The energy of a living being is closely related to the laws of physics in James's mind. He believed to utilize them one had to channel a special type of energy that was derived from matter itself and that wasn't far from the truth because matter, dark matter, and anti-matter itself are closely intertwined with them due to the body of a mortal.
The cosmic energy and life energy of mortal beings needed to channel themselves through something to manifest in reality. Otherwise, they would disperse into vast space-time.
" You have an interesting explanation, child. Your thoughts are extremely similar to your father and he might be right. After all, he used cosmic energy to empower himself and mastered all types of energy, including qi."
Ying Nan spread her stance, striking him with a palm while he countered it with a fist. The wind blew everything on its way as Ying Nan smiled brightly.
" You have passed, child. Next!"
James bowed gently, sitting next to Alexia who was conjuring a spell on her palm because she was enlightened through magic.
" Ragnar, I see. This is your power."
The crimson energy of Ragnar caught her eyes, showing flame-like substance around him.
" You said qi is part of life and I govern life with my power, so it was easy for me to learn, but it was hard to master."
He exhaled white steam, creating an imaginary sword from his qi which made her widen her eyes with surprise. She never saw someone who had powerful life energy like him.
She casually extended her staff, exchanging blows with him with a smile.
" You pass too."
The next one was Vera. Unlike Ragnar, her qi was golden colored and her tiara shone brightly under her power.
" Please be careful. This can injure even gods."
She spoke clenching her fist as she punched out with a great force that created a sonic boom. Fortunately, Ying Nan was more experienced than her, so she was able to dodge but she could tell her punch was too powerful for someone her age. Perhaps it was related to her genes since Ragnar and Vera were basically gods.
" I have no word to say. Just be mindful of your power."
Ying Nan sighed with helplessness, knowing she created a monster in a human form.
" I am next."
As the past was in the line, Alexia felt extreme tension and nervousness. She felt like her confidence was collapsing, but after looking at her siblings who were giving her encouragement, she decided to get up.
" Okay."
She used her qi to mix it with her spell as her rope became pinkish colored rope which was cute in some ways.
" Oh, sorcery. You are an interesting child. Your siblings had different mindsets but among them, you are the most unique one because mixing qi with sorcery is impossible. Even your father would have struggled."
Ying Nan admired her mind and will to create such a spell. Perhaps she would inherit Strange and Arthur's sorcery mantle in the future but currently she was just a fledgling who was trying to find her way.
" Let me give you a pointer. You need to firmly stabilize your spell and stance because when you fight stance and footwork are the groundwork for win."
Ying Nan grabbed her rope as she pulled herself to her. She then stroked her hair with a grin as Alexia pouted with a helpless face.
" Good. You are qualified to get it."
They followed her as they reached the lake where they saw a giant dragon. It was smiling at them with a big grin, looking curiously at the children.
" They have passed my test and I think you should give it to them."
Ying Nan spoke calmly, looking at the children who were nervous in front of the dragon.
The dragon circled them as it pulled out some hair from its beard, handing it to them.
"Your mission ends here. Do you think they satisfied you?"
Ying Nan looked at the man who appeared behind them. He was looking at them with a proud face.
" I am so proud of you."
Kyle hugged his siblings as they struggled to get out of his bear hug.
It was the perfect image of a good family.
