Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Dani-

She was shy at first, but loosened up as I washed her.

It broke my heart as she cried while I washed her back.

I was as gentle, and careful as I could be, but knew it was painful.

The bruises broke my heart.

Some were even hard, from being so deep.

I felt confident that her ankle was only sprained, but wanted her to be careful.

Once she stood in the tub I wrapped her hair in a towel and sprayed her back with some first aid spray.

I got her some cloth shorts, and after her back was dry I got her a big tee shirt.

When I asked if she was ok sleeping in my bed with me she seemed very grateful for the invitation.

She nervously moved closer and closer until she just nuzzled into my chest.

I felt a peace that I hadn't in two years.

I missed sharing a bed with someone honestly.

We both drifted off to sleep before long, and didn't wake until my phone went off the next morning.

I looked at my phone, while she started moving around.

There was a text from my boss that caught me off guard.

*‘Good job last night D, there was more than enough in the house to settle up, and I know that was a tough boundary for you to cross...you've earned some time off, and your bonus is in your mailbox. I'll see you for a coffee meet up in two weeks, maybe lay a little low until then. I know you're careful, but there's no need in taking stupid chances.

-Time off would be great, I think I have a sprain I should nurse. See you in two weeks.’*

‘Morning sweet girl.’

She just grunted in return.

‘I need to go check my mail really quick. Can you wake up and decide what you'd like for breakfast?’

Mimi: ‘Mhm.’

She mumbled quietly.

I went out and got the envelope from the mailbox, opening it as soon as I got inside.

There was a thousand or fifteen hundred dollars in cash, along with a folded paper.

My jaw dropped as I unfolded the paper and realized what it was.

Renting the house was a part of my arrangement with him, but he signed over the deed.

It was finally my house.

I told myself there had to be a catch, especially if he thought I was willing to kill for him now.

Mimi: ‘Dani?’

She called from my bedroom and I went to her, still in shock.

‘Hi baby girl, do you know what you want for breakfast? I've got eggs, and sausage....’

Mimi: ‘Pancakes!’

‘Oh. I don't have the stuff to make that sweetie, I'm sorry.’

She looked disappointed.

‘What if we have eggs for breakfast, and we will make a grocery list? I will have someone go to the store, and we will have pancakes for lunch.’

She grinned wide.

Mimi: ‘Ok! It's time for pills though.’

‘Are you in pain?’

Mimi: ‘I mean, my back hurts some when I move.’

‘Let me get you some ibuprofen then.’

Mimi: ‘But I need, I mean I...’

‘You want the pain pill, and maybe your body feels like it needs it, but I promise, you don't.’

Mimi: ‘But, if I don't take it I get sick.’

‘You'll get better without it though. If you really need it you can have it, but let's try without it. Ok?’

Mimi: ‘Have I been bad?’

‘No sweetie, but those pills, are bad for you. Now come on sweet girl, I have a toothbrush I haven't used you can have.’

She reached for me looking confused.

I paced her on the counter and got the toothbrush.

‘Here you go sweet girl.’

Mimi: ‘So you're taking care of me now?’

‘I am.’

Mimi: ‘You decide when I take pills?’

‘Yep.’

Mimi: ‘You decide if I'm a bad girl?’

‘I suppose so. I think you've been a very good girl so far.’

Mimi: ‘You spank me if I'm not though?’

‘I've think you've been spanked more than enough for quite a while baby girl. I do believe spanking has a purpose, but I believe in teaching, not just punishing. If you act out of line with me, I will correct you, but I think you've had enough physical correction. I think what your daddy was doing, was beyond correction, that was abuse baby girl, and no one deserves that. I think you have more healing to do, not just that ankle, or your ouchies.’

Mimi: ‘You'll make it better? Take care of me?’

‘I will, I'll try to help you get better from everything your daddy ever did to you.’

Mimi: ‘Does that, does that make you my Mommy now then, Dani?’
