"Chose me, y/n, chose me."

"No, chose me. I know what's right. I'm your only family."

Tommy and Tubbo towered over the girl, making her feel smaller than ever. Tubbo wore a fresh black suit, which didn't have a single crease in sight, along with an alarming blood red coloured tie. Horns spouted from out of his head, and his eyes flashed red.

Tommy, on the other hand, wore a familiar long, brown leather jacket, which was worn and weathered, along with a dark red beanie, and an exhausted expression. Most alarmingly, in his hand, sat a stick of TNT.

"y/n let's be the bad guys, just me and you," Tommy said, his eyes flashing red, but a different shade to Tubbo's eyes.

"y/n, I'm the president. I know what's right for L'Manburg, it's going to change around here. Join us, it's going to be much more peaceful, and I want you to be a part of it," Tubbo boomed menacingly.

y/n wanted to shrink away from the two figures, but there was nowhere for her to hide.

Suddenly, she was whisked away to a dark room, scenes flashing before her eyes.

"Do you want to be a hero? THEN DIE LIKE ON-

——

y/n shot awake, eyes opening wide.

"You okay?" Tommy asked immediately, voice laced with concern for the girl. He'd already woken up and had gotten the campfire going.

"Y-yeah I- just..." y/n stuttered, shaken up. She sat up in an attempt to push down the emotions and confusing thoughts the nightmare had provoked. But it was just a nightmare, that was all.

"Bad Dream?" Tommy questioned, reading her mind.

"Yeah. I- I'm just a bit shaken up from it," the girl explained, shivering in the early morning breeze.

"I'm always here," Tommy offered, sitting down on the log next to y/n and passing her the jacket back, and an apple.

"I'm good. But thanks," she uttered gratefully, taking a small bite from the apple, and slipping the jacket around her. She shook the nightmare away, getting comfortable on the log beside Tommy.

——

"So, what should we do today?" y/n asked, keeping the conversation light after the pair had finished up eating their apples, and she had warmed up.

"I don't know, there's not exactly much to do around here..." the blond haired boy pondered for a few moments, "Ghostbur will probably be back soon though."

"Okay, cool."

The two of them then spent a few hours building and talking, until they had a visit, which definitely took them by surprise.

——

"Hello!" Dream greeted in an overly friendly manner, Sapnap following behind him.

y/n had developed a... dislike for Dream over the past few days, and so his presence was not appreciated at all.

"Have you got anything?" he questioned, digging out another pit.

Tommy sighed, throwing various building materials onto the ground. y/n did the same, along with some stone tools she couldn't care less about. She knew it wasn't worth making any good tools, and so the girl refrained. Tommy however, hadn't.

"I know you're keeping something from me Tommy," Dream pushed, almost laughing.

"I don't have anything else," he persisted, handing y/n a disc he had gotten behind their backs. It was the worst one, Stal, but it was still a disc nonetheless.

"What about the armour you're wearing, for a start?"

"Dream I earned this myself."

"Drop it in the hole."

"No why should-

"Tommy, do it," y/n demanded, elbowing him in the ribcage. She didn't want anymore threats from Dream.

"Fine," the boy spat, dropping his tools and armour into the hole.

Dream blew it all up again.

——

"So, how's exile been?" he asked, once again as if nothing had just happened.

"It would've been better without you pr-

"Tommy!" y/n warned. The last thing she wanted was for Tommy to regret his actions and words... again.

"Why are you even here anyways?"

"Because Tommy, I know what you're like. You don't listen to me. You are the only-the only person that doesn't obey me. You do the exact opposite to what I want, like an annoying little bug in my room. I'm just making sure that you stay here, and I brought Sapnap along too," Dream explained, sounding slightly agitated.

y/n glanced at Tommy thoughtfully, however he didn't look hurt at the comment, as y/n had thought he would be, he just sighed, waving half-heartedly at Sapnap.

They decided to go mining, since there wasn't anything else of use around here, and it was great to be spending time gathering something which would inevitably be blown up in the near future.

They didn't want Dream to be here, it was plainly obvious, but alas, he stayed.

"But don't worry Tommy, you're my friend."

——

After a few successful hours of mining. Well, if you could even call it that, the four of them headed back up to the surface, and were greeted by a familiar, ghostly face.

"Hello," Ghostbur floated towards them.

"Hey Ghostbur!"

"I was looking for you guys!" he exclaimed, sighing.

"We went mining," Tommy explained.

"Oh, okay, that explains. And hey Sapnap! Would you like me to show you around our campsite?" Ghostbur offered, beaming at the guy.

"Sure," he agreed.

The five of them entered, Dream, Tommy and y/n sitting down as Ghostbur lead Sapnap around, practically detailing every single item in every chest.

"Wow, you sure do have a lot of blue!" Sapnap awed.

"Yes, blue absorbs sadness and makes people happy!" Ghostbur took pride in explaining.

A bit more time was spent, talking, but it passed the time easier, making the experience of exile less boring or painful, and so y/n was somewhat thankful for it after all.

——

"I want to make a tent," Tommy decided, "So I can look out into the sunset."

"We can do that," Dream assured, dropping some white wool for him.

After much trial and error, along with design changes, Tommy finally had a tent which he was happy with.

"What should we call it?" y/n asked. It had kind of become a tradition to give everything a name now, animate or not.

"We should call it Trent," Tommy suggested.

"Yeah, like Trent the Tent," Ghostbur added, passing the blond a wooden sign.

He placed the sign down, and accidentally misspelled, and so it read:

Tnret

"Whoops, I misspelled it," Tommy sighed, going to break the sign.

"I think we should keep it that way," Ghostbur giggled. The others followed, laughing.

"Tnret!"

"Hey Dream, would I be allowed to go to the nether?" Tommy questioned, as they stumbled upon a broken portal.

Dream thought for a moment.

"Yes... as long as you only go through this portal into the nether, and back through the same one again," he stated firmly.

Tommy lost a bit of the glint in his eye he had just gained, but was still happy that they could develop a way for people to visit him.

Placing down some obsidian, Dream lit the portal, and him and Tommy entered, closely followed by y/n, Ghostbur and Sapnap.

——

"Dream this is awfully close to everywhere else," Sapnap warned, as he pointed to a nearby portal, which was merely metres away.

"Yeah, Dream what happens if I go through?" Tommy asked again, despite already knowing the answer.

"You already know Tommy," Dream spat in response.

"But what happens if you aren't here-

"I'll know about it."

The boy's eyes drifted around, seeming to be deep in thought, and then, impulsively, he ran towards the portal.

Dream and y/n jumped in front of Tommy before he had time to enter.

"Tommy, I'm sorry, but you know that you can't go through," y/n uttered in a hushed tone.

"I know..." he sighed.

"Yeah, watch this Tommy!" Sapnap mocked, as he entered the portal, laughing.

"Guys please don't rub it in-

"Ooh look, home! A Christmas tree!" Dream taunted, following Sapnap through.

"Stop, please!" y/n urged. She could see how Tommy's eyes clouded over. How could they do something like that to him? No matter what she said, they wouldn't stop mocking him.

"Can I go and see the Christmas tree?" Tommy pleaded.

"No," Dream replied bluntly.

"I can bring you a photo of it, if you would like?" Ghostbur offered.

Tommy didn't answer. The point of a photograph was to capture a memory which you've been a part of. Not being a part of it kind of defeats the entire point of it, but whatever.

Dream and Sapnap still continued, using their best efforts to make Tommy feel unwanted, and it was clearly working, but y/n could tell that Tommy had zoned out, probably concentrating hard on a thought.

Tommy edged closer to the lava on the thin pathway, facing down into it. The bright orange colour illuminated his face, and he could feel the warmth of it.

He stared down for quite some time, enjoying the heat of it. y/n continued to watch him, his face emotionless. He glanced back at the girl, the blue in his eyes seemingly faded.

"Tommy..." y/n wanted him to stop. It wasn't the answer. They'd get through this together.

"It's not your time to die... yet," Dream emerged from the portal, pushing Tommy away from the edge.

"Yeah, I guess it's never my time to die."

They headed back to Logsted camp, and Ghostbur gifted Tommy a photo of the Christmas tree. It was a nice gesture, really, but may have done more harm than good.

It was time for Dream and Sapnap to leave, then along with Ghostbur.

y/n lit the campfire. It was just her and Tommy, sat on the logs in silence again. y/n couldn't help but notice that Tommy was quieter than usual, looking more tired and fed up. He'd lost a piece of himself that day.

"Tommy you can talk to me," y/n began.

"Okay I- I don't know if I'm gonna make it... until Christmas, even."

"Tommy, I'm here. You aren't alone, okay," y/n assured, placing her hand on the boy's shoulder.

"But it's different, you could just go back- you could've gone back today. Why didn't you go back?"

"Because I'm not going back without you, it has to be us together, but we have to stay strong out here."

"But- but I like the sound of being a ghost. I look at Ghostbur, and I wish to be like him. Sure, Wilbur had a troubling past, but Ghostbur doesn't remember any of that. I don't want to remember," Tommy sighed.

"I said it was going to be hard, and I wasn't lying Tommy, but we need to be there for each other. We have to stay alive."

"You're right, I guess."

And the night was spent, just the same as the other. Tommy went to sleep, this time in his tent, and y/n pulled out the diary one again, words flooding onto the blank page:

Page 3

Dear diary,

First full day of exile, huh? It's not good, to put it shortly. Firstly, I woke up to a nightmare. It still haunts my brain vividly. I feel as if they might become all too common, so I can say goodbye to sleeping, I guess.

Dream and Sapnap taunted Tommy, nearly pushing him over the edge, quite literally, I need to be there for him, I won't go back to L'Manburg without him.

Goodnight,

y/n x

The girl pocketed the book, sighing. She guessed it was going to be a long night.
