path of necron." Adam said as he knelt to the floor.

"What would you do with powers of this path if I gave them to you?" Thanos asked plainly

"I would use these powers to protect the kingdom and family that I love and punish those that are deserving." Adam said

"What of those you raise into undeath? Will they serve you until your dying day?" Thanos asked with a dark look on his face. It was clear that my answer would determine the future of my path.

"I will rise only those that are deserving of death or that request to be raised so that they may fulfill their final desires. Those deserving of punishment will labor for me until they have paid the their debts. Once their debts are paid, they will be allowed to rest. Those that I rise to my side on their own choice will be able to rest when they are ready or follow me into the afterlife." Adam declared straight away.

There was a long silence when all of the sudden, Thanos appeared directly before him.

"Making this decision will place a portion of the weight I bear on your shoulders. You will be responsible for the souls of those that you raise and what happens to them will be directly weighed on your own soul. Are you still willing?" Thanos asked

"If that is the price I must bear then so be it." Adam said

"Very well. I approve of your decision and gift you the skills necessary to up hold this task. Return and do great things." Thanos said as he place a book in my hands and touched me lightly on the forehead.

I immediately woke up in the crypt back in my body.
