Testing my Limits (Rewritten)

It was midnight, and it was cold. Looking at my clock I could groan as it did prove that it was midnight. I tried, and wanted, to continue sleeping, but I couldn't. With a sigh, I got up and put on my clothes. Quietly, I opened my room door and proceeded to head downstairs to the kitchen. After a full day of not eating, I sure was hungry. But as I discovered, I can't eat food anymore... can I?

Walking down the stairs, I was glad that I didn't hear any shuffling upstairs which told me that no one was awake. With a cheeky grin, I made my way to the kitchen. More specifically the fridge.

For ten minutes I have tried every food contained in the fridge. I would taste it, then puke it up in the sink, rinse it down, and gently put the food back before I could throw it across the room in a fit of rage. What's worse is that the smell was intoxicating, which made me want to puke whatever I could summon in my mouth.

'But that's impossible. But I am a skeleton, and I don't have taste buds as it seems.' I thought to myself, carefully putting away another item in its rightful place in the fridge.

When all seemed lost, I closed the fridge, walked to a kitchen counter, and slid on it to the floor. I let out a huff of frustration and then it escalated into sobs. I continued to cry as I also began to wonder how I was able to produce tears.

The crying stopped as I went back into the fridge. With a quick whiff, I could smell something that isn't intoxicating and wanting me to puke some more down the drain. Sticking my hand in the fridge, and finding the source, I finally pulled out what seemed to be a bottle of ketchup.

'Ok, what the hell is this?' I questioned myself as I inspected the bottle.

With a shrug, I twisted the cap open and gave a swig of the contents, closed the cap, then waited. For five minutes, nothing happened. So I waited for another five. Nothing. Five minutes became ten minutes, then fifteen minutes.

After that, I was stunned that nothing had happened to me. I looked at the ketchup, and with vigor, I tore the cap off again and drank the contents. If I had a tongue I would have licked the rest inside the bottle, but I don't so I stopped when the ketchup finished pouring. I gave a huge sigh of satisfaction as I felt that I could survive a week without eating again, although it would not be advisable.

With newfound energy, I decided that I needed to stretch my legs and find out what my powers are. So being quiet as usual, I left the house. After a few minutes, I found myself within my friends' clan forest.

'This is a good spot,' I wondered to myself.

Looking around the forest, I let out a breath as I remembered the times I would play here with Shikadai when we were kids. Those were the days.

Continuing my walk, I finally found myself in an open area surrounded by trees and boulders. I nodded to myself as I knew this was the perfect place to test my limits. So I looked at a tree and hoped for something to happen. Sadly nothing did.

I grew annoyed and thought hard for the tree to just burn in hell. Suddenly a white beam shot past my head, then landed on the tree trunk, breaking it in half. Looking at who, or what shot the beam only to find a floating skeleton head. It just looked at me and deep down I knew it wouldn't attack me so the only thing I did was wave at it. It suddenly disappeared after that, which made me yell out an aw.

'That was interesting,' I thought to myself.

This time I looked at another tree and thought about the same thing for it, though not verbatim, and boom. A white beam passed me and the tree fell, destroyed. Looking back again, I could see the same head that shot the beam floating there and then puffed out of existence.

I seemed to get the idea in my head, the next victim, being a tree again, earned a barrage. The tree didn't stand a chance as it meekly fell to the ground. This made me excited, "Oh man that is awesome!"

I turned my attention to a boulder that was sitting idly. So with a grin, I thought about the skeleton heads destroying the boulder-like they did to the trees. Again, this time they appeared in front and beside me, shot the boulder, then disappeared. Looking back to the boulder, I could see it steaming from the beams as it sat there destroyed.

'Ok, I think I got the gist of this,' I thought to myself as I covered my left eye for a moment.

Focusing my chakra into my right eye, I began to see the world turn darkish blue. I began to take in the area around me as it was new to me now that I could focus on it. Remembering something, I looked down to my chest, gazing at my cyan-colored soul.

I knew that everyone's soul was different, as to what I saw at the training ground. But I didn't know what the soul colors represent. But it was still amazing for me.

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see another soul behind a bush. I jumped in fright, as a deer peered out of the bush. The only scary thing about it was that it was bigger than me.

Getting into a defensive stance, I waited for the deer to charge. But within my mind, I realized that this was the leader of the Nara Clan's deer, an alpha. I slowly begin to walk away, trying to avoid a pummeling. But the deer charged at me.

With a yelp, I rose my arms to protect myself. The deer pushed through my arms then used its antlers to launch me into the air until I crashed into a tree and landed face-first into the dirt. Sitting upright, I faced the deer as it charged at me again.

Instinctively, I rose my hands towards the deer with a 'stop' gesture. The deer suddenly stopped in its track as it began to struggle out of an invisible hand gripping it. I slowly moved my hand and the deer moved as well.

With a grin, I flung my hand and watch the deer fly. Unconsciously, I lifted my fingers as well and a row of bones appeared and impaled the deer. There was no blood, but the deer howled in pain. Luckily, I noticed what my fingers did, so I did some random movement with them and the bones disappeared.

I stood up straight and then let go of the deer. The deer did a take on me and with wobbly legs, it ran off. I grinned as I won this battle. But with a wobble as well I began to leave the forest, not wanting to fight anything possibly bigger than the deer.

After a few minutes of walking around, I gave up as I knew that I was lost. Looking around I could tell that I passed the same tree four times at least. With a sigh, I thought to myself, 'Man what do I do? I wish I was home right now,'

When I thought of going home, I suddenly found myself in my house. I looked around in stunned silence as I didn't know if this was real or fake. I chuckled as I walked around the living room until I found myself at the bottom of the stairs.

Reaching the top, I had to cover my 'ears' as I passed my parents' room. I could hear them moan out their names, which urged me to walk faster until I entered my room.

Closing and locking my door, I turned to look over my room, all while feeling good about my training results recently.

I took my shirt off and let out a sigh of content as I felt the cold air pass through my ribs. I then got to bed, reliving my fight. The surprise from being confronted by the deer, then suddenly flying as the deer charged at me. Until I was pummeling the deer.

I looked at my clock and noticed that it was pretty late. So with one final stretch of my body, I finally closed my eyes and then had a dream that I will never forget.

Boruto's Dream

"Boruto-o"

'What?'

"Boruto," the voice called out again, but this time it was clearer.

Boruto looked around as he could see white all around him. He tensed up as he didn't know what to expect, which scared him. But suddenly, he found himself on a mountain top, which was oddly familiar to the Hokage mountain. In front of him was a village that was destroyed but was slowly rebuilding. And behind him was a lush forest. This began to calm Boruto; then the same voice called out again.

"Boruto, Boruto"

Suddenly a hand touched Boruto's shoulder. With a yelp, Boruto turned around quickly and gazed upon the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

She was standing a foot taller than Boruto, which made him huddle closer to himself. This made the woman chuckle as she moved closer to Boruto. With her hand, she reached and caressed his cheekbone.

Boruto looked up at her, mesmerized by her black hair as it grew past her shoulders. She wore red glasses, and a red robe with black markings on them as well but Boruto couldn't make out what they said.

"Are you alright, after that time when you changed?" she asked cryptically.

Without a beat, Boruto answered, not caring that she could hear him or not, or maybe respond to him at all.

"No, I don't think I will," Boruto answered.

"But you will," she soothed, pulling Boruto to her chest.

Boruto didn't resist as he leaned into her, feeling her warmth, and he couldn't stop himself from hugging her.

"I know you will. Do you want to why?" she vaguely asked.

Boruto shook his head, leaning more into her.

"Because you helped me. You showed me, your friends, and your family your true self. Which in turn, helped them and me," She stated.

Looking up at her, I could see her staring at me lovingly and her eyes turned red with three tomoe in a circle.

"Sarada?" Boruto asked suddenly.

"Yes," she whispered.

"I-I don't think I could ever tell them about me. What will they think of me?"

"They will think nothing of you. They'll be surprised that's for sure," she chided.

Boruto couldn't help but smile at Sarada's cheerful personality. It sure was different than the current Sarada he deals with at the academy.

"Besides, it never stopped me from loving you," was that Sarada said as she kissed Boruto's forehead.

Boruto didn't know why, but he began to cry uncontrollably. Sarada rocked him and gently led him to the ground, Boruto's head on her lap. She soothed him with her voice and rubbed his head, gently calming him. That was the last thing Boruto remembered as everything from then turned white.
