The Captain

You made your way over to the gymnasium appropriately, grabbing a sandwich out of a vending machine midway. The doors to the courts were already open, and from afar, you could see a group of boys tossing volleyballs across it. You grinned to yourself, taking a bite out of your food.

This was going to be fun.

Coming closer to the gymnasium, the voice's grew louder as you approached. Stepping inside, you were greeted by none other than a volleyball ball heading towards your direction. Before you could react, the same boy Akari spoke of―with dyed blonde hair―stopped it before it could collide with your skull.

You jumped back immediately, dropping your sandwich in shock. "I saved ya!" The guy had a breezy look on his face, "Are you okay?" You nodded your head slowly, instantly recognising him to be Atsumu himself. He quickly bent down to pick up your sandwich as well as the container you bought it in, discreetly looking up your skirt in the process.

You snorted quietly, briskly recognising the boy's playful aura. It was funny to think that this guy seriously had no dignity... I mean, you had just met, and he was already digesting your carnal appearance without any sort of shame. However, it sort of thrilled you, to be honest.

Maybe coming here was no mistake?

"Sorry, here is yer' sandwich! I can buy ya another one if you want?" He quizzed, placing the container in the palm of your hands. You shook your head, throwing him a warm smile. "It's alright," You giggled, "I didn't like the taste of it anyway."

You actually really loved that sandwich...

"Oi!! 'Tsumu, get ya ass over here right now! Stop flirting with the pretty third-year!" He sighed heavily before turning to face his identical twin. "Shut ya trap, Samu! She nearly got killed!"

Another hearty laugh escaped your lips. While Atsumu ran off to tackle his brother, you made your way over to the benches where their coach sat. "Hey", You greeted him politely, bowing your head.

"I heard you guys are looking for a manager?"

You smiled towards the man, sooner catching sight of a particular boy standing next to the coach. He had silvery hair with black tips, a knowing look on his face that could've been considered deadpan to most.

It looked as if he was unbothered by your sudden appearance, which somewhat antagonised you. Everyone within Inarizaki High recognised you instantly, maybe showing some form of acknowledgement, but for him, nothing piqued his interest.

It provoked you more than anything.

The coach returned the gesture, nodding afterwards. "Yes, we are, indeed. Are you here to sign up as one?"

You chuckled lightheartedly, "Of course, sir, I've always wanted to manage a volleyball team!"

Before the coach could continue, the same boy who awoke your interest spoke up hastily, "Kurosu-sensei? May I have a word, please?"

You glanced over towards him, locking eyes with his dull brown orbs. His pupils contracted when meeting your gaze, an incognito look sheltering his genuine emotions. You pursed your lips, keeping firm eye contact with him while a smirk ghosted his mouth.

Raising an eyebrow questioningly, an uncanny feeling washed over your body, and you didn't like it one bit.

What was this guy's problem? Had you met him before? Surely not?

If you couldn't remember the names of the people you slept with, you sure as hell remembered faces. But his? Nothing clicked. His aura reeked of hostility that you hadn't noticed up until now. Maybe because the clueless you didn't give a shit about those sort of things, to begin with. However, a face like his was hard to forget. Especially when it looked rideable as all hell.

But why was he so uptight about your appearance?

The coach shifted his gaze back towards you, throwing you an 'excuse me' facial expression before standing up. You bowed respectfully, nodding your head as well, watching the two walk off.

Your mind continued to ponder as you slumped down on the bench beside you, huffing loudly. You had seen that type of look before, one you were very much familiar with. It wasn't parallel to a 'disappointing' look, but moreso a disgusted judgement, if anything.

It reminded you of the pitiful look your father gave you when you were younger. You hated how this boy somewhat resembled him. You didn't want to think back to those evocations anyway. All you wanted to know was why he hated you. That's all it was.

Why was he not affected by your charms like other people were?

It was a continuous attitude that spiralled within your brain, almost collateral to an insecurity, and you despised it.

As soon as you strolled into this gymnasium, you instantly noticed an extra pair of eyes on you. However, you weren't aware that it was his.

I mean, it made sense now. Everything was crystal clear. The way he looked at you, the disgusted look in the shadows of his orbs, the pitiful grins...

At first glance, you thought it was an amatory look, but you knew that wasn't the real reason why he had his eyes trained on you. Something else made him feel highly disgruntled, and you needed to understand why that was.

"Sensei, I am sorry if this comes off as harsh, but we definitely do not need a manager like her." He stated bluntly.

Coach Kurosu folded his arms over his chest, humming as he turned his head back over towards you again. He sighed heavily, "If this is personal, Kita-"

"It's not-" Kita was quick to respond, shooting his coach a stammering expression.

There was a moment of silence before he spoke again, later letting out a heavy sigh, "I just don't think someone like her is fit to manage a volleyball team. That's all."

The old man raised an eyebrow, "I see. Well, I will take your observation into account, but given no one else has decided to show up, we have no choice but to take her in."

Kita hummed quietly, glancing over towards you again with a fixed look on his face. "If we have no other option, I will take full responsibility for her."

Kurosu nodded his head slowly, not truly understanding what he meant by "full responsibility", but he agreed with it anyway. It seemed like they were in desperate need of a manager, so lucky for you, it looks as though you scored that role perfectly.

He met orbs with the boy once more, placing a hand on his shoulder while chuckling lightly, "And this is why you make a good captain Kita."

"Kurosu-sensei." The both of them shifted their gaze towards a boy with grey-ish yellow eyes to their left. "We have finished warming up. Should we practice some drills-" The boy paused, glancing over at Kita with a contrite look plastered on his attributes.

"I'm sorry." He bowed, raising his head afterwards. "Did I interrupt something?"

The coach let out another low chuckle, shaking his head. "Not at all, Suna!" He turned his head towards you, who was once again lost in thought at the side benches.

"We were just discussing a recent request from a third-year girl who wants to become our manager." He stated simply.

Suna shifted his mood back to a vacant one, turning his gaze where the two of them had been staring, locking onto your own figure almost instantly.

He turned his attention back towards the two males, "I mean, I honestly don't care who the manager is. If they get the job done, that's all I care about." He shrugged nonchalantly. "But she's kinda cute." He let out a soft chuckle, earning a goggle from Kita.

Kurosu shook his head in amusement, "Fair enough", He smiled livelily. Kita sighed quietly, quickly speaking up, "We better get into those drills. Have you warmed up properly, Suna?"

Suna nodded his head towards the grey-haired boy, glancing over at the rest of the team. "Those idiots haven't done much with warming-up, though." The boy eyed off the twins, a grimace making its way onto his features.

Kita groaned, "Gather them around, and we will discuss the drills first. I will speak to the new manager for the time being."

The dark, brown-haired boy inclined his head, jogging over towards the rest of the group.

Kita bowed and excused himself from Coach Kurosu, walking over towards you. His arms were crossed over his chest while a maroon coloured jacket hung off his shoulders.

He stood at a halt, towering in front of your figure, "You've changed a bit." You were finally brought back to the present by his dark silhouette. You hummed, incidentally ignoring his last statement.

"Hmm?" You met orbs with the boy, leaning your head on the flat of your palm. "Have I slept with you before- Or?" You tried to seem unbothered by his appearance; however, that was far fetched at this point. Still, you turned your gaze back to the court, meeting eye contact with Atsumu once more.

He casually sat down next to you, brushing a thigh up against your own unknowingly―or so you thought. You couldn't quite tell what games this boy was playing it.

Swallowing suddenly, you felt him lean in to ghost the shell of your earlobe, his body language taking you off guard completely. You felt his warm, steady breath brush up against the skin of your ear, tickling it while he clicked his tongue.

"Just remember, you're only here because I allowed it." The unidentifiable venom in the tone of his voice sliced through your eardrums. "I'm really surprised you don't recognise me?" He paused for a split second, taking in a deep breath, "However, I know what type of girl you are now, so if you get any dirty ideas with any of my boys, you won't hear the last of it. I promise."

You grinned nervily, biting your bottom lip in the process. Kita still kept the small distance between the both of you, not giving you free personal space.

All of this? It was fucking amusing to you. He was so rilled up for what seemed to be nothing... Finding out what sort of grudge he held against you should be the least of your worries, but the more he provoked you, the more excited you got, wanting to snap back at him―the same level of snarkiness.

You turned to face the boy, gazing into his dull brown eyes blissfully, not a sight of worry on your face. The sardonic gaze you shot back at him was threatening, almost as menacing as the tone he dared to bite you with in the first place.

Shit was just getting started, and you were fucking ecstatic.

You placed a soft palm on his thigh, playing along with his bold actions. You caressed the skin, keeping firm eye contact with him while leaning in to lick his earlobe with your tongue. "I don't like it when people threaten me, babe," You squeezed his thigh, earning a displeased twitch from Kita in response. "But since it's you, I'll think of it as a challenge."

You sat back on your palms, licking your lips teasingly while crossing one leg over the other, observing him carefully.

At this point, you thought you had gone too far with it―no... I mean, he was being just as ridiculous as you were... Why not play his little games?

That's what he wanted, right? For you to play along?

From your recent actions, you could tell it was inducing him to fight back. However, you knew of his position in the team―a captain at that. He didn't want to outwardly rally back, knowing it would cause drama.

You did have that power, after all.

The boy gritted his teeth aggressively, letting out an ominous chuckle.

"Welcome to the Inarizaki Volleyball Club then. The names Kita."
