The balcony was another comfort zone for Emily. Standing there she watched little children play, the strong scent of coffee coming from the nearby coffee shop. she could have swore she heard someone call out her name but she wasn't ready to start looking for who it was. The early morning breeze gave her assurance of things going back to the way it was. She and Derek going for dates, going to work together, taking pictures at new places.
"Fucking bastard" she spat as she pictured him on the aisle
And then she contemplated on whether to call him or not. After the long run, she brought out her phone and punched the call button after ringing thrice, he picked up
"Emily" he said
Her heart skipped a beat as she started breathing heavily
"Emily talk to me"
"Is" she breathed in heavily "Is it really over?" She tried not to cry
"I'm sorry to have hurt your feelings Emily"
"F-four years" tears welled up in her eyes
"You'd find someone better than me"
She scoffed "Definitely, or not, did you even think about how I'd feel, you're leaving shattered Derek"
"I really need to go, my wife is waiting for me"
"Did you ever love me?" She asked and silence filled the air
She checked her phone to see if he was still there and he was
"Tell me the truth, did I ever mean anything to you" she asked letting the tears drop
"No, no you never did and I never loved you" he hanged up
For a moment, Emily thought her world paused. She thought she heard it wrong. Did he truly never love her, was everything a lie from the beginning, was she a fool all these while. She slowly start on the floor holding her chest and breathing heavily
"Why, why" Emily screamed as she smashed her phone on the hard ground
"I was ready to do anything for you, why would you do this to me" she cried profusely
"Emily" she heard voices from behind her running to her direction
"Emily" April said kneeling beside her
"He never loved me, all this years, he deceived me, I'm such a fool"
"Emily" April pulled her closer hugging her
"It's okay, I'm always here for you, we've got this" she said patting her
Emily looked up only to see Donna, their third friend starting far away as she watched April consoling Emily. She didn't look too happy
"You'd be fine" she whispered and Emily nodded holding April tighter
