Chapter 21 Invasion

It was another nice day for Arthur. He was tinkering his gadgets and recording down the details with a satisfied look. It was a jet black pistol with sharp looking design. It was beautiful and deadly because it used a new principle of the technology.

" The coil is the biggest disadvantage in the modern arms. Of course, bullets are hindrance too. Hence, you need to dispose them."

Type.96 is a powerful pistol with high speed and penetrating power because it uses energy. As long as it had energy, it can instantly shoot infinitely. However, it had a major problem. It was heating problem.

The gun's structure had maximum anti heat technology, yet it heats up like a pan after 10 minutes of continuous shooting. This sounds great, but Arthur knew it will be troublesome in the warfare.

Pistol can't penetrate armored units even with laser, but it was deadly for the infantry. However, it was too expensive and impractical for modern war just like Bruce's gadgets. Hence, Arthur had created for himself while sharing blueprints to the military.

Arthur nodded and took the gun. He felt something wasn't quite right.

" Um, where is my coffee again? Tanya, where are you?"

He forgot about her. He looked up to the clock and it was already 10 o'clock. Arthur frowned and took out his phone to call her.

Buzz*

He couldn't do that. He commanded.

" Star, has Tanya registered her ID today?"

Star replied with a mechanical voice. He wasn't like original Star which had satellites and internet. It was purely made of basic 3g ( Arthur had made 3g database in the laboratory) and archives from the government.

" Negative. She didn't come here today."

Arthur rubbed his chin and got up from his chair. He neatly folded his coat and placed it on desk.

" It seems that I have to fetch my own coffee."

Arthur walked towards the exit with a carefree expression. He looked nice like usual and workers greeted him on his way.

Vera shouted.

" Art, where are you going?"

Arthur said loudly.

" Gonna grab some coffee, want some?"

Vera nodded.

" Americano please. Oh Murray says he wants latte."

Arthur waved and went to the exit. He pressed his thumb and went out from the laboratory.

Ding*

He walked towards the elevator and went in.

Press*

He pressed first floor button and hummed a song.

Ding*

The elevator had reached the first floor. Arthur walked outside and found something was unusual because the guards were looking pale. He frowned and asked with a serious voice.

" What happened?"

The guard looked back and saw Arthur. He saluted and said with a terrified look.

" Sir, the war has started. We got news from headquarters."

Arthur sighed because he knew this day would come. He calmly patted his shoulder and went back to the elevator.

Ding*

He went to the lab floor and scanned his ID again.

The staffs were puzzled by his sudden return. One of the assistants asked with respect.

" Sir, is everything alright?"

Arthur knew his face didn't look good. He went to the podium and pressed a red button under it.

Siren*

The siren went off and all members were gathered in the center. Einstein asked.

" What happened, Arthur?"

Arthur took a deep breath and said calmly.

" Soviet has invaded the US. I suspect that they are attacking other allied nations too."

The staffs thought thus was a joke until they saw Arthur's serious face. His face was serious and cold. This is the first time they had seen this kind of face from him.

Vera folded her arms and said lightly.

" If that is true, then we are in a trouble. Soviet must have known our location."

Arthur nodded.

" Of course, they are priorities should be nuclear silos and our labs."

John agreed with her.

" That means they will attack our base too. This is gonna be troublesome. We have a few guards because our laboratory is hidden well, but it will be matter of time before they find us."

Murray sighed.

" So, what is the plan?"

Arthur sighed and said helplessly.

" We have to wait for military. Tanya should be here soon."

Einstein teased him.

" Ohoho, your girlfriend is indeed a faithful person."
