What Now-A Fight? (Rewritten)

"The shinobi world is over," a croaking voice stated as a spark flashed in front of my eyes.

When the spark disappeared I was able to look around and see my surroundings. I could see smoke in the sky and rubble in the ground. 'Where am I?' I wondered to myself.

It took a minute to realize that I wasn't standing on the ground but rather on the Hokage mountain of a very destroyed Hidden Leaf Village. "What's going on here," I asked myself as I could feel my chest heaving at the destruction around me.

Putting my arm on my heaving chest I tried to calm down. But it was hard as I could hear the clashing of metal nearby. I noticed the sound of metal clashing, and it was very close this time. Looking around I could see two people battling on the mountain.

I scolded myself as I never noticed this but it didn't matter as I tried to get as far away from here as possible but I couldn't move an inch. I tried to move but no matter how hard I tried, I failed at the simple act of moving. It was as if I was chained and that I can't move, or that something is showing me something.

I had a gut feeling on the second intuition as I felt more attracted to spectating the battle. Spectating the battle, I gave a good look at both the fighters. One person wore baggy pants, a white shirt, and a black coat. One noticeable thing I noticed about him was that he had red tattoo patterns on his left arm.

I turned and looked at the second fighter. He seemed to be on the short-side one as he was nearly my height. He wore black shorts with a single white stripe, a white shirt, and above it a blue jacket. But this person was more interesting as the only human feature on him was his skull. Every part of his body that's visible to me is pure bone. 'As if he's a skeleton beneath those clothes,' I thought to myself.

Looking at the skeleton and the other person I could tell that they had some history. The skeleton was smiling but the other one kept frowning and his eyes showed anger. And the skeleton didn't miss the message as his smile faltered a little bit. So the skeleton spoke, "Did you have to take it that far?"

"I will take you to where I took lord 7th,"

The random person ignored the skeleton's question as his tattoo pattern began to glow and shift until it ended with a pike above his eye. The skeleton frowned at this as a blue glowing mark also spread up above his eye as well. While it was doing so, the skeleton grabbed a Hidden Leaf headband and tied it to his forehead.

"Even so," the skeleton commented as he finished tying the headband, "I am a shinobi."

Both fighters got into a stance, then launched at each other ready for a fight for their lives. I felt excited to see the fight play out but suddenly my vision flashed continued to do so until I could barely see anything. Looking around I could see that the flashes turned my surroundings white and that I felt that I was falling. I felt helpless in the situation and eye closed my eyes and prepared for the worse but it never came.

*gasp*

My eyes open suddenly and saw that I was in my room. I could feel my chest heave from my panicking breaths, so I quickly sat up and slowly calmed down. 'What happened?' I asked myself, putting my hand over my eye to soothe my headache.

My eyes widened as I noticed my hand covering my eye. I pulled it back and nearly screamed as my hand was a skeleton. My vision blurred at what I was seeing, my hand a skeleton. That is impossible, why is my hand a skeleton?

In fact, why is my leg a skeleton as well? Looking at my leg, it too was all bone. Not only that but I now noticed that my whole body was a skeleton. I sighed in annoyance as I tried to remember how this happened, but my memory came up black on this.

I grabbed my bed and tried to stand and succeeded in doing so. Standing tall and proud of my accomplishments, I twisted my body to get a good look at myself. I twisted too much as I staggered and fell on my butt.

"Ow," I mumbled to myself.

I stood up again and was about to head to my door until I grabbed my head in pain as the memories flooded back. Yes, the memories of last night and my painful transformation. I felt tears well up in my eye but I had no time to cry. I stumbled my way to my pantry and took out a handheld mirror.

Before I looked at the mirror, I looked around my room admiring the dark-blue color instead of my usual color. I placed the mirror in front of my head before dropping it in shock. What I saw was my head as a skeleton and on my right socket was only a bright blue iris while my other eye was a shining white dot.

"Jougan," I mumbled.

I don't know why but I understood how to use this 'Jougan' as I deactivated it and everything around me became a normal color. I smiled at this, I have a dojutsu that no one knows and I can use it to my advantage. 'But what will my parents and friends think about this,' I asked myself, eyeing my skeleton arm.

I frowned at the thought of my friends and family. After a long discussion with myself, I finally decided on one thing. "I must hide this from them for as long as I can," I promised myself, clenching my hands in determination.

*knock, knock*

"Boruto," a meek voice called out beyond the door, "breakfast is ready."

I knew who it was, and I knew that I had to do something. If I don't respond, she'll get curious and barge in. So I answered whatever came to mind, "Uh... sounds great, I'll be there in a bit."

I never heard a knock nor answer, which made me sigh in relief. Looking at my attire I could see no stains so I decided that I was going to wear the same thing yesterday. But before I could leave I had to apply a jutsu I learned in the academy, the 'Henge'.

Making the appropriate hand signs for the Henge along with applying chakra into my body, I could see smoke emerge around me. When the smoke cleared, I smirked in relief that I looked like my 'normal' self again with skin around me. Sucks that it feels like nothing and another downside to it is that if I take damage the Henge would disperse, so I have to be careful out there.

Through all that, I noticed my legs were steady and back to normal, meaning that I could walk and run normally without falling. I walked toward the door, opened it, peeked both sides of the hallway, and once it was clear I headed downstairs for the dining area.

Entering downstairs, I could see my little sister, Himawari, and my mother. Himawari was prepping the table as my mother was finalizing her dish. I smiled as the recent events have got me starving. With vigor, I rushed and took a seat.

They greeted me a good morning, which I returned, and went back to their activities before sitting down. My mother handed me a plate of breakfast and I immediately ate. I could hear them chuckle at my ferocity, making me blush in response.

After finishing eating, I waved my mother and sister goodbye, grabbed my backpack and ran out the front door, and jumped around the rooftops towards the Academy. While jumping I couldn't help myself as I thought back to the events of last night, 'Did all of this happen? If so then why? And my does my stomach feel crappy?'

I clenched my stomach from the sudden cramp making me miss a jump and painfully crash to a wall then fall to the floor of an alleyway. 'Ow,' I cried to myself painfully. I slowly got up, still clenching my stomach.

The cramps became worse to the point that I couldn't hold them in anymore. I ran to a nearby wall and puked. When I was done, I cringed to myself as I looked at the contents. It wasn't all mushy but the breakfast I ate.

Standing straight, I took a peek at myself and was surprised to see that my Henge dispersed. "Oh man," I mumbled to myself as I was reapplying the jutsu again.

Ten minutes later, I could see myself walking around the village until I finally saw the Academy. I sighed in relief at the sight of the building, along with not being late. I walked to my class and waited for another boring day to start.

Time skip

I let out a yawn before taking a bite out of my sandwich. It was good, but had a blandish taste, but was making me tired more. Looking around I noticed my friends staring at me in confusion. I rose an eyebrow, asking about their look.

"Hey Boruto, you seem tired," Inojin asked.

"Yeah, I guess so,"

"Anything on your mind?"

"Uh... the test," I answered.

Inojin nodded as he thought that I spent an all-nighter studying for the test. Even I never did that as I remember vaguely that I was on the floor writhing in pain. But that doesn't matter now, does it?

"Who do you think will get the highest score on it?"

Turning to the voice only to see my other pal, Shikadai. He was already finished with his lunch then as he was currently laying slightly back. 'Lazy per usual Shikadai,' I commented to myself.

After hearing Shikadai's question on getting the highest score on the test, the lunch table erupted in chatter. Everyone left and right placing bets on who gets the highest test score, the house being Shikadai, and agreeing to a prize on the winner. Everyone decided to buy one expensive thing and decided to go Dutch, placing some of their money to pay.

I smirked at my friends' antics but they disappeared as I heard a sigh along with a comment, "Typical. Always going crazy with simple tests,"

I turned behind me and eyed Sarada Uchiha and gave her a shrug, answering for my friends. She huffed and returned with her conversation with her group of girls. "So diverse," I whispered, letting out a chuckle.

I made my excuse and got up. I left the cafeteria and was now walking around in the hallways. Suddenly I felt a familiar feeling in my stomach. I felt cramps after and it was worse than last time. Luckily there was a bathroom nearby as I rushed through and stopped inside a stall, puking in the toilet.

Reeling back, I whimpered as I eyed the contents. Again like earlier the puke came out whole, revealing a slimy sandwich that I recently ate. 'What is going on?' I questioned myself.

"Why is this happening?" I asked myself. But deep down I had nothing that could answer this question. But it came to me. Looking at myself, I noticed that my Henge was gone and I was back to my skeleton self.

'Skeleton...'

Is it because that I am a skeleton that I can't process human foods. The more I thought of it, the more it seems to fit as the answer as I am a skeleton now. But does this mean that I can't eat human food anymore? Does this mean that I'll constantly starve until I die?

"No, no, no," I tried calming myself which worked by a little.

'Calm down now. Maybe we can figure this out after the day ends.'

I nodded with my reasoning. Getting up, I applied my Henge again. I flushed the toilet, don't want anyone to see this poor site, and left the stall.

Exiting the restroom, I quickly ran towards my classroom. Entering it, I stared at the absence of people in the class, all except for one. There was a slightly taller kid laying in a row of chairs, one of which happens to be mine. My eye furrowed at the sight in front of me making me approach him.

"Wake up dude!" I yelled.

He gasped in shock and sat up with a sweat. He turned towards me, eyes twitching, snarl etching on his face, and got up. He stood in front of me, eyeing me. I did the same and here we are, sizing each other up.

He scowled and stated, "You woke me up."

"Doesn't matter, you were in my spot."

"You think I care?"

"With you crying about it, then yes."

He walked close to me and then leaned in close to my face. I narrowed my eyes at him. He moved back before walking out of class. Not until stating before leaving, "You and me, after school we're going to fight."

He then walked away, leaving me alone in the silent, empty classroom. I sighed in annoyance as I now have to deal with the idiot after school. Good thing no one saw nor heard what happened.

"What was that all about?"

'Dang it,' I grumbled to myself. I turned to my friend Shikadai who was leaning on the doorway. Leaning to the side, I could see more people behind him, all conversing and whispering about what happened.

"It's nothing." I quickly answered.

"Yeah, getting into a fight with Iwabe sure isn't nothing." Shikadai retorted.

'So that's his name,' I wondered.

"Iwabe?" I questioned.

"Iwabe is the oldest academy student. Did you not know that?"

"No, I must have not," I answered nonchalantly.

I turned around, walked to my spot, and sat down as I watched Shikadai and the majority of the class enter. Some were eyeing me and others ignored me and went to their spots. After everyone came in, Iwabe himself entered the class. He was eying me as he walked to his seat. With a sigh, I went back to brooding, ignoring the whispers around the class.

I felt a tap on my shoulder. Looking to who tapped my should was my friend Denki and behind him was Shikadai along with Inojin. Denki had a nervous expression as he was looking at me. He took a seat next to mine and began to ask questions.

"What happened with you and Iwabe?"

"It was that he was sleeping on my chair. So I made him leave." I whispered, leaning near Denki's ear.

"But now you have to fight him after school," Denki added.

"I could back out, and no one would care," I responded.

"Even if you do, Iwabe's still going to get after you if you bail on this." Denki objected.

I rose my hand toward my chin, thinking about the situation. With what Denki stating about Iwabe and his consistency, along with Iwabe eying me all the time, I began to feel that there was no escape to this one.

"Do I have a choice?" I asked, looking at Denki.

"No, you don't. Even before we came back from lunch. We could hear Iwabe curse you out. Yeah, there's no escape on this one." Denki answered.

I leaned back in my chair and sighed in the air. When I finished I could feel a grin make its way to my mouth. "Boruto why are you grinning?" Denki asked, nervously laughing.

I looked at him, a grin etched in my mouth, before answering, "Because I have a plan. So don't worry I got this."

I turned back forward this time waving my hand towards him, letting him know that I don't want to continue this. Denki reluctantly left, along with Shikadai and Inojin, leaving me sitting in my seat with a crazed smile.

'Yeah I got this,' I thought to myself.

Time skip

'I don't got this!' I yelled on the inside, dodging a huge stone that was coming in my direction.

"Come on, I thought you had this!" Iwabe yelled out. On the other side of the Academy's training ground was Iwabe, holding a metal pole, launching boulders in my direction. He had a manic grin on his face as he launched more boulders.

As I was jumping left and right, I could see a pattern in the volleys of boulders. Taking my chance I jumped forward to the volley. Iwabe's eyes rose in confusion but never lost his composure. And soon enough I was in front of Iwabe. I leaped about the last boulder, landed on it, and used to propel myself towards him.

We stared at each other as we clashed while I was still in midair. We stood our ground, our teethes grinding. I jumped back a little before jumping forward and hitting his stomach. He coughed before responding with a left hook.

I blocked it, then kicked him back. He flew back a few feet until his back ran into the wall. I could hear cheering from above the wall. Looking up I could see a set of bleachers, most of which were full of my classmates.

I looked back towards Iwabe only to see him in front of me, reeling a punch. I quickly rose my arms and blocked the flurry of punches. 'Damn,' I thought as I could feel my Henge starting to fail.

He suddenly stopped punching me. Curious, I looked past my arms only to find Iwabe swinging his metal pole. He struck my arms, launching me across the training grounds until I crashed on the wall. A cloud of dust puffed around me, covering me.

I groaned out as I slowly pushed myself off the wall that I was currently embedded too. After successfully releasing myself, I felt my vision changed. Looking around, I noticed a cyan-colored heart inside my chest... or rib cage.

I shrugged my shoulders only to wince in pain as my arms felt broken. 'At least I'm not dead,' I thought to myself before looking inside my rib cage, 'maybe I can take hits like normal people, but I maybe should not let anyone hit my heart.'

Looking back to the bleachers was a colorful sight for me. I could see Iwabe with a brownish heart within him. Looking over him, I could see each of my classmates' hearts, each with a different color.

'No, I don't think those are your regular hearts,' I pondered before continuing, 'I think they are souls. I don't know how or why but I know they are souls,'

I looked over each classmate's soul until I stopped at Sarada's. Her soul was red, but her look and posture. Her eyes were furrowed as she was gripping the rails in front of the bleachers. I smirked to myself, 'Maybe she does care about me after all.'

After rolling my shoulders, and activating my Henge, I summoned three shadow clones then I went forward, stalking towards Iwabe. It was that I was nearly five feet from Iwabe was that I let out a cry as I rushed behind him, above me did my shadow clones jump in. He looked back in total surprise as I quickly sent a punch to his stomach. I rose my fist toward the sky and launched Iwabe. When Iwabe launched toward the sky did my shadow clones attack. Two of which did they punch him before the last one kicked him down to the ground.

Looking at Iwabe, I concluded that he wouldn't be getting up from the combo. I turned around toward the crowd and gave them a cheerful wave as they noticed that I won. Some students dropped down from the bleachers as they began to crowd me. They began to congratulate me, along with asking questions about how I beat Iwabe.

I chuckled in response before a booming voice interrupted everyone's voices, "What is going on here!'

Looking behind my classmates did I see Shino-sensei. He had his arms crossed along with tapping his fingers impatiently. 'This is going to be a long day,' I thought to myself.

I didn't go home until late afternoon, due to detention.

A/N: Second chapter rewritten, hope you enjoyed. Now it is very late and I need to study tomorrow for my med class.
