Chapter 47 Sneak out

" So, this time we will go to Syria and help the refugees. There will be ambushes in the city despite our status, so stay alert all the time."

Price explained the mission, showing the hologram of the ruined city, Damascus. The buildings were bombed to the smithereens and people were crawling on the ground to survive in this war.

The soldiers' faces changed when they saw the crying mother who was hugging her dead son in the rumbles and the soldiers were walking beside her without any expression. Some might tried to help her, but in the end, no one could do something helpful to her since they had a mission.

" We will land in 2 hours, so rest your eyes for a bit, and let's head to the cathedral where we meet Jeanne. She is tending the people."

Price continued, closing his eyes for a moment. The rest followed the suit, but they didn't notice something. A boy who was hiding in the shadows, looking at them with a calm gaze. He was excited to sneak out and thought he could handle the battlefield.

2 hours later.

The airplane landed near the city and the soldiers took off with their baggage. They jumped in the armored cars which were waiting for them and moved to the city with quick response. Lothar quickly jumped on the one of people while activating his camo mode suit.

He gazed around and saw the smoke rising from the city where he was heading. His heart felt both anxious and excited, but little did he know it would soon die down.

The city was completely in shambles due to the urban fighting between the armies and the terrorists and people were begging for food everywhere. Their eyes were filled with despair and hopelessness, longing for help from other nations, but they didn't realize it wasn't going to happen.

The shady business between curtains covered their home, blocking the eyes of the masses. The weapon dealers were preventing other nations from intervening in the battle and they were keeping tabs on the heroes before they arrived here.

The heart of young Lothar ached when he saw this scene. He clenched his fists, not knowing what to do in this situation because he knew he couldn't mingle in the business of the government.

Tuck*

The cars stopped and the soldiers came out from the back. Jeanne came to greet them as she guided them inside, but when she saw the top of the car she stopped her move.

She narrowed her eyes a little bit and gestured for Lothar to move in. Lothar who was caught off red-handed, was puzzled since the technology of Eden was advancing too quickly and they made sure it was undetectable in every outcome, but Jeanne was able to see through him.

Inside the church, for the first time, they saw the hope. The children were running around happily and people were laughing without any worry. The staff were helping people and they were also distributing the food.

Even soldiers were lining up to get the food with the help of Eden. The children drew the logo of Eden on their clothes and the wall as they worshipped it with gratitude. In these dark times, no nation except Eden fully helped them like this. They gave them supplies, money, and a chance to live in Eden and they also offered them a way to move out. Furthermore, they protected the people from the bad people. Hence, they were grateful to them.

" Hello, misters! My name is Fariha. I give you these flowers."

The young Syrian girl gave them flower beads made by herself. The soldiers took them with care and put them on their wrists which made the girl happy.

Lothar who was watching from the side felt he found the reason for his life. He never cared about others way, but this time he felt different. His heart was telling him that this was it. This was the place where he was looking for and he found his answer.

He never wanted to be like his father or his mother. He wanted to be a man who would help others without any hesitation. He wanted to become a man who would fight for the forgotten. This was his way.
