My mind was racing with thoughts of Sophie and Riksa. Are they looking for me right now? How long have I been down here? I let out a sigh. I wanted to see them, hold them and talk to them. It took me several hours to get some sleep.
I awoke to the sound of screeching. I opened my eyes to flailing arms reaching through the gaps in the doorway. I still felt sleepy. The annoyance was enough to get me up. I slowly wandered over to the boulder blocking the door. I was rubbing my eyes the entire time. I stopped just out of reach of the sharp claws that were reaching for anything they could find.
I began to let out a yawn and punched the boulder in front of me. The crash, crunching bones and spilling life force could be heard. I finished up my yawn and observed the scene before me. I had no interest in the bloody mess pooling at my feet. I decided to start my day here. It was time to train my body while using the power of Anger once more.
'Today,'
Anger chimed in.
'You should practice activating your power before every fight and deactivating it after. If you get into a fight, you don't want to be caught with your pants down while trying to bring out your power.'
He was right. If someone like that witch ever shows up again, I would still be at a disadvantage. I need to be able to use my power when I need it.
While I was clearing out several more rooms, a patrol found me in a hall and let out a terrible screech. Several rooms worth of naga emerged from multiple doorways and began their offensive.
I took almost no time to clean up the mess of naga. I noticed that one room had produced more of them than the others. I looked through to find a large room of a different shape than what I've been used to in here. It was a large half-circle with seven other entrances along the curved wall. The long flat wall to my right hosted only a single large ominous opening.
Looking up, I could see what looked like a glass ceiling that allowed a view of the ocean and rocky seabed above. Not much could be seen past the immediate rock formations which were host to the bioluminescent lifeforms that clung to them. The dark waters beyond were too deep to allow sunlight through.
My gaze was lost in the empty waters above. I moved forward and found myself in the center of the room looking directly up. I squinted my eyes at something that looked like movement. A large yellow eye opened in the waters above. It was looking right at me. How long it had been there, I have no clue. It slowly moved toward the direction of the large opening. I didn't feel like dealing with something that large right now. I decided to leave that for another time.
Along the curved wall, there was one room that was relatively secure. I decided to make that room mine for the time being.
I cleared more naga from this dungeon over what felt like a week. It was harder to find any unexplored areas without looking at a map that I had began carving into the wall of my room. Another three days and I finally found what must have been the entrance. However, It had caved in. That meant that I had only one option left after clearing all other rooms...
The large opening that possibly held the massive eyeball I had seen and the creature it belonged to.
The time I spent here allowed me to feel more comfortable with my powers. My void glove was now a void sleeve. It would envelop my entire arm. I could use either arm but, not both without losing concentration.
My strength evolved to the point where I take less damage from my own attacks. I could punch through a brick wall before but it would destroy my hand in the process. Now, I can punch through walls three times as thick with only minor bruises that would heal in seconds.
Now, I can also activate either power with ease. I can easily swap back and forth between them without much of a delay. I felt more like a warrior with these powers than before. I was able to use Gleamour fairly efficiently in the past but, with my strength, I could have done a lot more.
To my dismay, I still have not been able to make contact with Fear the entire time. I tried using his powers every so often but, I got no results. I would have liked to practice the shadow powers as well. At this point, I would just be wasting time, waiting for something that may never happen.
I felt ready. It was time to face the large creature.
I entered the dark opening. The lighting that I was familiar with in the rest of this dungeon was almost nonexistent. The hallway quickly opened up to a massive cave. I was only able to see because of minimal light coming through five large windows on the dome-like ceiling. There was also a closed door on the far side.
My entry was not unnoticed. One of the windows got dark. The glass began to bow inward. I was preparing myself to run back when the window broke. Instead, sharp teeth emerged, wet and lightly dripping with water. Those were not windows. They were surface water that refused to fall. Like upside-down ponds.
The mouth was still emerging. A familiar sight had been exposed. The large yellow eye that I had seen before was revealed above the gigantic bladed smile. It spotted me while continuing its descent.
I now knew what the creature was. It was an eel, large enough to swallow an entire 18wheeler.
And I was to be its next snack.
