It was a pretty regular day for Eret. Just average like it had been for quite a while now. Well, apart from all the conflict, but he hadn't been involved. He sat on his throne, crown delicately placed upon his head. He was due to meet ip with Sapnap soon, and he had some time to kill. He never had much to do, so that's why he normally distracted himself with building.

He hardly spoke to anyone, and had hardly even communicated with L'Manburg since the... incident. But that was just the price he had to pay. When you abandon one group of friends, it sure as hell is difficult to fit in with another.

he used to call friends just continued without him. The way they stare at him, and don't even regard him sometimes. And the new people that joined them look at him exactly the same.

But he had brought it upon himself.

There wasn't a day that went by, in which Eret didn't regret what he did.

And now Schlatt had taken over, his urge to help was stronger than ever. He wanted to help Wilbur and Tommy, and whoever else was with them. He wanted to give them a place to stay.

But they couldn't trust him. How did they know he wouldn't do the same thing he did before?

They would immediately turn Eret down. He wasn't exactly high up on the list of people they trusted.

He pushed his thoughts aside, wanting a distraction, and as his phone vibrated in his pocket, it provided as a perfect one.

The screen lit up with a message, which shocked him.

——

Fundy🦊

Hi,

I know we have had our differences, but I need you to hear me out. I would like to move on, forget the past. I would like your help, okay. I think you can understand me more than anyone right now. Everybody hates me, I'm alone. I promise to make things right between you and Wilbur and everyone. You don't have to be there, and I won't expect you to, but if you want to help, meet me at the tower sometime soon.

Fundy.

——

From FUNDY! Surely Fundy had forgot about him long ago. Actually, when Eret thought about it, it wasn't that far out. Fundy had betrayed the same friends too. He had helped in destroying the L'Manburg, or rather, Manburg walls. Maybe he just wanted help destroying L'Manburg, and would convince him to join Schlatt, but something about the message felt genuine.

He tapped a text out to Sapnap, cancelling their plans for the day, and headed straight over to the tower, removing the weighty crown from his head.

——

"Fundy?" Eret called, as he walked over, and spotted the fox boy.

"Oh thank god you're here!" he pulled Eret straight into a hug.

"Why did you want me here?" Eret interrogated, still not completely trusting Fundy.

"Eret... I-I need to be truthful. I feel terrible about it. I feel terrible about it all. About tearing down the walls, burning the flag.. All of it," he admitted.

Eret breathed a sigh of slight relief. Fundy wanted help. It wasn't exactly helping Wilbur or Tommy, but it would do. Fundy had reached out to him, so the kindness in his heart willed him to help.

"I know all about it. I know it better than anyone, in fact. I've had to live with the regret, but you have to remember something Fundy, all actions have consequences, I would know," he patted the boy's back.

"I know that, and you... You regretted the control room, the betrayal?" Fundy asked, his eyes wide.

"Every single day. But I brought it upon myself, and so did you Fundy. It's the harsh truth."

"I want to help them," Fundy decided.

And Eret did too. He wanted to help everyone who was badly affected by Schlatt's new reign. His mind ticked, and eventually, he had an idea.

"You should be a spy. You can get close to Schlatt, gain some information on him, and then write it down," Eret suggested.

Fundy's eyes lit up.

"Here, take this book, write everything in it, and don't let Schlatt know about it," he handed him a small diary.

"Thank you Eret, and I will," Fundy replied pocketing the book.

"We've got some time, so I was thinking, what if we build you a secret bunker?" they suggested.

"That's a great idea!"

——

They spent the rest of the day and night building Fundy's bunker underground. The two talked a lot, and to repay his kindness, Fundy promised to fix Eret's relationship with the others.

Fundy finally had someone to trust.

He would prove to Wilbur, to everyone that he wasn't just a little kid anymore. He would fight, with fire.
