Marcus looked at the peephole noticing a tall masculine black man holding a green bag on his shoulder.
“Who is this,” he said to himself. The man knocked once again. Marcus put his hand on the door handle and opened the door. “May I help you, sir?” Marcus asked the man.
“You must be Marcus? He said. Marcus had that confused look on his face, he backed off a little bit and clenched in fingers just in case if the man tried to do something. “Umm, how you know my name?”
“I’m so sorry” the man apologized. “I’m a friend of your father and he told,d me that, I’d find his son or daughter at home.”
“What’s your name?” Marcus asked. The man did not look offended at all. “It’s Patrick Jhonson.”
“Alright, be right back,” Marcus said and closed the door. Patrick started to wander around waiting for Marcus.
Marcus went upstairs to Jenna’s room.
“Jenna, can I use your phone?” Jenna was laying on her bed under a sheet doing nothing. “Take it, it’s on the table,” she said.
“Are you ok?” Marcus asked. “I’m fine, I’m just cold,” Jenna responded facing the wall. “Look at me,” Marcus ordered her. She turned her face towards Marcus, she then smiled and twisted her mouth in embarrassment. “Awww, someone is embarrassed,” Marcus said in a funny manner. Jenna threw a pillow after him and then Marcus took the phone off the table then left the room.
2 minutes later.
Marcus opened the door once again which caught Patrick’s attention “What did your father say?”
“You can come in.” The man came in and look around.
“Make yourself at home,” Marcus said walking behind the man.
“So how did you meet my father?” Marcus asked. Patrick man put his bag down next to the couch and sat down.
“Well, we went to the same school and the same college, then after that we kept contacting each other,” Patrick responded.
Later that day….
-MARCUS POV-
My Mother, my Dad, Jenna, and Patrick were having dinner. It’s been a long time since we’ve done that. Everybody was laughing, drinking, and eating while I and Jenna were just sitting there and enjoying ourselves trying to be good kids in front of father who I personally don’t like that much because of how careless he is.
“I remember those days,” Patrick said laughing.
“Back in high school, we used to borrow our parent’s car to go get girls and do all kind of stuff,” Dad said. I deeply looked at him and I kind of felt happy for him and Mom was just smiling, I can’t define my love for her, she acts like a real mother to me, she turned her head in my direction and smiled at me.
Patrick was sitting next to me and then he touched my shoulder. “That’s a grown man you got right there, Hangus”
My dad laughed and compared old him and my current self “I was bigger than him back then! Back when I was 17, I already started playing basketball and was one of my father’s proudest kid.”
Patrick shook his fingers left and right in disagreement with my father's statement “You were Patrick back then and now he’s---- He did not know my name. “What’s your name, big man?” He asked.
“It’s Marcus” I responded to him.
He then tapped my shoulder twice “And he’s Marcus, stop comparing yourself with him.” Jenna felt like an outcast and then asked “Yet you and father have great chemistry between each other and he never mentioned you, why is that?” I kind of like this side of her, the side that’s always direct. My dad looked at her with a wrathful look and then Jenna stood up.
“I think that I’m going to go to sleep, nice to meet you, sir,” Jenna said.
“Nice to meet you too, lovely lady,” Patrick replied with a smile on his face. I can’t really tell whether he’s always happy or he’s just trying to make us think that he’s a good person. They talked for a while and then I left the table, washed my plate and glass, then went to my room cause it was around 12 O’clock.
-Tomorrow Morning-
I really did not want to come to school today. The hallways were crowded cause it was raining outside and the other students could not go out, everyone was having fun laughing and chilling while I was depressed for some reason that, I can’t figure out.
I walked inside the cafeteria and as soon as I got in, I felt like I just entered a haunted house. Everyone was looking at him with a smile on their faces but they did not to be laughing at me, so I ignored them completely and head straight for the restroom. I came out of the restroom and then far right, there was a foul of people, maybe it’s a fight or people arguing. I did not care, I just wanted some milk and eggs.
“Stop playing with me.” a girl said with anger in their voice. But it sounded like a voice, I know. I approached the foul.
“I said stay away or else.” a guy shouted.
“Or else what?” she responded, then she continued “let me pass.” she asked the crowd. I knew the guy’s voice but I was waiting to know who the girl was. I was standing on the right side of the crowd and she came out on the left and she did not notice me. It was from Jennifer. She looked angry enough to rip someone to shreds. I turned my back and started to walk away.
“Marcus,” Andre shouted behind me, and then everybody started to look at me the same way they did when I first got in.
“Wassup” I responded to him with a handshake.
“You free, this evening?” he asked me, holding two red cards in his hands.
I scratched my ears.
“Why?” I asked.
“I and the boys got a bicycle parkour this evening in the field next door and we got a 2 hours pass,” he said and then I looked up, noticing Jason looking at in weird, I turned to Andre.
“Yeah, I’m coming,” I responded.
“Yes.” He cheered as he lifted his head and both of his hands in the sky.
“Yooo, Marcus can we talk?” Jason shouted from afar. What could he possibly want from me, cause we are not friends, I said to myself.”
“Be right back, man,” I said to Andre and went to Jason.
“Make it quick,” I said with anger in my voice.
“Stop acting like a pussy.” He said. I wanted to punch him but it’s at fault for that, so I held on to my anger and stayed silent.
“You gotta stay away from, Jennifer,” he said.
I smirked at him “why?”
“Because she’s...
