Chapter 5 Chaos strikes

Arthur walked through the corridor with a cold face, feeling iffy because it was awkwardly similar to the horror stories. Although leaving them wasn't a bad idea, there was certainly a fishy thing in the site that was able to free the anomalies from their cages.

" Ugh, I am going crazy about this. Who would do such a horrible thing? It shouldn't be an anomaly."

Arthur mumbled, trying to guess the identity of the perpetrators. Obviously, the foundation had a lot of enemies, so one of them must have infiltrated the site and released it when the staff let their guard down.

" Don't think hard, we are close to the control room. As long as we can turn on the light, we will find a way to correct this."

Johnheart said, frowning with a serious look on his face. He knew the culprits were around somewhere, so he was trying to start up the electricity and bring the reinforcement to the area quickly before anything happens to them.

The captain nodded at their words while observing the area with a calm gaze, thinking there might be an ambush around here somewhere since the control room was the biggest threat to the culprits. If somehow they manage to bring the lights up, the culprits would be facing the elite squads of the foundation. Therefore, it was their biggest goal to keep it safe until they wreak havoc here.

He pressed the security card on the check, slowly hiding behind the door to shelter himself from the surprise attack. He gestured for his two men to check behind the wall with caution and took the rear to protect themselves from the attack.

Surprisingly, the inside was empty like earlier which brought more pressure on them. They didn't understand the reason for this strange situation because even the anomalies would kill them, there should be at least a blood stain or something like that here, but there was none.

" Strange, why can't I spot them? It is logical to be here since other areas are hazardous."

Captain said, not figuring out their minds while racking his brain with his best, but there wasn't a single reason for this outrageous situation. He even questioned whether they were mental or not.

" Strange, indeed. Well, our primary purpose isn't about them. We need to restart the system. Arthur, it is your turn."

Johnheart said, handing his idea card with a slight embarrassment because he never bothered himself to learn about the facility guidebook about the electric outrage which was usually fixed by either Gears or Bright.

Arthur scratched his head, guessing the idea of Johnheart who was dodging his gaze with a guilty look even though he was an old man. He sighed with helplessness, looking at the control board. He quickly restarted the system by plugging in the emergency energy source and continued to activate the safety protocol.

The lights immediately illuminated their visions, momentarily Blinding everyone except Arthur was a superhuman. They took off their night visions, trying to adapt to the brightness.

" Ugh, we have turned on the lights. Now what?"

The soldier asked, feeling nervous about the old soldiers in the hall because they were probably hit by the light.

" It is okay unless they meet hostile force. They are long trained to adapt to this type of situation. Besides, I believe in them."

Captain spoke with a calm face. Thus showing his firm trust in his comrades who leaped through the fire with him. They were trained by the old captain who was close to Arthur and retired to the countryside with a smile. He was a battle-hardened person who saw hell's entrance with his two eyes. Hence, he trained his men with the harshest method in the whole foundation.

" He is right. All we have to do now is find a way to contain these anomalies before something happens."

Arthur said calmly while looking at 049 whom he thought safe. 049 nodded at his words with an understanding look despite his status on the site. He thought it was a good time to go back.

" Oh right, comrade. Before the lights went out, I heard a scream about ' Chaos' "

He dropped the bomb, not knowing what would cause by this simple statement.
