Daniella walks down the stairs and walks into the dining room with her mind still filled with things about Susan and her dream.
It is hard for her not to focus on thinking about these things at this time, as a result, she becomes dazed and caused her to almost fall from the stairs that connected the 1st floor to the 2nd floor of the boarding house because she is not careful in her steps.
Luckily the girl has good reflexes and is able to immediately prevent that from happening, she managed to save herself from what would have been very painful if it happened. However, it still works to make Daniella's heart beating very fast.
The girl stopped walking while holding her left chest, she was frozen above the stairs in shock, but not long after that she began to look around her to see if anyone had seen what had happened to her or not, but apparently, no one saw it, even those who are in the dining room, even though the dining room is opposite the stairs, but everyone in it looks busy in their respective activities.
Daniella then continued her steps with a sigh of relief because at least she wouldn't be a laughing stock because of what had happened to her earlier.
When she finally reaches the dining room to enjoy her breakfast and joined the other boarders who also paid the extra fee for daily breakfast service, the girl finds out that not everyone is here already, only Margaret and a few people, the rest might come after her.
The girl then chooses to sit next to Margaret, which makes her currently in the middle of Margaret and Mary. Mary is a 58-year-old woman who lives in this boarding house alone, her husband and her son were soldiers who have died on the battlefield, her daughter-in-law died when giving birth to her grandson 21 years ago, and she has no relatives other than her grandson.
Her grandson, Samuel, is only a year younger than Daniella, is also a soldier, like his grandfather and his father. Samuel is currently still at a war and no one knows when he will return. Though she has been living in this boarding house for almost a year, Margaret even only ever saw him here for a few days and has not seen him since, but in her opinion, Samuel is a very nice person and loves his grandmother very much.
Mary is blind in her left eye, her right eye is also slowly experiencing blindness, because of this thing, she often gets help from other boarders when she wants to do something, for example, now, Margaret helps her to wash her hands and get a glass of water for her.
"There's no a good morning greeting for me today, my dear?" Mary said to Daniella, who even when sitting in her chair was still thinking about Susan, to the point that she forgot to say a good morning greeting to the woman with mostly gray hair and the other boarders, it is a common thing Daniella did every day, but today she probably would not do it if Mary hadn't said it.
"Oh, my God, I'm sorry," said Daniella as she turning to Mary with a slightly guilty expression on her face. "Good morning Mrs. Rodriguez, good morning Margaret," she continued, she greeted Mary and Margaret first, then she greeted everyone else with the same smile and friendliness as usual.
"Good morning, Miss Miller." One by one people responded to Daniella's greeting by saying that, even Daniella and Mary, who usually never called her by that name.
Mary and Margaret then both smiled at Daniella, making the girl finally smile for the first time today, but only a few moments later, Mary's expression changed to a look of worried towards Daniella, she began to look at the girl's face closer with the eyesight of hers which is not that good anymore.
"My dear, are you all right?" asked Mary with worry that was clear from her voice, Daniella is a little surprised and panicked because she doesn't know what makes Mary feel so worried about her.
