Chapter 148 Dilemma of the leaders

" This can't go on. After your seal, our combat has lowered drastically and we cannot deploy our most powerful members without the permission of the countries."

Luke looked at Arthur who was in deep thought. After the incident of Sokovia and hero registration, he believed everything had toned down a little bit but looking at the current world trend, it felt so wrong. The people boycotted and demoralized heroes for being selfish jerks except for him and a few others, they even supported for the new bill that counted every possible super-powered human, mutants, inhumans, aliens, etc.

Moreover, other dimensions weren't in that good situation either for some reasons and Arthur had no direct way to solve this unless he used force which was the way of a tyrant.

" I understand your frustration, Luke. However, we can't do anything because we aren't them and it isn't our choice. I understand your feelings after facing Sentry."

Arthur tried to calm him down but Luke didn't budge a bit despite his respect for him. He believed this was too much and they didn't deserve such treatment after bleeding for mankind for years.

" You know Jessica is pregnant, right? Do you think people will accept our child as one of them at this rate? We will become outcasts of society even if it means one person disagrees with us. Our city is a haven for us, but how many of us can live here? Maybe 2 or 3 million but what about others? Asgard won't accept them or mutants. They will either become a villain or beggar."

Arthur fell into silence after hearing him, he couldn't refute his words because it was true. The world was big, but how could his city be able to accommodate all beings with peace? He could understand travelers but there was the number of the residents.

" Make a choice now. You either stand with us and deny this bullshit propaganda of the government or be a peacemaker without any of us. You know we bled for years together, right? Your people need you this time. Not as a politician or a hero but as a leader whom they trust their lives."

Luke said seriously, leaving the room early to give him time to think about it. Arthur silently leaned on his chair, looking outside with a complicated face.

The bustling city with different colors attracted his attention but he wasn't sure this could go on forever. His influence was huge but he couldn't wipe out people's prejudice after various incidents and people were acclaiming superhumans were the root cause for everything.

" What do you think so deeply about my love?"

Tyrande entered the room, and saw exhausted Arthur. She leaned on his side, knowing how he felt after his seal. The once strong man was struggling to hold the weight of the world on his back because he was their sole leader and beacon.

" I don't know, Tyrande. I have lived thousands of years but everything is falling apart. Mutants are divided between themselves and governments are forcing us to yield except for our allies. They even managed to defeat the most powerful of us with their people and gained the upper hand."

Arthur hit his armrest, not knowing what to do now.

" Shall we go out then like old times? Let's travel around the world and figure out some ways to deal with it whike you rest for a while. You have been traveling for a long time for others. This time go for yourself."

Tyrande's words made him realize that she was right. He was far too absorbed in his duties and forgot who he truly was.

" I have to leave it to others who can manage for some time. Let's go as a family. Our children, you, me, Hill, Nat, and our other family members like a normal family does. Sorry for neglecting you for so long."

Arthur gently pulled her into his embrace, hugging her with his love that made Tyrande chuckle like they were in their young adult days.

They had been living together for so long that they forgot what it felt to be spouses like normal people. Their duties were too heavy to take off for a moment but now they had a chance.
