Disturbing Discovery

I couldn't wait until those Desyns appeared again. It was their choice to turn someone against us, and now it's my choice on how I want to return the favor.

My thoughts were everywhere. Specter and Edward's theory was insane.

The worst part about that theory is how well it connects.

A sudden jolt of curiosity took over me. I stood up and exited the armory.

I had to look for myself.

Desyn, one of the most mysterious places since the Calamity. Citizens disappeared day-by-day and now Savages apparently reclaimed that place.

If whoever remained from the original bunch of Savages is still alive and ordered this attack, we must kill them before they could harm any more people.

I climbed on a nearby hill to look into the town from afar, "Desyn. The last time I was here, I was helping make this area a little safer. And this is why I have returned."

Everything was still. As if the entire town entered a dreamlike state.

"Hmm, looks good from far away. Maybe if I get closer, I can spot a difference." I thought.

By the footstep, I slowly realized why everything was so still.

There were still people living here. But they didn't care enough to repair the damages from our previous fight.

I nearly turned the corner and bumped into two Savages. Deep inside I wanted to attack, but I fought off that thought and instead listened.

A Savage brought out a small wooden box from a burnt white house. I remember Warmonger setting everything ablaze, just to make everyone fear her.

The other Savaged took the box, "Man, I'm glad we're finally joining a bigger Family. Living out here would mean the death of us if anyone stumbled across us."

"Oh yeah. Imagine if those DRT guys came back. We wouldn't survive the attack. The first time around, we barely made it out. If they come by again, we're dead." This Savage stumbled back inside the house.

"Unlucky… but what's a 'Family?' And why are they excited to join one?" More questions clouded my mind.

It started getting clearer that this whole mess would end soon.

Both Savages started walking down the stone-paved path that cut through the town. They were walking back to their new homes.

I had to follow them. This is the final key to disprove or approve this theory.

I started making mental notes of where we were going, "From Desyn, follow the path North."

We kept walking for ten minutes, until we came across a split of the path.

Now they started getting suspicious. One Savage looked around for anyone around.

They almost saw me. I was hiding behind the bushes around the path.

My breathing went slower. But my heart raced. I wanted them to move on. So I could get out of this situation as quickly as possible.

And finally, they moved on. It was safe for me to take a deep breath, "Follow the path North until you come across a split."

The pair of Savages quickly sprinted into the bushes across from me.

I felt lucky and unlucky at the same time. They wouldn't run past or next to me, but they ran across from me.

In a sudden motion, I ran from my side and after them as silently and quickly as I could.

At first, I thought I lost them. But after a few seconds of running in their direction.

The bushes and trees quickly faded, and behind the cover of nature, a Stronghold came into view.

"At the split, turn left."

This was the perfect place for a faction to hide out at. Because this was a Stronghold built for war.

Before, the Calamity and the world was torn apart by the series of unlucky events. Two governments fought for control in this region.

Places to keep wounded and tired soldiers were needed, so each side built Strongholds to satisfy the need.

But they couldn't place them anywhere, them being hidden was a must-have.

Over the years, this Stronghold looks like it has started to crumble. Giant cracks lined the light green stone walls of the Stronghold.

The gates were no different. They looked soaked and beaten.

I couldn't see beyond the walls, but I knew I had stumbled across something horrifying.

If this is evidence of other teams of Savages finally putting their differences aside to unite against us, then the worse is about to come.

"Easily breakable walls and gates."

And with that, I had gathered enough information. It was time to return home and give the news to Specter.

Edward was outside patrolling the area. His camouflaged armor made him stick out from the small home base that was being constructed.

I rushed over to Edward, "Edward, we need to talk about something serious. Go to the armory right now."

"I dislike this already."

Edward walked to the armory for the second time that day.

Specter and Defender always hung out in the main set of houses. So asking for them to meet up at the armory was quick.

The only one left was Warmonger.

After looking for what felt like hours, I decided to forget about her and run back to the armory.

"He's finally here." Warmonger's sour voice announced to the whole room.

"Well, explains why you were the hardest to find. Anyway, I've put our little theory to sleep today. Sadly, it appears some Desyn Savages want blood. And they've partnered up with a new 'Family-"

"Wait, did you just say they partnered up with a 'Family?' Heviks told me about this earlier." Warmonger seemed pleased.

"What are they?" Specter slammed his hand on the table.

"They sound like clans of some sort. And this confirms it.

I felt an uneasy burn on the whole left side of my body. My eyes quickly met Defender's, "Um, hi?"

"How can you handle hearing Warmonger talk about her results of torture?"

"What's up, princess? Can't handle the harsh reality? If someone selfishly betrays us, they deserve hot metal run across their naked back!" Warmonger began getting aggressive.

I quickly got between the two, "Yes, I know it's hard hearing what she does, but it's the best we can do. Locking someone up for a while doesn't have the same impact anymore."

"Okay, write everything you can remember somewhere and give it to me. I'll look at this tonight. Tomorrow morning we should grease up our siege gear."
