CHAPTER 15

     The contest had already commenced. Liam's family sat at one corner of the room while Jacob's parents sat on the other side. My mum and Jasmine's mum sat together shaking their heads in chagrin. They knew we weren't good at cookery.

       Jasmine and I strode around our side of the kitchen with our hands on our chins. She made such a huge bet without thinking of the outcomes. I brought out a very big pot, placed it on the cooker, and turned it on.

       "Why don't you know how to prepare a simple meal?" Jasmine broke the long silence.

       "If you had allowed me to speak, we won't be in this dilemma." Is she trying to put the blame on me?

       "I wish you told me earlier." She flipped her hair, making sure to show me her big round belly.

       I'm not Jacob. It's not going to work on me. It's your fault we are in the mess. "It's my fault now?" I feigned concentration.
