Change of Looks (Rewritten)

Morning

My eyes fluttered open from the rays of the sun shining through my window. Cursing its existence as I sat up on my bed. I shivered as I felt cold air pass through my bare chest, which I just noticed.

Putting on the same dirty clothes from last night, I went downstairs toward the living area but not after I activated my Henge. When I arrived at the living room, I then made my way to the dining area where I spotted my family having breakfast. I had no choice but to join them as I ate some eggs with some meat. When I finished with my breakfast, which I knew I would puke out later, I quickly placed the dishes away and waited at the front door.

"Wait Boruto, let us go shopping together," My mom's voice suggested from behind.

Seeing my whole family behind, all ready and packed, I knew that I wouldn't deny their request. With I sigh, I nodded to them as I opened the door and left the house with my family behind me.

Around 30 minutes later, we soon found ourselves in the marketplace. Looking around in the stands, I could see multiple people selling items, each for a specific purpose. I also had a comedic moment as my mom urged me onward as I was eying a book series, popularly known as 'Icha Icha Paradise,'.

'That's a bummer,' I thought to myself as I did want to buy to book, but with the stern look, my mom gave me, maybe it was best to leave it. We soon stopped as I walked past a store that was selling clothes. This caught my eye as I entered the store.

After a quick, friendly exchange of greetings with the store's cashier did I explored the entrances of clothes. But something caught my eye, so I turned to the source. And I hummed as I eyed a blue hoodie. Seeing my white shirt under my dirty black jacket did I know that this will fit well. Grabbing it, I continued to explore.

As I continued my exploration of the store, I could get a glimpse of Himawari with mom, and dad, enjoy some ice cream. With a sigh, I began to feel down on myself.

I quickly forgot about them as I shuffled deeper into the store. Somehow, as I was walking past a pair of pants, did I see black shorts with white stripes running down to the bottom. Eying the price tag, I was surprised to see how cheap the shirts were, so why not keep it then.

Taking the shorts, I, once again, continued to look around the store. A nearly tripped as I gazed at a pair of pink slippers. 'They look comfortable,' I mumbled to myself, taking the pair.

Heading up to the cashier where I paid and went to the nearby changing room. As I was changing into my new attire did I appreciate the feel of the new clothes. The softness brushed up my bones as I was in my, now, original form inside, but I knew that no one would peek. And it felt good wiggling my toes when I sheathed the slippers. When I came out, with my Henge activated, did I like my new look. It shows what I am, not literally but you get what I mean.

Walking out of the store, I spotted my family, causing me to run to where they were. Doing so, I noticed how natural my slippers were as I commented to myself. I then skidded to a stop in front of them.

I blushed as my mom did a double-take on my appearance, where she smiled and commented, "You look good Boruto,"

"Yeah you have to agree with your mom," my dad responded, reaching around her waist and pulling her close. This made her squeal a bit and blushed. I sighed at their public display.

"Come on now, I don't want to hear it. Especially from you dad,' I mumbled.

"Aw, why not?" my dad teased, knowing that I rather avoid the attention.

"Whatever, let's get going," I urged as we continued our walk to where ever we wanted to go.

We stopped once again as a nearby store drew my parent's attention. I decided that I'll stay behind and wait for them. So off they went as they looked around for anything to spend. Now here I am, alone in the middle of the street.

Looking around I noticed that there were fewer people here now that the afternoon rush had probably died down. With that info in my head and having no use, I simply stared at the sky and enjoyed the breeze as I could feel it brush past my bony body under my Henge.

"Hey there," A voice called out.

Turning in the direction of the voice did I grin as I saw who it was. That being Shikadai with his parents behind him.

"Hey man," I responded.

"Very good, I like the new look on you. At least it doesn't make you more of a..."

I knew what Shikadai was going to say and his mom knew as well when she slapped the back of his head.

"Try using that language near me. I dare you," Temari, his mother, dared. I stepped back, chuckling at Shikadai's predicament. 'Serves you right,' I chuckled to myself.

While I was busy chuckling to myself, my parents made themselves known as they exited the store and began to greet Shikadai's parents. Reaching his hand out, my dad greeted Shikadai's dad.

"Hey, how's it going?"

"Not much man. I and my family are getting some healing supplies," Shikamaru replied.

"For what?"

"The alpha deer got its ass kicked last night. Now I don't know who or what but that deer is mad," Shikamaru chuckled at the end.

When he finished explaining, I shrunk back a little. I didn't feel guilty at all, but having the Nara clan go get medicine on a day like this was a bummer. I smiled again as I walked forward as we both greeted one another. After a while, we soon had to go separate ways.

As we walked through the crowded street, Himawari soon gasped and stopped in front of a flower shop. Looking at the store bearing a 'Yamanaka Flower Shop', I knew that a friend of mine should be inside.

Entering inside, I could see two rows of plants and flowers all contained in different pots. Stepping forward I saw my parents greet one of their friends wearing a purple skirt with a purple top. I soon turned as a voice called out to me. I then smiled as I saw Inojin walk towards me.

I waved at him with one hand before looking back towards the group of four. Seeing this, Inojin had something swell up in his mind. Finally sculpting it to perfection, Inojin asked me a question.

"You eying something Boruto?"

"Well she sticks out like a sore thumb," I taunted in return.

Inojin gasped and he playfully punched my arm, not enough to dispel my Henge. I then continued our conversation until Himawari looked around and asked Ino for some flowers. Ino did so immediately, gushing over how cute Himawari has become. This made me smirk.

It went away as Inojin also went up and presented a painting to her. He did so while hiding a blush. I acted quickly as I pulled him aside where we then argued about the whole ordeal. I soon finished the argument as that he ever does something again near her, he'll have a bad time.

After that, I soon left along with my family.

While my family was walking home, my parents and Himawari soon stopped to eat at a place called 'Yakiniku Q'.

'Seems average on the inside and out. But might as well try,' I mumbled to myself, knowing that I can't eat any food anymore.

Entering the restaurant, I could see my classmates, Chocho and Sarada with their parents.

"Hey there!" my dad called out.

"Hey there Naruto. Would you like to eat with us?" Chocho's dad, Choji, asked.

Who wouldn't decline an offer, was what I thought but we all agreed nonetheless. Now we were sitting at a table eating and talking with one another. Meanwhile, me, Sarada, and Chocho were sitting on the corner in silence. More like I was the silent one.

Once more food arrived the table did everyone ate in peace along with the occasional small talk. Unfortunately, I had to eat to avoid suspicion but the urge was coming quickly. So I excused myself and rushed to the restroom where I did my business.

Again my Henge dispelled after I was done. 'Man I have to find a way to make my Henge stronger so it can withstand myself puking all the time,' I thought as I used the Henge and went back to the table.

Once sitting down did Sarada speak to me, "Has anyone told you that you look good in that new look,"

"Yeah, quite the looker you are Boruto," Chocho added.

This brought the attention of the other attendants at the table and now they were all talking about it. I sighed in annoyance so I bared through the torture until we all left.

Deep down as I think about it, I felt warm when Sarada complimented me. It was nice to see something change from her. But I put those thoughts away as we soon arrived at the house. Once entering I went to my room and locked it.

I felt sleepy from the recent activities of today. So I got myself in a relaxed position and dispelled my Henge. Once doing so, I began to look around my skeleton arms. I sighed in sadness as I thought about that night and my curse.

I moved my gaze to the dull diamond mark on my palm. 'This is the Karma mark?' I thought as I recollected what the voice told me from that night. Soon moved my arms as I placed them behind my head as my head was full of questions.

But deep down, I knew that these questions would be answered soon.
