Chapter 16 Similar yet different world

Arthur had successfully reached his destination. He thanked the pilots and left to the city. He touched his pocket and took out 15 dollars which he got from John.

" Really nice guy. No one would believe in such a cliche."

He went to the bus station and waited for the bus. Obviously, he forgot about American transportation system weakness.

1 hour later

Arthur was looking at the sun and guessing time. He knew about his mistakes.

" Damn it, I should have gone with that military truck."

Beep*

Finally, the bus came to the station. Arthur sighed.

" What a surprise!"

He went into the bus and paid 5 bucks. The driver didn't mind it.

Beep*

The bus went to Sacramento.

1 hour later.

He came before the public library as he initially thought it was the best idea. Arthur was sure that this world has a unique history. He checked his remaining money and walked into the library. It was a nice building with 3 stories. He went to the reception disk.

The librarian looked at Arthur with a smile.

" Hi, how may I help you?"

Arthur found it very nice because USA's one of the biggest weakness was in the service field.

He smiled back and said with a polite tone.

" Hello, there. I am looking for the history books."

The librarian didn't think much as she said politely.

" You can find them at 24. Keep in mind that you have to double the price, if you damage the books."

Arthur nodded and turned back. He saw the shelf numbers on top of the shelves.

" Let's 24,24. Ah, there it is."

He walked to the 24th shelf and scanned through the books.

" Hmm, this won't do. This should work and this looks good too."

He picked up two particular books which were History of the world and War days.

Arthur opened the history books and flipped through the page. Surprisingly, most of the contents were same until he saw the peculiar headline.

" Soviet Union invasion? What do you mean that?"

Arthur immediately felt puzzled as he looked at the contents. The more he read, more his face became weirder. He couldn't accept that Hitler was somehow assassinated and Stalin started the war. Impressively, he almost conquered the Europe.

Arthur was absorbed into the book. He carefully read the contents and stories.

" This is incredible. Soviet actually attacked Allies and Axis couldn't achieve a single victory?"

Arthur once again holed himself and read the whole book in an hour.

Close*

Arthur closed the book and took a deep breath. He organized his thoughts and pondered silently.

" Guess I have found my answer."

Arthur shifted his gaze to the remaining book. He picked it up and directly skipped to the ww2 chapter. He read the book with a serious look as he tried to grasp the unknown informations from it.

8 pm

Arthur closed the book and got up from his seat. He cleaned up the table and put the books on the shelf. He stared at the time and found it was a time to leave. He looked at his money and shook his head.

" 10 bucks won't do the job. Guess, I have to make money first."

He went to the reception desk and found the librarian. She was reading a book about martial arts. Arthur found it quite amusing as he looked at the contents.

" This book is inaccurate, miss. Assassins do care about themselves even though they prioritize the mission first."

Librarian looked at Arthur with interest. She had never seen a man like Arthur.

" So, do you know about them?"

Arthur coughed and said gently.

" Of course. May I?"

Librarian nodded at him. She was curious about Arthur's movement.

Arthur picked up the pen and spinned it around his finger. He pointed at the clock as he was saying it was his target.

Crack*

The pen hit the time in the middle. It accurately destroyed the clock, but it didn't fell down.

Librarian looked at Arthur with amazement. She asked with curiosity.

" Sir, have you trained yourself before?"

Arthur nodded.

" I am a knight."

Librarian chuckled.

" Then Mr. Knight, I am Tanya. Nice to meet you."
