V2Ch137 New Disapproval

We were both lying down on our backs. I turned my head to the side and looked "up" at him. He was doing the same.

"After all that punishment I gave to you..."

He paused his sentence to take a breath.

"This is by far, the least injured state that I will be leaving the competition in..."

I gave him a casual smile.

"I'm not really here to hurt people. I just have a quick question for the Ent."

Itagi sat up.

"I think we all do. Some of us feel it's worth putting our lives on the line to get the answers we seek. Is your question worth it?"

I suddenly felt a bit selfish. An immortal is in a competition where people die. I think I really am cheating. Thinking about my previous fights, I did well. My opponents all left the ring while standing. I had no intention of killing anyone. If I am going to win, it should be without any casualties.

"I suppose my question is more of a selfish one. But, it could help me for the rest of my days. If I get the answer I am seeking today, I may never need to see the Ent again."

Itagi looked back at me.

"I think most of the questions are selfish. Some of the people that I have met told me theirs. When will I find true love? Where is my mother? Who is my son? How can I become immortal? And..."

"Time to go."

An official interrupted. Itagi seemed unphased at the interruption but stood all the same.

"Who killed my parents?"

The seemingly angry yet sad look on his face was all the evidence I needed to guess that his parents were killed.

"You plan to get revenge?"

His change in expression to surprise was almost comical.

"You kinda made it obvious. People say this all the time where I'm from. Life is too short. Do you think your parents would want you to get revenge? Spend your life in sorrow and pain while agonizing over some heartless murderer?"

Once again, the emotions he shows change almost instantaneously. He slammed his fist down next to my head.

"AND LET HIM GO FREE? JUST FORGET ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO RAISED ME AND MOVE ON AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED?"

"Never said that. Keep them in your heart and remember them when they were happy. When they were smiling. I can't see my parents anymore but, that's what I do. As for the murderer. If you refuse to let him go, don't pursue this person with simple revenge on the mind. Try to get justice. Don't chase after him for the dead. Try to find him with the intent of preventing a similar tragedy from happening to someone else. Keep a cool head and a calm mind. Emotions and desires can cloud your judgment."

He still looked frustrated but he wasn't enraged anymore.

"I don't know if any of that hit home or if you will try any of my suggestions but, just try to think about it. Yeah? Also, if you don't know who did it, who says it was a he?"

Once again, a quick change in his facial features revealed worry. He stepped back. A quick pivot on his foot gave him an easterly direction and he flew off without a word.

"Goodbye, I guess..."

I sat up and took a deep breath. The official was waiting for me to come with them back to the A-group area. I sat there in defiance so I could watch the fight in the ring next to mine.

Grampus and The Black Hunt were still going at it. I suddenly remembered the voice of the announcer and let his words in once more.

"This fight just keeps going! No matter how bloody Grampus gets, he just won't stay down!"

I stood to get a better view. Grampus was having a hard time standing. He was covered in cuts and blood. Even so, he still showed determination. He wasn't about to stand down.

The Black Hunt on the other hand was getting annoyed. He was using mostly hit-and-run tactics. He would get in close, slash at Grampus and get out before grampus could catch him. His speed was his boon.

The Black Hunt also looked like he was having a bit of fun. He enjoyed this. Watching this fight was a bit infuriating.

"THE BLACK HUNT WAS CAUGHT! GRAMPUS HAS A HOLD OF HIM!"

As the announcer said, Grampus finally got a break. He grabbed the wolf's wrist before it could make another slash. Grampus abruptly pulled the wolf to the side revealing his other wrist. Grampus took hold and now had a major advantage.

The massive hunk of muscle reared his head. In doing so, The Black Hunt raised both feet and kicked Grampus hard in the stomach. Grampus held tight and smashed The Black Hunt in the head with his own.

Whether it was from the kick, the headbutt or if the blood loss was starting to get to him, Grampus released his opponent, stumbling backward. The Black Hunt fell to the ground, instantly grabbing his head in pain.

The Black Hunt stood up fairly quickly. Grampus wasn't recovering nearly as fast. The fight was turning very one-sided as Grampus was taking more and more damage. At one point, I looked at all of the referees to see if they were even considering stopping the match.

Every one of them was afraid. Were they afraid of the fighters? Did they not want to go in and stop the fight for the fear of their own lives? I walked up to the closest referee.

"Hey. Shouldn't this be stopped? Grampus doesn't look like he is able to go on much longer."

"We can't. As long as there is no clear winner and no one is in immediate danger of loss of life, we can't interfere."

"Really? Fine, I'll do it myself."

I was only able to get one step closer before a hand on my shoulder stopped my advance. I turned to face that same referee. I must have been in a bad mood because he looked more scared the moment I turned around.

"I-if you int-terfere... Y-you will be dis... dis..."

"Disqualified?"

He nodded his head.

I let out a loud "Tisk" to show my obvious disapproval. My hands were tied. At least at this moment.

If things take a turn for the worse, I will interfere.
