16: The Peony Flower

“Ervin! Thank goodness you are here,” Tanaka said as he held my hands.

“I was looking for you too,” I said as I looked around to see if someone’s watching.

“Come to my room, let us talk,” he said as he started walking.

Before I came to see Tanaka I overheard the conversation of Fabio and the Prince. They seem so happy with each other’s company. I’m fully aware of the promise I made when Tanaka helped Fabio get out of the palace, but I cannot take Fabio’s happiness. He is finally moving on with the death of his parents. What can I do if the Prince is the one who makes him happy? I know what might happen, knowing Fabio, he might do something that will ruin everything or save everyone. I should have been the one to stop this from happening again, but I can’t choose. Should I sacrifice Fabio’s happiness to keep the past from happening again?

“The Prince borrowed a book at the library. It was a book about flowers,” Tanaka said as he sat down.
