——

y/n woke up earlier than usual. The skies were dark due to the continuous pouring of rain. She got ready and did her normal Pogtopia morning rountine and got ready. She hoped that Tubbo would be able to visit today.

Tubbo visited then whenever he could get the chance, but it wasn't too often, since he didn't want to look suspicious. Recently Wilbur had been even more distant than ever. Whether it was Fundy or not, y/n didn't know, but she assumed that had something to do with it.

She went to go and grab some potatoes from the farm as normal, when she heard the smashing of glass.

——

She was confused. She wondered what it was. They didn't have any glass here as far as she knew.

y/n followed where the sound had come from, and found herself in the room with the jukebox which Wilbur liked to spend a lot of time in.

She walked in to him sat on the stone floor, back against the wall. Remnants of a glass bottle lay around him. He was shaking and his face had no emotion.

"Wilbur?" y/n questioned.

"Oh uh... yes y/n?" he replied, turning to face her. He looked lost, like he didn't know where he was. Unaware of his surroundings.

"What... What happened?" the girl asked, walking to pick up the glass.

"Oh I... I accidentally dropped the bottle," Wilbur stood up, still shaking.

"Will, you're-you're shaking! Have you been drinking?"

"Yeah just- water though," he stumbled.

"You sure you're okay?" y/n helped him stop shaking.

"Absolutely fine," he faked a smile, and walked out of the room.

y/n was worried about him, but she didn't want to bother anyone about it. Tommy needed all the sleep he could get, as they had training with Techno today.

——

After a few hours, she decided to wake Tommy up. She called out to him and he reluctantly woke up. Light conversation drifted around the ravine, and to their delight, Tubbo joined them shortly after.

——

Tommy and Wilbur had an argument about Tommy putting them in danger, which ended up with Wilbur telling Tommy he didn't want him to be at Schlatt's decree.

Wilbur was angry. He was going to turn. y/n wanted to speak to him before he did. Before he did something he was going to regret, but there wasn't time.

——

They made their way back to the heart of Pogtopia. Techno was still nowhere to be found, he was probably sleeping, so Wilbur and y/n got prepared to sneak into Manburg, whilst Tubbo gathered the courage to stabd with Schlatt. He had to do that a lot.

Schlatt called him again and y/n could hear his voice, chilling as ever, asking where he was again. She could feel the dread drop to her feet, and so she whispered to Tubbo to get to the library.

However, before he could get their, Tommy accidentally broke the wall, allowing Quackity and Schlatt to find Pogtopia.

Wilbur and Tommy started to argue again, but y/n instructed them to hide, and so they did.

With help from Tubbo, they were guided away, and Schlatt went back to Manburg to give his decree. Tommy convinced Wilbur that he was responsible, and so the three of them followed back not too far behind.

They breathed a sigh of relief. It was fine for now.

"What is that?" Wilbur spat in disgust, as he noticed a black flag with a magma symbol, in the place of the L'Manburg flag.

"I know, it's horrible," y/n agreed, "Wilbur have you been okay recent-

"Now's not the time, we need to listen," he silenced her.

Tubbo reassured them with a text, telling them it was fine to start watching.

——

"Fundy, I'd like you to restore the podium to it's former glory, I don't think it's good enough," Schlatt echoed, as y/n listened in.

"I agree, I'll get on that Mr President," Fundy replied. Wilbur flinched.

"I'm gonna give you a week Fundy, y'know why? Because it has to look nice for the Manburg festival!" Schlatt announced.

The Manburg festival?

y/n looked at Wilbur questioningly, but he just glanced back, as if to tell her to just go along with it.

She saw it happen.

As if a light bulb turned on in his mind, Wilbur's eyes flash an alarming red colour. He gave a small laugh, as a smirk spread across his face. I wasn't kind, but rather it looked villainous, unlike Wilbur at all.

y/n pretended not to notice, and made an effort to pay attention to whatever Schlatt had to say. Thoughts raced around her mind, as she heard Wilbur whispering to himself. She couldn't make out what he was saying.

Schlatt continued his speech, announcing details about the festival. Tommy joined them, as Wilbur continued laughing to himself. Could Tommy tell what was happening to him?

Obviously Wilbur and Tommy weren't invited, but y/n knew they'd be somewhere around. y/n was unknown to Schlatt, so she could go. She wanted to be there for Tubbo, so she made up her mind to sit back row, and not say a word.

But she couldn't help but feel like Wilbur was scheming beside them.

——

Tommy loaded his bow, not for the first time. y/n guessed it was just his defensive impulse to do that.

He started aiming, and both Wilbur and y/n shook their heads at him. It wouldn't solve anything.

Wilbur continued being strange, as they walked back and arrived at Pogtopia shortly after.

——

"I could have taken my shot," Tommy sighed.

"Tommy, we've had this conversation, shooting people isn't going to do anything!" Wilbur replied, annoyed.

——

I have a question for you Tommy," Wilbur said as soon as they were back into the ravine. y/n decided it wasn't her place, and so she went her separate way.

She walked off, but her attention was draw back to the brother's conversation immediately.

——

"This festival seems like a good idea. This doesn't seem bad or evil," Wilbur was in rant mode, it was easy to tell.

y/n hid behind the wall. She could hear their every word. She would stay there for a while.

Wilbur's voice had an edge to it.

"Tommy, are we the bad guys?" he asked, "We kinda just made ourselves the leaders and then he won, and now we're trying to overthrow him."

So this was what the strange behaviour at the festival was about?

"I feel like we're the bad guys," Wilbur continued, "T-Tommy am I the villain in your history?"

y/n peaked around the wall. Tommy stood with a scared expression on his face. He looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there.

"No," the boy replied, "We started L'Manburg, we should have won that vote."

"The people decided otherwise. Our arrogance got to our heads, and we said yes to a coalition government! Tommy I think we're the bad guys, and I want to say something." he persisted.

"Wilbur?"

"Let's be the bad guys."

——

And then it all seemed to add up. The evil had overtaken him. Listening to Schlatt's speech, convincing himself that he was evil.

They were too late, too late to save him.

"Why shouldn't we be the villains Tommy, our nation is gone, it's far behind us now. Let's blow that motherfucker to smithereens!" Wilbur continued to yell.

It wasn't Wilbur, not the Wilbur they knew. Why hadn't y/n just spoke to him? She blames herself for it all, maybe if she'd just said no to Tubbo, then it would all be fine.

No, it wasn't anyone's fault.

——

"Let's blow it all up," Wilbur had a hunger in his eyes, a hunger for evil.

"Wilbur are you thinking straight?" Tommy desperately tried to argue. But his brother had his mind set, and no amount of convincing to turn him back.

"Tommy, I say IF WE CAN'T HAVE MANBURG, NO ONE CAN HAVE MANBURG!"

"No Wilbur I-I think-

The two argued for some time, whilst y/n just hid and listened. Where was Technoblade when you needed him?

y/n tuned back into the conversation. If only she had helped him.

But Wilbur's plan was clear in his head.

——

"Wilbur, we can take it back, it isn't too far gone, you're being reckless," Tommy reasoned.

"What's the point Tommy, so much blood was shed to get L'Manburg, if we got it back, even more blood would be shed!"

"Wilbur the reason we made L'Manburg was to get away from it all-

"Tommy, I know why you're doing this. Tommyinnit you're scared."

——

y/n wished she would just step out of her place and say something, but her mind decided otherwise.

She wanted to be there for Tommy, Wilbur was the one person he trusted and looked up to most. Wilbur had always been there for him when no one else had.

And now he was making him choose.

But they weren't the villains, Schlatt was.

Nothing. Nothing would change Wilbur's mind.  It would do nothing. Sure, Wilbur was mostly a great person, but he was stubborn.

"You're scared that people will think differently of you. Tommy when I said you're never going to be the president, it wasn't a challenge, it was the truth. I know that you're trying to prove me wrong, you're trying to be a hero Tommy (THEN DIE LIK- oop, wrong place, wrong time) but heroics won't get you anywhere. We've already lost, so I say we rig their festival with TNT. We can kill them all Tommy!"

"Wilbur what about Tubb-

"HE'S LYING TO YOU! Everyone who's pretending to be on our side, they're lying to us. The second Tubbo realises we're not in the lead anymore-

y/n struggled to listen. She pinched herself, what if it was just a bad dream.

Nope, she could feel it. She was currently living in a nightmare.

They could win it back couldn't they?

With the final word said about it for now, Tommy had agreed to stick with Wilbur, if he truly believed it was right.

y/n was left with a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.

——

Fortunately, this conversation was halted, when Tubbo entered Pogtopia.

"What are you doing at the festival?" Wilbur fired his question at once.

"Uhm... well I am in charge of decorations and..."

"And what?"

"And Schlatt has ordered me to do a speech," he admitted.

"A speech about Manburg, and democracy?"

"Yep."

"Oh that's definitely not something a traitor would do," Wilbur giggled, but it was far from a happy giggle. It was the type of giggle you'd hear from the villain in a Disney movie.

And then Schlatt called Tubbo again. They heard his voice down the phone, asking where Tubbo was once again. He always wanted to know where Tubbo was, like he owned him or something.

y/n saw the way Tubbo had to keep running back from Pogtopia, putting a fake smile on his face.

He was hurting him.

Schlatt was hurting him.

Sure, not physically, but Tubbo wasn't the boy he was a short time ago. Wilbur was a shell of his former self.

None of them were the same as before.

The election had broken them all apart, and the conversation that she had just heard rang through y/n's head. She was scared of what would become of them all, what would become of L'Manburg, and how the world would change.

Who was there to trust anymore?

She was sure she could trust Niki, but then again, who knew? But there was one person who she could trust, who she was sure was in the same position as her.

She needed to speak to Tommy.
