"Tommy!" the girl called, running towards him.

"y/n where were you? Wilbur-

"I know, I heard it all," she interrupted him.

"Everything?" Tommy questioned.

"Yes, everything. I saw his eyes flash red, when we were listening into Schlatt's speech. It was different, like I'd never seem him before, and now..this!" y/n exclaimed.

"So, what do we do then? Wilbur's lost it... I guess it's just us now," the blond haired boy sighed.

"No, we have Tubbo too. Don't listen to him, Tubbo's with us, and I'm sure Niki is too and... Techno?"

"He'll stick with us for now, but he's basically his own side. He just wants there to be no government or whatever," Tommy explained. He'd never understood Techno a lot, but then again, no one had.

"The point is, we can take it back!" y/n assured him.

"I'm not so sure..."

"Tommy you have to believe in us! Don't let Wilbur get to your head. I know you've trusted him for so long, but he's changed now."

y/n could help but feel like she was trying to convince herself too. It wasn't too hopeful.

They heard Wilbur faintly call to Tommy from outside, and he ambled out of the ravine.

"Dream is here now. I gotta stop them from doing anything stupid."

"I'll watch," y/n decided at once, following shortly behind him, and getting into a snug hiding place which was perfect to see and hear the conversation.

——

Dream arrived, looking the same as the day y/n had met him.

"Hey Dream," Wilbur greeted, as him and Tommy stood side by side.

"Hey Wilbur, what'd you need me for?" he asked.

"So...um, you've heard that Schlatt is having a festival right?"

Dream nodded.

"Dream how much would you agree that me and Tommy are the bad guys?" Wilbur continued to ask.

"I-I wouldn't say you're the bad guys as such," he replied, carefully picking his words.

"We killed people to get leadership, we didn't do much and then-

"Wilbur, I think sometimes a ruler can be unfit for the role."

"No-I, no I get you. Dream you have vested interests though. I think you would enjoy some conflict between Manburg and Pogtopia, and I'm here to facilitate that," he persisted.

"I don't think... I-J think that JSchlatt is a little more ambitious than you I'd say," Dream continued.

"Dream, let me be your vassal. You have a lot of TNT in your possession, don't you?" Wilbur asked, an evil smirk on his face.

"I have a bit."

"I want to rig the city."

"Well I was thinking-

"Dream don't do it, don't give it to him," Tommy interrupted them

"I'm sorry Tommy, I have to."

"I appreciate it Dream, I do! But Tommy, you're not understanding, Dream doesn't want us to win, he just wants both sides to be weak. And Dream, I'm not scolding you on this, you-you're a smart guy. I can weaken the both of us," Wilbur convinced.

"I do want Pogtopia and Manburg to be nothing more, and I want L'Manburg to be something," he confessed.

"Why do you want L'Manburg Dream?" Tommy looked straight into his eyes, well, his mask eyes, "You're the reason we had to make L'Manburg in the first place!"

"Schlatt is ambitious, and that- that's a bad thing, he just wants power, he wants land, to expand. I was fine with L'Manburg when you guys just kept to yourselves, I-I didn't care," he explained.

"But it wasn't fine when we had the war-

"I've had a change of heart."

y/n just stayed in her spot, whilst she watched the scene unfold before her eyes.

Wilbur let out another horror-striking, villainous laugh.

"Dream don't you see? THIS IS MAKING ME AMBITIOUS! IF I'M TAKING POWER I WILL BE AMBITIOUS! Dream, LET ME DESTROY IT ALL!"

"Wilbur, WILBUR NO! This isn't right," Tommy yelled back desperately.

"Tommy you aren't in charge. You're not-

"Wilbur no."

It was too late, Dream had passed him the TNT.

——

"WILBUR HAND ME THE TNT!" Tommy threatened, pulling out his crossbow.

Wilbur only grinned.

"Tommy I-I'll have to step in," Dream replied, quite literally stepping in front of Wilbur (this scene lives rent free in my head).

"Wilbur, Dream this isn't right. I'm not going to betray you Wilbur, I'll stand by you if this is what you want, but this isn't the right way to go about it. We can build back L'Manburg to it's former glory, but blowing it up is only going to waste more time, and we don't have enough of that," Tommy reasoned.

Wilbur giggled again, unsettlingly.

Was this a joke to him?

"Tommy, none of what you're saying matters. You always think you're so wise, so clever, so heroic... Look Dream, I-I very much appreciate your help."

Wilbur let Dream know of his plans, and Dream was soon gone.

——

Tommy went back inside the ravine, unable to watch Wilbur place the TNT. y/n was their to comfort him.

"Tommy you tried, that was all you could do," she sympathised.

"Yes but I just wish..." he lost his thoughts, sinking down into the spot he was sat in.

"Should we tell Tubbo?" y/n asked after a few minutes of silence.

"No, we- we wouldn't want to worry him."

"If Wilbur's going to blow it up at the festival, should I still go?" y/n further questioned. She wanted some answers, very simple ones at that, but they were enough.

"If you want just... please get out of there. If you see Dream around, then go."

She nodded and they sat for the rest of the night, conversation occasionally drifting between the two of them from time to time.

To be completely truthful, they both needed someone, dark days were around the corner, the festival was tomorrow, and the two of them were glad to have a friend to rely on.
