Chapter Thirteen

Chapter 13

Demitria Frostine

“N-no”

Raiden kneeled in front of me as he was pierced with his weapon. I didn’t want my dagger to be enveloped by anyone’s blood.

“I think you’ve won.” He said and gave me all the flags he had caught on his own.

“I know you didn’t want to say all of those words a while ago. You just want to use my emotions against me.”

“Lorcan was right… You are more than what they think of you.” I heard him mumbled but I wasn’t able to hear it clearly.

I supported his weight to lay him down and freeze the spot where I stabbed him to stop the blood from coming out. Two guards appeared again and put Raiden on a bed that they could carry.

“You’ve done well, Demitria.” He said before they vanished.

I looked at all the flags that I have. I already have twenty by defeating five other players. I am still not sure how many players are still there and when this battle will ends.

All players must be tired and injured and we all have no choice but to keep fighting until only those with the highest flag counts are left in the battleground.

I was inside a small cave near a river. I also brought plants that I can use to heal my wounds. I also lost blood with that fight and obtaining a new level of my power is making me more weak and tired.

That snowstorm was unexpected. I was still thinking about how I was able to execute such power. To be honest, I really felt scared when I saw Raiden’s uniform. Lorcan never used his thunder elements on me so I was not sure of how it works.

Thunder element users are rare. They barely go outside of their kingdom because they focus on enhancing their ability in their academy. Camellia told me this when she was touring me.

Speaking of her, is she still on the battlefield? What about Craig? I hope they are doing fine.

My senses become sharps when I heard footsteps again. I remained silent in fear that I will be battling again after that huge battle.

I hid behind a rock. It was dark inside the cave so this person might not see me. I waited until the footsteps were gone and went back to my position.

But I saw a man leaning on the rock and when I looked closely it was Lorcan. His face was full of blood, However, I am not sure whether it’s his or not?

“Lorcan? What happened?” I help him stand up and put him near my place. Good thing that I was able to use a few leaves for my wounds.

“Demitria…” He said panting. He looks so tired and weak.

I tried to clean his wound but it was too dark that I cannot see it properly.

“Lorcan, can you help me with the lights? I cannot see your wounds properly.” I asked him, tapping his shoulders gently.

He didn’t say anything but he raised his right hand a little bit and a small ball of light appeared, giving me enough chance to see and clean his wounds. Every touch of the leave on him makes him moan in pain.

His eyes were closed but I can see how much is he suffering from now through the wrinkles that were forming every time he felt stings on his body.

I looked at his wounds to assure how deep his cuts were. Luckily, it wasn’t that deep and his being unconscious was just the result of a tiring fight.

Three days have passed and Lorcan has regained his strength and wakes up from time to time.

“H-how?” He asked.

“You just entered my hiding place and I almost had a fight with you but I saw you and your wounds all over your body.”

“Thanks.”

“Yeah, No problem,” I said and continued cleaning his wounds. As expected all of them were starting to get better faster than I thought.

This battlefield was made by the most powerful elemental users. This might be part of an illusion but everything here was real and can be used at times. The battlefield was only above the academy. It was floating but we have a secret passage that leads directly there.

“I think you can be on your own now, we need to separate now,” I said and put all my things inside the bag that I got after a morning package I got.

Packages are delivered three times a day: Morning, afternoon, and evening. Those packages include foods, medicines a water bottle, and a weapon of your choice. But since, the packages contain almost all the necessary equipment needed to survive the bottle, getting one is a twist. It’s like going in on another battle but this time, time bombs and trip mines are your opponents.

I already got one, two days ago but I gave it to Lorcan since he needed it more than me and he could not get one for himself. I also think that I am fine and all I need now is food and water resource.

“Thank you for helping me,” said Lorcan.

“If it weren’t for you, I might not be even here after five days of the battle.”

We both agreed to continue the battle alone and walked on our own path. My goal now is to get a package for my own so I’m walking back to the open field and wait until the lunch package has arrived.

I might see an opponent while waiting for it so It’s better to be ready than being a surprise. I climb the nearest tallest tree that I found and place myself where I’m comfortable.

The sun is almost above me, it only means that it’s almost lunchtime so the package is about to come. I remained silent to be sure that no one will see nor hear me hiding here.

I plan to jump towards the package, catch it and then run away from here. I got a feeling that we are almost reaching the last 10 players.

“Here it comes,” I mumbled and ready myself.

When it almost hit the ground, I jumped towards it without hesitation. I was about to catch it when someone’s lasso hugged my body and pulled me away from the package and hit the ground.

I fell on the ground facing it and when I looked up I saw the girl that Craig likes. Tallulah was her name if I’m not mistaken. I rose from falling and brush off the dust on my body.

“Oh, just what we have here…” She said and took her lasso back on her side.

Her lasso was only made of water but it was strong as the regular ones. It was also glowing and as if it has its own life.

“The famous girl from the town,” She added and let the spear hit the ground. She was playing with her spear, almost that it looks like she’s trying to scare me with it.

“So what about now?” I asked.

“Nothing, I think we just have to finish each other for the first battle to ends. I do not want to hurt you so you can give up now and give me the flags.”

“I’m sorry, but I also have to get to the second battle,” I answered.

"Ooh, feisty. I like it," She said.

"Well, the feeling's not mutual," I answered.

"You're funny! I hope we can be friends after this." She said as he plays with the lasso.

"W-what are you talking about?"

"Nothing! Nevermind!" She said and positioned herself.

She was nice and I honestly believe that she was really genuine about not hurting me and asking me to gave her my flags.

“Fine. We’ll just need to find out who’ll join the next round.” She said and smiled.
